JackanorySFC Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 What makes theo think he can do better? Hes not that great anyway Have you seriously just based that reply implying TW "thinks he can do better" on the hearsay of the OP? You sum up the knee-jerk hysteria on the Internet that makes me sick. Have you ever met Theo or his family? Been involved in multi million £ sports contracts? Scored a hat trick for England in our biggest qualifying game since Germany 01? Oh, as an aside I'm personally proud of Wallcotts ahievements since leaving us, a genuinely talented player that scares the hell out of any defence in world football (ask pep guardiola) playing for the only manager and club that are trying to compete at footballs top table without cheating like Citeh/ Chelsea (sugardaddys) or Man U/ Scousers (debt). A victory fir Wengers philosophy is a victory fir football.

VectisSaint Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 It gets worse for AW a family friend has told me Theo has just turned down a new contract. Seems sensible to me, keep your options open. Theo is only doing what several other Arsenal players are allegedly doing who are out of contract in 2013. See where Arsenal are at the end of this season and either negotiate an extension or move on with a hefty transfer fee for Arsenal. I would be very surprised if Arsenal even qualify for Europa League this season, these players including Theo and van Persie will be looking to play in Europe (Champions League not Mickey Mouse) regularly. A victory fir Wengers philosophy is a victory fir football. You're wrong mate. Chamberlain will get Theos place in the Arsenal squad. Theo is just a sprinter who cant shoot or cross. Chamberlain is much better, he has a much better football brain. He proved this last season against Wallsall and Dagenham and Redbridge.

Colinjb Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 How is his existing club offering a new contract cause to say 'Oh dear?' That he has the belief to turn the new deal down shows that he must be in a rather strong bargaining position.

buctootim Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 (edited) Man in wanting to change jobs shocker. Maybe just maybe Arsenal isnt a good place to work anymore and he wants to try somewhere else. Hes been saying for a long time he sees his best postion as upfront, not as a winger. Clearly everybody here who is slating him has never done anything as egotistical or sef centred as wanting a change. beatlesaint Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 He aint as good as he thinks he is. No, he isnt. And before anyone starts this business about being in a "Theo is crap" brigade nobody is saying he is crap, some of us however dont think he is as good as some do. Big difference. Theo is a good player, on his day, but they are quite spread out.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 How good does he think he is? What's the scale and what's your source? If he thinks he's a premier league, champions league and international regular, I'd say he's got decent evidence to back it up. Like most wide, fast men Theo has good days, bad days and great days. He's good but as Arsenal are severely lacking in some areas most of the time due to their woeful injury management record then he's a luxury sometimes. Webby Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 He's turned down a contract. Not the same as saying I don't wanna be here. He could be looking for an improved offer. Plus he wants to play up front, which I feel is where he needs to play. Yes, he's a good player. You don't do what he's done without being good, but I think he's got a lot of improving to do to be considered a top player. Compare him to Ashley young. Ashley is far more consistent. IMO. Good luck to Theo, but I for one expected him to be one of the star players in the prem by now, which he's clearly not.

A striker who according to Matt Le Tiss on Sky completely screwed up a one on one with the keeper by shooting far far too early !
saints-cris Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 If he played up front regularly (which he has done slightly more this season) he would be a much better player. He has been so wasted the last few seasons on the wing.
JackanorySFC Posted 24 September, 2011 Share Posted 24 September, 2011 A striker who according to Matt Le Tiss on Sky completely screwed up a one on one with the keeper by shooting far far too early ! You watched MOTD you clown? Wallcott had a blinder causing non stop problems (as he has done consistently to both Milan sides, Barca, Man U and and other global club/ country). What world football club currently in the champions league would not sign Theo if he was available? I'd guess at none - man u, Citeh, Barca et al would LOVE him! Oh sorry though, due to chamberlains goal against Shrewsbury a displays ineague 1 (2 years older than Theo was destroying the championship) means he's better than our country's brightest, scariest young player alongside whilshire eh? The boy done well Posted 25 September, 2011 Share Posted 25 September, 2011 I was at the Arse game yesterday with an old school-mate who's a mad keen Gooner. Walcott did, I think, make the first goal but as I'm no Arsenal fan I paid particular attention to Theo on and off the ball. As many have often said he does have a tendency to make the wrong decision or be in the wrong position. He is very fast but you'd expect to see him getting to the by-line more often with that pace rather than cutting inside into no man's land/brick walls as he so often seems to do. I told my Arse supporting mate that we tended to regard him more as striker than a winger. His comment after yesterday was that I must have been joking as his finishing was woeful-MLT was quite right. It's as though he's lost his composure on the ball when under pressure to score. Maybe it's a lack of confidence but whatever it is at the moment he's nothing more than just another premiership player.
