rocknrollman no2 Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I think Beattie may have something to offer, but as Lambert is our no 1 striker and when fit Connolly is also ahead of him,i cant see him sitting on the bench for most of the season.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 (edited) Did anyone go to any of the ex saints events recently? Edited 1 October, 2011 by Matthew Le Tissier

captain sensible Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I think Beattie may have something to offer, but as Lambert is our no 1 striker and when fit Connolly is also ahead of him,i cant see him sitting on the bench for most of the season. Depends how much he's being paid..............it can also be a tactical option if there's a few nuts Rickie can't crack!
Dellman Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 The club through NC and NA is building a young squad with a future, its great to have Beatts watching us as a fan, but he is the past
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 By the way the ex saints have a box at the ground, I wonder who was satnin it today?
Thedelldays Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Did anyone go to any of the ex saints events recently? Did anyone see a certain player who we may be talking about supporting there events? Who tends to dislike the ex saints organisation? Lol Let me know when the penny drops well done. you have now turned this into another anti cortese thing...good work the fact is ex players are at the club.......despite you saying he is against it

Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 (edited) I really like the chairman Edited 1 October, 2011 by Matthew Le Tissier
hypochondriac Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 ummmmm, did you go? Did you see? Why don't you just come out with it instead of being all cryptic! What he is saying is that Beattie has supported the ex saints charity recently, and because of that NC is not keen on signing him. Not sure I completely believe that, but stranger things have happened. IF (big if) it were true then that would be a great shame.
Spudders Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 It's a complicated and confusing world we live in
sfc4prem Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Sorry for not being able to have my own opinion. I must think what you think and speak what you think. Sorry once again. Just from a personal point of view. Like my opinion I CAN'T STAND THE BLOKE however that's just my opinion and don't judge anyone on there opinion if they tend to like the gent. Some like marmite some don't, simple as that. Even tho I'm a **** for thinking that I'm afraid that doesn't change things sorry. Also That doesn't mean I think he is doing all a bad job I just don't like him. So I'm assuming you've spent time with him in order to reach a fully conclusive opinion of him?

Spudders Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 And he didn't sleep with my wife lol Did he touch you inappropriately on your bottom
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 It was either him or Beattie I can't remember It could have been thedelldays It's all getting to much
RobM Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I don't think Beattie being an ex-Saint has anything to do with it. NC isn't that childish to put an internet and media fuelled spat ahead of good business. Heck, would he turn down Theo, Bale, AOC etc if they wanted and could come back to us, just because they are ex-Saints? Heck no. If the club think Beattie has something to offer they will talk to his people about a move. It's as simple as that. As for what Adkins said, he said they have not spoken to him. They may well have spoken to his agent though. And let's not rule out some good old fashioned hospitality. An ex-Saint who will still have links with some people at the club could well have been invited as a guest. He might even have been invited to train with us to keep his fitness. The one thing we can be absolutely sure of, is we know nothing about the situation.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 (edited) Some good points there rob Edited 1 October, 2011 by Matthew Le Tissier
hypochondriac Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Some good points there rob However, you actually know a lot about the situation, it just depends if you want to digest it or not! Do you think it would be childish to not invite the fans number one player over the last 20 odd years to the recent saints celebration If true I would say that was childish What has that got to do with Beattie?
St_Tel49 Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 and there is the problem Hasn't been this season
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Nothing at all Ame as most of the dribble above hasn't
Roger Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 If cortese didn't want him back I really doubt too much he'd be going in players entrance today
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 If the tickets paid for Roger it's not an issue
Thedelldays Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 If the tickets paid for Roger it's not an issue just ban him if he is supporting the ex players charity.... no mercy...mercy is for the weak
hypochondriac Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 If the tickets paid for Roger it's not an issue Him going through the players entrance? Why would that not be an issue?
Spudders Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Hasn't been this season and let's hope it carries on that way, but we're only ten games in. I'd be amazed if he makes it through the whole season
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Players entrance?the same entrance as is for hospitality. Time will tell! I personally agree with you.
hypochondriac Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Players entrance?the same entrance as is for hospitality. Time will tell! I personally agree with you. But you said he was signing? Is he or isnt he?
Roger Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 havent you said he was signing..? I know you said he was signing? You're confusing me matthew! Is he signing or not??
Thedelldays Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Beattie is signing He was also at the game today watching his new team mates I know you said he was signing? You're confusing me matthew! Is he signing or not?? hmmm..
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Lol Let's wait and see shall we I hope he does that's for sure
hypochondriac Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Lol Let's wait and see shall we I hope he does that's for sure So why did you say he is? And that he was watching his team mates?
Roger Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 So did u make it up that he was signing? Cortese may have changed his mind?
SB Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 His appearance, the fact he was at the game, walked through the players entrance and is out of contract suggests there is Something in this..
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I think he is going to sign but you make your own mind up
Saint_lambden Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I know he lives locally and that he still has a soft spot for us but he seems very desperate right now. I just don't see the point of getting him. He's too similar to Lambert, and I'd pick Rickie over him every time. We need a striker with pace, not somebody we're going to have to wait for ages to get back to any form of fitness, let alone contribution to the team. Some fans seem to just want a player back because they were good with us before, but we need to stop living in the past. James is way past his best, and he was never as good after he left us. Some great memories, particularly the Pompey ones, but an arrogant, unfit striker that could cause issues in damaging the squad harmony? No thanks.

Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I think Beattie needs the right manager to get the best out of him, some players go to lots of clubs and just don't do the business, but then you see them get good man management and it all clicks into place . I think Adkins would be able to get Beattie back on his game Yes he's similar to lambert That's why it would be a food signing as players get injured and to get to the premier league you must have strength in depth.

And some fans don't want him as they "perceive" based on internet rumour and inuendo that he is arrogant and unfit. Let's leave it to the professionals who will decide whether he has something to offer!
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I agree Fred. From what rumours I have heard over the years, if true, he wouldn't be someone I would like to go out drinking with, But that's not saying I wouldn't want him in my team cuz I would

Spudders Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 I just don't see the point of getting him. He's too similar to Lambert Yes that's a good point, why would we want another player comparable to the top goal scorer in the championship?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Yes that's a good point, why would we want another player comparable to the top goal scorer in the championship? Yes, I'd be gutted to have 2 Rickie Lambert's up front...
