Right.

We battled.

We got the goal.

We are still top of the league.

And if any of you nob-heads thinks we will have an easy 'run-in' with these final 34 games then beware. We will lose. We will lose again. We lose after that loss.

But we are the Saints.

We have the drive, the spirit, the desire, the sweat. And when I watch our lads at SMS I know they have the real Team Spirit to get us proud.

UP THE SAINTS!!

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!

55% possession and we still lose. :(

If you can never change a winning team, surely you can change a losing team - and shape.

4-3-3 on Saturday please. Lallana-Lambo-deRidder up top!

No point in making any radical changes, maybe De Ridder for Gully, but we haven't played too badly we've just been unlucky in front of goal.

More possession, more attempts. Just our finishing has let us down in the past two games. That can happen.

and that's still pretty impressive stats to come away with from Cardiff and Burnley's grounds.

As saint-clark said earlier, we'd be worried if we weren't creating chances, but we still are. Bundles of chances. We're going through somewhat of a 2 game barron spell, but we'll start scoring again.

If i'm honest we need to try and lock the back door a bit, but we were always going to concede more at this level so that's no surprise to me.

Both their goals were against the run of play to be fair tonight. Going by 5extra. The first might have been a penalty and I'm always worried when Kelvin comes out... need to see them really.

Sounded like we were awful until they scored their first goal (same as Saturday), had a bit of a spell but then a mistake allowed them to score their 2nd.

Pleased De Ridder scored, he sounded decent. I would like him to start against Watford, but Guly probably will.

De Ridder gives us a similar option to Lallana. Cardiff clearly done their homework tonight on him and it stopped us from playing until De Ridder was on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see the penalty shout we had just before they went 1-0 up, seen some fans say it was a clear penalty but wouldn't surprise me if they're clutching at straws.

The back four is still a worry for me, Fox has a great cross on him but he doesn't seem convincing defensively, can't help think that the £1.8m we spent on him could have gone towards either a CB or Striker.

I think we may be one of these sides who will be strong at St. Mary's but slightly underwhelming away from home.

Still top of the Championship but hopefully this will be a bit of a reality check to those who think we will walk this league.

In the context of being top after 9 games, a defeat at Cardiff is no real bummer, as we're well ahead of where I thought we would be.

The downer is after last nights results and Cardiff's injury crisis I thought we had a really good chance of extending our lead.

A couple of days ago would have settled for a point, so only a point dropped in my mind. We're going to lose matches in this division (even if we maintain our promotion push), so regroup for the weekend.

A real shame cause Cardiff sounded sh!t too. Consensus on Twitter seems to be Harding back in soon, Fox poor defensively. As long as we keep it up at home. Players tired? Back to Hammond-Cork midfield again.

Didn't think we'd need a striker but we desperately need some pace up top and something different to cause defenders problems, especially when like in the past two games, we've been poor in possession.

A lot of work to do on the training ground before Watford....another bogey team!

I could only listen on the radio but 2 soft goals and misses from 6 yards mean you will not win the championship. Very disappointed against Cardiff reserves

Since when has our target been to win this league? We've just flaming well been promoted.

Let's take each game at a time, see where we are in January and go from there. No way should our target be to win the league, totally unrealistic. Top 6 is realistic and we should be there if we carry on like this.

And it wasn't really Cardiff reserves either, pretty much full strength apart from Mason up top who you could consider their reserve. I thought they'd be weaker than they were, but a couple of players recovered quicker...

Least we are creating chances.

But, Fox imo should not been in the side, can't wait for Harding to be back.

De Ridder needs to start on Saturday in place of Guly, giving us a lot of pace on the wing.

End of day we lose and are still top, we are not going to win every game. I will still say a top 10 finish is a good season for us to build on.

Stayed top, created plenty of chances, never gave up, and only went down to a couple of sloppy goals (including one after we should have had a penalty by the sound of it)...

That said, we need to tighten up away from home.

A win against Watford is vital now. If we manage to win and push on again over the next couple of games against Derby and West Ham, it's from the top of the league and will put us in a very VERY strong position.

we are leaking too many goals .

Have to get more clean sheets to get promotion.

Very, very true. This is something that is worrying me - if you look at our position caluculated by GA we lay 13th in the table, Boro are top. Tells me the forwards are having to score a lot of goals to get our points.

Our defensive displays need to get a lot more solid, more clean sh its please..!

No one in the top 5 won in this round of fixtures and we had the hardest fixture of the 5.

We have played more away games than the other 4 and we have the easiest fixture of all 5 on saturday.

I vote this type of comment be banneded forthwith. Hostage to fortune, etc.....

Fox is alright in an attacking sense, but I'd say positionally at the back from when I've seen him he's very suspect and in away games that will cost you. Burnley fans said exactly the same about him, often goes walk about and isn't anywhere to be seen when they attack.

Hopefully the coaches can improve him, but I think Harding is a much better defensive full back.
