I'm sure some of you may remember that some months ago Matt Le Tissier set up a Twitter account, which was confirmed by other Sky employees, as well as Matt's son Mitch.

 

Well today the account became re-activated, as Matt appeared to try and send the fans a message on his side of the story:

 

"For the record i never have or never wanted to have free tickets from sfc hang your head in shame Nicola"

I think this is totally pathetic, and both parties are better keeping quiet.

 

Obviously Matt and Jeff will say that Nicola started it by mentioned freebies but there we go.

 

Just wish all this silly squabbling would stop and they could act like grown men rather than children in a playground.

Except for the fact the game never sold out, he was able to buy as manay as he wanted and nobody.....NOBODY was scratching around for a ticket.

So, an acceptance that there has been a clash with Le Tissier in the past and a mention of needing to stop demands for freebies...

 

There is not an explicit link between Le Tissier and a demand for freebies just an statement that free tickets are a thing of the past in any shape or form.

 

The need for a policy of that sort, as harsh as it may be in some quarters, is sensible... it will get rid of anyone trying to take the club for a free ride. The reactions on twitter and of Jeff Stelling are very dissappointing, all emotion and no thought.

This was in the Sun, although the dead-eyed Cult-of-Cortese bedwetters have decided that innocent naive little Nicola was hoodwinked into saying this stuff by the evil meeedia:

I'm sure if the nasty-wasty evil journalists have misquoted him, then Nicola will come down on them like a ton of bricks. I'll assume he has read the article now, so I am sure a clarification of what he really said is imminent.

What a shame a hugely positive article about the club has been turned into a ****ing contest between a club legend and the man currently steering the good ship Southampton into pleasant waters.

 

Now perhaps those who clamour for Cortese to respond to every half baked story about the club can see why he doesnt.

The article/interview has been dissected to death and the way it has been worded by the reporter puts 2 + 2 together and is making 5.

Matt is NOT directly mentioned with regard to free tickets yet it has been blown up into something its not.

 

And quite frankly quotes like that one above from dune that "Clotese" can **** off is just pathetic.

He saved the club you support idiot, it probably wouldn't be here without him and Markus and you tell him to eff off ??

Fkin hell, with supporters like that we dont need the skates do we ?

 

If you dont like him then fine, but get ALL the facts and make an informed and sensible opinion, not a fkin soundbite like that !

Sacked pardew for not being a yes man? Well we know that's not true, and we know Adkins is infinitely more than a yes man.

 

Beyond that, just seems to be a lot of anger and people only considering one side of things. I'm sure it's not as simplistic as they're making out. Whether MLT has done anything wrong or not, and I have no idea, his friends and family would back him up wouldnt they.

 

I'm sure they realise fans don't want to hear it with things going so well at the club.

 

The Liebherr familys employee is the one who is effectively asking us to choose between him and the Legend that is MLT. I didn't have to think about it to choose MLT.

Cortese could have done an interview only about positive things. He didn't need to mention freebies or "these people" or anything like that. There are plenty of positive things to say without talking about freebies.

 

If he didn't mention freebies he's had all day to issue a clarification. And this was not a "response to a half baked story" it was a set-piece interview.

 

 

And if we are talking "ALL the facts" please don't peddle the supposition that the club would not exist without Cortese/Leibherr. It would. It was never, ever going to go out of business. We may not be top of the Championship today, but there was absolutely zero chance Southampton would have folded. Zero chance.

And was Matt not just an employee (OK a very loyal one but still an employee) as people have already mentioned the only person who has actually PUT IN is Leon and he lost out a lot. Don't hear much bickering from him.

Yeh I think you are a disgrace if you side with Cortese over this.

 

Do we actually have to take sides, or can we be adult about it and acknowledge the great contribution that Matt gave to the club during his time, whilst also acknowledging Nicolas current contribution.

 

In recent years, both have effectively 'saved the club' in different ways. Time to shake hands, go to the bar and get the beers in.

Clearly I was mistaken that when Matt made his request for 10 tickets, they weren't linked to Carlisle tickets and they weren't restricted to one per customer.

 

But thanks for correcting me......

 

(Oh just one question, if they were so freely available, why didn't MLT ring the ticket office???).

It makes me laugh cortese does one of the most egotistical interviews going, slags off le Tiss, and at the same time he and his wife enjoy the services of some fine establishments in town never paying but charging it to the club account, at least you can be happy that the extra cash we fork out helps fund their lifestyle.

He did and said as much in person to me at an awards thing I was at.....

 

"I do not go anymore as I am expected to pay....."

 

Cortese cannot win this war against MLT and both should bury the hatchet....can I suggest in the back of The Sun editor.

I adore MLT but let's not forget he used the saints team as a vehicle to win a spread betting

His first thought on starting the game was to give the ball away in order to win cash

 

Let's balance it out

For me, I love that man and both should just shut up and get on with their lives

Matt got his 10 tickets. Which he bought and paid for. The game didnt sell out so it wasnt an issue for anyone.

My wish is that MLT and NC could get together for the good of our club and not give the media all the crap they crave. I would rather have Cortese than Ridsdale, Bates or some of poopeys recent lot.

 

Stellings outburst wasn't necessary, cosying up to his panel mates, especially Merson.

I wouldnt expect a former employer to automatically supply me with free lifetime access to their facilities. I do loads of work for the main concert venues around here, the Mayflower, Concorde, Guildhall, Nuffield, etc etc, I would not expect nor would I accept free tickets to their performances. Lawrie Mac did a good job for the club, but thats what it was; a paid job.
