Graffito Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 Cortese's out to get Saints in the Premier League. Why would he waste valuable time and energy trying to sink a charity?
Wes Tender Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 I'm amazed that five people actually agree with this... what shall I call it... I know... "bedwetting". For a start I doubt there is a Saints fan alive that constantly disagreed with every single thing all of the last 4 Chairmen did, and no one other than pretty much you has mentioned a fan on the board for about 3 years, not that having a supporter as an advisor to a football club is even a bad idea. Agreed on the general gash that is "hearsay becoming fact". Not quite the same as using empirically proven facts like the 15 minute car park fee as a basis for criticisms though - used as a general example, rather than being particularly pertinent to this argument... ...because basically, having been away for the whole issue and really not actually investing any time in the whole matter, my take on this is that Saints have the right to defend the use of their intellectual property, including the rights to use the logo and club name and any other trademarks, and Ex-Saints have the right to set us as a Charity and raise money, just as the club does through the Foundation, but not by infringing those legal ownerships. None of the other stuff is even remotely relevant. I don't see anything remotely wrong in agreeing with the sentiments of the general thrust of Crab Lung's post and if you are amazed that five people agree with it and wish to label those in general agreement as bed-wetters, then you are entitled to your opinion and count me amongst them too. I know exactly the type of person that Crabby refers to and although as you say hardly anybody has mentioned the fan on the board idea recently, that was one thing that was espoused by these people amongst several other items on their wish list. You say that it is not a bad idea having a supporter advising the club, but who would that be? And would their views mirror those of the majority of the fans? I think not. Those ideas have been passed by because of events, but the faction that espoused them rear their ugly heads from time to time, bemoaning the fact that they are not important anymore and have no influence over other fans. Like the OP and his feeble attempt to conjure up discontent when there is none, they are an irrelevance.

OldNick Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 I'll show you what the club did for the fans to enjoy on the 125th anniversary http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2223453,00.html A chance to spend £125 (+ VAT) on a 2 course meal and a football match and to see some legends from the past (not including MLT, LM & FB) What a bargain for the average fan. At least the ex-players tried to do something for the people.Did the players and entertainment turn up? I went to Silverspoons atr Wembley organised by the owner of a Fansite, and no players turned up and it was a disaster. Thank heavens the club did not attach themselves to that do as it would have harmed their image, and at the same time not have any control over the actions of the organisers. I think the club is looking after its reputation, and if it cocks up it only has it self to blame not 3rd parties. I am quite impressed by the Saints foundation and can understand why NC does not wish for that to be watered down by other charities trying to use the club to enhance its profile. Im certain the ex -Saints is a fabulous charity but it is independant and so should follow that path.
Wes Tender Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 Who is this? You really don't know? SISA and the Saints Trust for a start and some people who used to hold positions of influence in those organisations who purported to speak on behalf of the fans. The sort of individual who gets hauled in front of a camera when a lazy Echo journalist wants to know what the fans think of anything topical in connection with the Club, following which there is an avalanche of posts on here saying that he doesn't speak for them, that nobody elected him as our spokesperson, etc.
