dune Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 I always though El Hierro was extinct like La Gomera and that Mt Teide and La Palma were the threat. Certainly Teide is the most powerful and the ancient Caldera shows hpw huge the old volcano was. Without checking i'm not sure whether El Hierro is far enough west to be on the atlantic shelf (la palma is on the edge) but if it is the tsunamis it could cause could be devastating from right around the atlantic. SO16_Saint Posted 11 October, 2011 Share Posted 11 October, 2011 Excuse the ignorance but where is El Hierro? Is it an Island in it's own right or on another Canary Island? I know Tiede is on Tenerife, but never heard of El Hierro. My folks are in Tenerife ATM... Edit: just wiki'd it and seen that it's an island in it's own right, albeit a v small one!!
