Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good result, still top of the league.
crouchi Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Didn't get going soon enough, so quite fortunate
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good result, still top of the league. As long a boro have not nicked one
Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2011 Author Posted 24 September, 2011 Urgh...Pompey score in the 94th minute.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Will take that for sure. Danny Fox sounds quality going forward!
Colinjb Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 We had to dig in, our tactics at time were questionable, yet we still had chances to win it and gained a worthy away point. And yes, still top of the league. Worse things happen at sea!!!
Saintandy666 Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Once we got going, it sounded like we had a good chance. Shame it took us 60 minutes.
Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2011 Author Posted 24 September, 2011 As long a boro have not nicked one Nope, full time.
Toadhall Saint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Great away point - had chances to get all three.
Micky Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good result - win your home games, get something away - can't argue with that tbf.
Thedelldays Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 1-1. decent resultanother tough away game out of the way with a very tough game next...would be happy to come out of the next game unbeaten....sounds like we never really played that well..yet we drew a game and top of the league
Ohio Saint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Oh dear. A game we didn't win!! getting the occasional draw away from home ain't a bad thing, is it?
Baj Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Not a bad result considering those around us drew too, though a few more teams have pulled themselves up close on points
um pahars Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Draw not a problem for me, particularly pegging them back. Seems like some things to mull over, but nevertheless fairly happy. Now back to the morphine!!!
Under Weststand Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Well that was a difficult day today, a well earned point.
saintds Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 A point ground out, not a bad result when you consider we only started on about 70 minutes. Could have won it too, but for misses by AL and DC. Can't win 'em all, especially away from home, Cardiff will be a tougher test in mid-week.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good result onthe balance of play.. Still a great start to season...we will not win every week Saints of old would have folded
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Didn't get going soon enough, so quite fortunate Looks like the starting side wasn't quite right but as it was our usual starting XI who could know that in advance. Needed a bit more calm in midfield, which is what was said in a pre-match analysis that someone put up yesterday.
Jimmy_D Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 A point away, still top of the league despite not playing to our best, pretty happy with that. Pompey nicking all three is annoying though.
S-Clarke Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good point that, dug in, didn't play as well as we have done this season, but still didn't lose the match.
Crazy Diamond Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Suppose I'll take that, we didn't play well for a long stretch and then capitalised on a strong spell.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Cardiff will be a tougher test in mid-week. Doubt it actually, Burney had the players to exploit our weakness down the flanks(and Charlie Austin).
RedArmy Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Can't play like that against Cardiff. Good point though.
sammysaint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Happy with a draw away from home against a side that will be mid table at worse, glad Morgan scored hopefully he can keep up his form and improve. Still top 2 and looking good if we keep this form up.
eelpie Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 1-1 was my prediction, but also for Middlesbrough to win - so this is a result! All hail to Spiderman! (pity Derby and Hammers won though, still they were both at home.)
Leicestersaint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 We came through a difficult test and did well to get a point.
saintds Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 And a collectors item from Morgan too - is this the start of regular contributions from him?
eelpie Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 A point away, still top of the league despite not playing to our best, pretty happy with that. Pompey nicking all three is annoying though. But Skates actually did us a good turn in pegging Blackpool back.
SNSUN Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 A good point all told. Keeps us top, and boy did it sound like we had to battle hard. Burnley are a decent team - their league position isn't true to where they'll be at the end of the season - and a forward line of Austin and Rodriguez would be one I would love for Saints.Well done Morgan. Still top of the league then - good news. Cardiff away will be very tough though. Let's hope Adam finds his goalscoring touch by then.
locksheathsaint101 Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Happy with that. Well done Adkins for bringing on Morgan.
Saints foreva Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Disappointed that it took them to score for us to wake up. Pleased with a point though.
aintforever Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Decent result, we can't win every week.
Saint-scooby Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 We are still top, one point is better than nothing, onwards and upwards.........
hypochondriac Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Great point. Definitely one gained rather than two lost. Well done Adkins for the subs and for the attitude of our team.
Saint_Ash Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Decent point but wanted to win as I can see us struggling at cardiff. I think a 4-5-1 formation would work better away from home as we seem keen on sticking with 4-4-2 in every match (not complaining as it's worked so far but maybe teams are figuring us out). Still, top of the league and and can't ask to be higher than that 8 games in, a fair few teams are now lurking behind us though.
sfc4prem Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Happy with that. We are top o'the League said we are top o'the league!
Jimmy_D Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 But Skates actually did us a good turn in pegging Blackpool back. Aye, I guess, still would have preferred the draw there. Still, I guess it might hurt them more in the long run if it keeps Cotteril in a job. On to the next game, hopefully we'll play a bit better.
Monk Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Didnt play well, away from home at a place like Burnley and still picking up a point = good side. Still need two moor on the bus.
Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2011 Author Posted 24 September, 2011 Hooiveld is coming on leaps and bounds every game.
corsacar saint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 A very good point,so pretty happy.
manji Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 But Skates actually did us a good turn in pegging Blackpool back. Yeah I thought that too. Bigger picture and all that..........
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Some reports from those at the game will be handy, perhaps we weren't as badly mauled at the start of the 2nd half as it sounded from the commentary.
View From The Top Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 On the M66 on my way back. At 60mins would have settled for a point but at 90mins left disappointed that we didn't have all 3. Missed some sitters.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Good result at a difficult Northern away game keeps the start and records going (scored in every match this year, record start) We are 3 ahead of our 2 points a game target (We only made our 2 points a game target after a great run on our last game of the season against Wallsall last year)
View From The Top Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Some reports from those at the game will be handy, perhaps we weren't as badly mauled at the start of the 2nd half as it sounded from the commentary. Mauled? Don't think so.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Mauled? Don't think so. sounded that way from listening to dismal Dave. There were even a couple of criticisms of NA brewing, fortunately we scored and they faded away.
Legod Third Coming Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 It's a poor result looking at where Burnley were in the table at 3pm. They'd lost their previous two games, we were top of the league. This is the equivalent of Chelsea drawing at Wolves.
Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2011 Author Posted 24 September, 2011 It's a poor result looking at where Burnley were in the table at 3pm. They'd lost their previous two games, we were top of the league. This is the equivalent of Chelsea drawing at Wolves. You're going by league positions VERY early on in the season. It is also, at this stage, the equivalent of United drawing at Arsenal. Not such a bad result...
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 It's a poor result looking at where Burnley were in the table at 3pm. They'd lost their previous two games, we were top of the league. This is the equivalent of Chelsea drawing at Wolves. Burnley's position is false though, some sides take a bit of time to get going. Didn't doubt that we were in for a real battle myself if only for their strike power and wingers. I'll wait for the real reports but don't doubt that many of them will say that our full backs were exposed because we didn't take the game to them. NA subbed Guly and then Hammond, that says it all for me really, that the construction just wasn't firing on all cylinders and letting Burnley do whatever they needed to put us under pressure where we are at our weakest.
gaz Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Points make prizes! We'd have lost games like this in the past, so we've come a long way and still top of the table.
