Colinjb Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Ok. We need to do something to make sure that item is associated with the club, not a random collector... Any ideas?
PaulSaint Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Start a petition requesting a small SFC Museum be installed at the club, that medal will start the collection of just nicely?

Sour Mash Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Start a petition requesting a small SFC Museum be installed at the club, that medal will start the collection of just nicely? I think a Saints museum is a quality idea. Anyone else think this reflects really badly on Terry Paine though?
Toomer Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 (edited) Paine has not had it that long, lets hope it can stay within the club. Edited 28 September, 2011 by Toomer

Sadly I do a little bit. All those years fighting to get a medal and then selling it two years after he gets it is a bit sad, but I don`t want to start another "Legend Acting Badly" thread though! derry Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 After forty years without one, I doubt a copy of the original no matter the significance, after a cooling down period, really is that important to him now.
Colinjb Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 For starters, is there any way we can inform the club of this auction/check if it's on their radar?
sandwichsaint Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Is this Saints related? I thought this football club only started in 2010? Terry Paine is just some old geezer who played for a team that used to be called Southampton; nothing to see here.

Whilst the past is important the future is more so.
miserableoldgit Posted 28 September, 2011 Author Share Posted 28 September, 2011 A saints museum? LOL. What will be on display? The old ted bates statue and a broken fence that was rattled at the pompey game? Yes, you are right. Can`t see that there is going to be anything of any interest from over 125 years of history. jayrivers Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 If I remember rightly, there is (I think) the first Terry Paine England Cap in the Terry Paine suite. The medal could go with that, or in reception? I could be wrong about the above though, its been some years since I was there.
paulwantsapint Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Rupert Lowe brought Peter Rodrigues (sp) fa cup captains medal do the club still have it or did it vanish with Lowe ? Am sure ML would have paid Terry Paine to have loaned his wc medal to the club
um pahars Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Rupert Lowe brought Peter Rodrigues (sp) fa cup captains medal do the club still have it or did it vanish with Lowe ? The Kraken Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 I don't think you can judge anyone who mgiht be able to get their hands on £25k these days.... Indeed, and I hope no-one does that. However, in this case I wouldn't go along with the notion of the club buying the medal for display; for a whole number of reasons, most of which are explained within that article. Cricketphilly Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 I had George Cohen's medal copied for Fulham years ago. He sold them the orginal 9ct one and they display a metal copy. Must admit the originals looked nothing like the 2009 version.
CanadaSaint Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 It might not be a great week to pitch the idea of a Saints museum at Nicola.
JRM Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 A saints musueum would be a great idea and would fit in very well with the stadium tour, i did the tours at Real and Athletico Madrid this time last year, Real's was as you expect, over the top and trophies every where, whereas Athletico's was just as i image a saints one being, done with real care and detail by people who clearly love the club, putting together excellent photography and videos of the club from the past, a section of past kits spanning 100 years, old programmes and ticket stubs on display, the various videos and images of the old ground really interesting, and we would have a few trophies and ex-players to commemorate. It does not need to be big, but i think it would be great and would be an attraction for fans of other clubs as well. the scottish football museum at Hampden is another one of note, covers the developments of the game but also looks at the changing face of football and has a "fans section" with stuff from the casuals and pics of fans from various games home and abroad over the ages. brilliant stuff. Noodles34 Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 we have a museum, its a cabinet between the suites, holds about as much as you can hold on Saints, somehow a proper museum might be hard to fill??
