Saints have sold nearly 2,000 tickets for Wednesday's trip to Cardiff City.

There are no more tickets available at St. Mary's with 300 tickets now returned to The Bluebirds, to be sold from the ticket office at the Cardiff City Stadium.

These will be available from 6.45pm at the away ticket office, however, please note, there is a £2 increase on all tickets on the day of the game.

Shock horror. Turns out Cortese isn't alone then...

Hopefully tonight's results might fire us up!!!

Would still go a bit tighter though and play Chaplow or Spiderman over Guly.

It puts pressure on us, but it's a good type of pressure, with the awesome payoff of going clear at the top if we win.

It certainly seemed to help against Birmingham!

Phew, got through last night's pre-match warm-up unscathed. Biggest fitness issue was dehydration from sweating so much at Ravi's with the Curry & sitting outdoors & all that. (oh and for those worrying, yes THE band is back in The Seaview, not quite on their best form yet with 2 new singers fwiw)

So on-line tonight, Nuns warmed up, an amazingly favourable run of results from the other teams around us, Eric not going. What can possibly go wrong?

We're in Wales, time to find out if we really are The New Saints or we have managed to keep a few bad old ways in our boots.

Don't think NA will tinker with the formula, he will have analysed how Burnley stopped us playing and will have taken steps to solve that in training. Think it will be same format set up and line up to start with.

Be safe in Cardiff tonight peeps - all those nasty drunken louts in the City Centre,

not to mention all those evil Torchwood & Dr Who Aliens everywhere.

stick to trying out their sheep gang, probably safer.

I think the point is that "Humberside" hasn't been used as an official status for a number of years.

It's a rather spurious point, granted.

It's really complicated. The humber is a river and humberside is an area derived from the name of the river. PM me if you're still confused.

I think a lineup like this would suit us well for this game:

-----------------------Davis---------------------------

Frazer----------Jos-----------Fonte--------------Fox

------------Morgan-----Cork----Hammond------------

-----De Ridder ---------Lambert-----------Lallana---

Yep this would be my line up. Connolly needs a rest and Guly blows hot and cold for me. Morgan has earned a league start and I do think that giving De Ridder a start against a depleted Cardiff team would give the boy a real boost. 3-0 win for me. COYR

Asking where Humberside is, is a bit like asking where Merseyside is. As a description of a locality it is entirely valid and quite commonly used. Even the local radio station is BBC Radio Humberside. Since the poster who made this damn silly point in the first place gives his location as Cottingham, which is near Hull, he knows full well where Humberside is, but is presumably one of the "we're part of Yorkshire" fanatics who got so upset when local government re-organsation made Humberside an official county for while in the 70s.

Objecting to the use of 'Humberside' is like objecting to the use of 'Tyneside' to describe an area, or indeed the name 'Radio Solent'.

not a very good one though, better than harding going forward but IMO leaves us very exposed at the back. Can't help thinking he'd be a better LW than LB.

Is he better than Harding going forward? I'd say equal, although I agree with you that Harding is generally the better defender.

It might be very interesting having Fox ahead of Harding and overlapping him occasionally. It used to be fun watching the overlap with Bridge? and Marsden some years back. I wonder, could these two do something similar and to such good effect?

Completely different! Merseyside is still a county in England Whereas Humberside North and South reverted to ther original regions of East Riding of Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire nearly 20 years ago. Humberside is a radio station not an area and everybody up here is very hostile to it being used as such.

I'd agree with that but would go further and replace Hammond with Morgan and play Chaplow on the right. Deano has done well the last 6 months but was definately running on empty at Burnley and was lucky not to be subbed before he was. I'd like to see us start with De Ridder up front, Connolly was dropping way too deep on Saturday and we need a pace option to stretch Cardiff but Connolly is a very handy sub to have.

Am leaving for the game with my Brother and his GF in about 30-45 mins time as were going by Train to Cardiff as were staying overnight at a friends house after the game as were maybe going out afterwards!

Am looking forward to this as I think we've got a chance of getting at least a draw tonight which I for one would be really happy with, although a win would also be pretty Good as well but we'l see!

Am going to go for 1-1 with Lambert/Lalanna for Saints!

Where are most fans heading for pre match drinks before the game as I've heard that most pubs are in the City!?!

COYR :D!!!

Only as a whim of the Local Government re-organisations of 1974 & 1986. As Lancashire Cricket Club play there, Liverpool is in Lancashire, as is Manchester. They also form part of the Duchy and County Palatine of Lancashire. Otherwise it's like saying Southampton isn't in Hampshire, or Blackpool & Blackburn aren't in Lanky, as they are Unitary Authorities.

Local Authority boundaries can change, traditions founded on emnity towards the Yorkists are far more resilient.

I think Harding has the advantage going forward that he and Adam know each others game inside out after playing down the left so much the last two seasons. I'd say Fox has a better ball delivery than Harding.

I would love it, LOVE IT if we won tonight.

I reckon this could be difficult though, we're favourites to win and the new players coming in for Cardiff will be fresh and eager to prove themselves. I can see us drawing and 'boro winning so we'll be second going into the weekends games but we'll regain top spot after beating Watford and our rivals all playing away.

I think we should play a strong midfield and win the battle there, make the bluebirds chase shadows for a while and wear them down. My starting line up would be

-----------------------Davis---------------------------

Frazer----------Fonte-----------Jos--------------Fox

------------Morgan-----Cork----Hammond------------

De Ridder -------------------------------------Lallana

-----------------------Lambert----------------------

Should be a good game.

I'm more confident about tonight than I was on Saturday against Burnley (Look what they did to Forest last night?) I have a gut feeling that we will emerge as victors with a possible 3 - 0 win for us. Cardiff are NOT the team they were last season and before any of you start making comparisons, WE ARE the team that got promoted and very little has changed. The confidence in our squad is there for all to see.

COME ON YOU SAINTS!

I'm worried about the expectations on here after just 8 games. It's out of control already. They had injured players on the pitch and Leicester couldn't beat them, and Sven will be sacked if Leicester don't go up.

We're newly promoted and facing a consistent playoff team with a good home record in a hostile evening game. They'll be very strong and a win would be a fantastic achievement. Yet you talk as if it's a game we should be winning comfortably. 'Must beat them'? Disappointed to not win at Cardiff? WTF?

Give me a draw going into a winnable home game and I'll be delighted.

I agree this is going to be a tough game. Brighton won there recently though, so anything can happen. I think it is pretty evenly matched, which is the championship all over really.
