All the police have achieved here is to guarantee that the Saints support will be 99% blokes as no family are going to take their kids knowing they are going to have to spend so long fannying about with no facilities. There is one disgusting toilet (I know it can be argued the whole ground is a disgusting toilet) and as already pointed out one refreshment hut/kiosk that runs out of stock before the game starts. Well done Hampshire Police. They need to learn how to police those that want to fight rather than over police those that don't. Anyway nuff said it is what it is.

TBH I'd never take kids to fratton, but I'd be more likely with the convoy. I'll be going if I can get a ticket but I highly doubt I will as I've only been to a couple of games this season

How are the facilities at the ground the fault of the police? mong comment.

Not a mong comment at all. The facilities at the ground have to be taken into consideration, given the additional time Saints fans will be spending in there. If the facilities couldn't support the number of ticekts sold (As in toilets and refreshments) over this extended period of time (I am sure there are some rules on how long people can go without water, toilets etc.) then it would be dead before it started.

I think it is probably illegal anyway, but without access to basic facilities, then fans wishing to challenge it, wouldnt even need a solicitor, a 5 year old could win the case.

Jesus typical of some of the contributors to this site that they cannot read a post correctly. I think you have made yourself out to be the mong whatever that is mehball.

There will be toilets on the coach and take your own water with you if you are that worried. Just leave some on the coach and take a bottle into the game with no cap. Why should authorities have to do basic things for you? If you start to feel faint due to lack of water then call for St Johns Ambulance who will be at the game and can take you to the medical room with some water. If a 5 year old could win the case then why don't you take it further?

except we are going by Double Decker Buses not Coaches

Really? I very much doubt that, even if there are toilets, they will actually be open.

In any case, there are various rumours doing the rounds that it won't actually be coaches, but double decker buses being used, so the club can maximise the number of fans per vehicle and therefore minimise the total number of vehicles.

Classic Sainstweb reading. Top of the league, 5 points clear, and highly likely to smash pompey in their own back yard....

And we're getting worried over having one toilet in the away stand. I will bet you £100 there will be more then one toilet. FFS.

Our fans never cease to amaze me with their cluelessness and stupidity.

Look boys and girls, get your applications in, let’s get down to Fratton and see us put one past them in their own back yard!

Why would they if we don't?

Because their fans arent big girls.

Stop sucking thumbs, and get your applications in. It may be a poor day, however the thought of missing us beat skates at the other end of the M27 is not something I am willing do!

It's amusing that we have one thread discussing the fact that the sales of tickets in the Pompey end are a bit slow and a bunch of our fans ribbing them about poor away attendances on the takeover thread while at the same time we have a bunch of whingers and moaners on here acting like pansies because they have to get a bus 17 miles down the road and there might not be many toilets. Christ.

If I was a Pompey fan reading this thread I'd be cracked up. Sort it out.

Yep. The bubble is a joke BUT this is Pompey, if we don't sell out to STH's I think it would be rubbish of us, let alone if we don't sell out at all.

Final post on this subject PLLLEAAASSE. Wish I hadn't started it now. For the slower ones amongst you the basic point is that the only thing the Police have achieved is that by introducing the bubble and its attached inconveniences they will have put families off (the very people they want to attract) and restricted it to the lads (the very people they want to discourage) who don't care about (or who only have themselves to care about) the inconveniences it will cause. I have been to Fratton on four occasions to see Saints with little or no problems from their fans - there is no need for the bubble. If you have been there and been beaten up then I suspect you may have a different view.

How many applications have there been so far? I'd be amazed if it's over 1000.

I reckon there will be 1500 + tickets available in the 18 day window when they go on general sale and I don't think we'll shift them all.

Not sure how reliable this is but saw someone say on Twitter earlier that application numbers are approaching the 2,500 mark.

How dare you call these people whingers and moaners. This police action is completely over the top and treats everybody like a convicted criminal. Illegal immigrants and sheeep to the slaughter are treated better. We are responsible adults in a free society and should be treated as such.

I agree it's over the top but there's nothing we can do about it now. It's one game of the season where we are are required to be hearded about in this draconian way so we may as well just get on with it. For anyone (elderly, small kids and disabled apart) to not want to go to the BIGGEST away game of the season because of the bubble restrictions, well it makes no sense to me.

Last season at Notts County a bunch of maybe 10 or 12 of us got escorted from a pub to the ground. Police told us we couldn't leave the pub and made us all wait until 10 mins before kick off before marching us down to the ground. We weren't being treated like responsible adults that day either.

None of it will matter though if we smash a few goals past them on 18th December. I can't wait for the ticker tape reception the returning coaches get when we roll into Southampton.

If I'm lucky enough to get a ticket I'm going. I'll travel the 11 miles from my house in Wickham to St Marys, get on a 22 mile coach trip to fratton waving at my wife as I go past my house, watch my team at fratton which is only 12 miles from home and then do it all again in reverse order. Can't wait it'll be great.

They ARE using the Solent Blue double deckers. Have heard from somebody working for Solent Blue thanks to a mutual twitter friend.

Solent Blue Line buses hold 76 passengers, according to their website.

76 passengers at £12 per person = £912 per bus. 42 buses for a 3,200 capacity = £38,304.

Not a bad little money spinner.

Can anyone tell me where exactly do the travel coaches pickup from in Winchester. The Police article mentioned a statue of a man on a horse. Is this the one where all the tramps and goths hang out in the town centre, just by all the posh shops? Before anyone suggests it, I've already looked on there for more detail than just "Departs from the St Mary's Stadium with pick-ups en-route at Eastleigh, Winchester and Chieveley services.", but the whole site is about as much use as tits on a bull.

Pretty sure the coaches in Winchester pick up next to the statue of King Alfred, at the bottom of town.

what do you think the score will be with alcohol on coaches.. in say a coke bottle?? Will the OB be pretty hot on this?

I have a feeling that there will be bag checks as we get on the bus and any drinks bottle that looks as though it has been opened the contents will be checked and if it is found to be alcohol it will be taken off the person and the Club/OB could well refuse the person concerned to travel, and they may well check the contents of flasks as well.

It'll be a difficult game. I'm not sure why Saints fans are being overly confident about this one. Even Pompey fans are unnecessarily quaking it. Yes, we're storming the league but this is Pompey and football is football. It's likely they'll install Appleton today and he could get them playing good football. Our away form isn't convincing.

Exactly. Their first eleven isn't too bad at all, better than a fair few teams in this league, plus it'll be their cup final, every one of them will be massively up for it trying to prove a point, plus their crowd will get behind them and make it tough for our players. Certainly surprised how overly confident some of our fans are.

Anyone who thinks it will be an easy win for us is mad, just look at their last few home resultsl

3-0 v Forest

3-1 v Doncaster

2-0 v Barnsley

2-3 v P'boro

1-0 v Blackpool

1-1 v Cardiff

1-0 v Reading

they are clearly hard to beat at Fratton

Considering people are openly talking about it on here and the OB and club read this site, i would suggest even if they weren't they will be now.

Been told today by ticket office it will be Buses without toilets for trip down to Pompey.

So I think the toilets at St Mary's will be very busy before departure

FFS, what a joke. When I've had a few beers I pisz like racehorse and I plan on having more than a few before getting on that coach.

No toilets on the coaches, 1 toilet at the ground.

Will just have to wear a fckin nappie.

those buses are uncomfy as fck aswell especially if have to sit on for hour+...bull to the shi t.

Kick the emergency escape window out and start p*ssing out of there, whilst chanting 'We are Southampton, we do what we want'.

It'll be a walk over on and off the pitch. We don't sing songs about Barcelona and "We're coming for you" for no reason.

Massive club.

Sorry, you're right. i'm forgetting we are the new Barcelona on the pitch and the new Millwall off it.

Talking of the "we're coming for you" song, considering the 1,000s that sing it every week, the ballot application must be close to 10,000 by now.

if we don't sell out it will be very embarrassing and give the skates a lot of bragging rights when it comes to support, 32k home crowds means nothing if we can't take 10% of that down the road for an away game.

They will fill their end at our place 100%
