Travel arrangements for us V skates

"The disorder in 2010 outside St Mary’s Stadium did not occur because Portsmouth fans were let out in to the north car park. It occurred because a number of fans tried to breach the sterile area in Britannia Road to get to the Pompey fans."

Just a small selection of the nonsense in the Hampshire OB article.

...yes, because you let them out at the same time you ****tards!

What a load of ********. Clueless.

Has anyone else noticed that under the question "What legislation are you doing this under" (or words to that affect), they don't actually answer the question by quoting an appropriate act.

Makes my blood boil the amount of 'weazelness' involved in policing football matches in this country. For the last 30 years football fans in this country have been treated like scum.

I'm going to put my ballot in, but still undecided whether to go or not.

The alternative is a day in the pub, £42 richer, with no OB, coaches, or skates in sight, the freedom to move, and plenty of beer at hand. Unfortunately, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to not go.

Got to go. As **** as it sounds its just got to be done. Plus we can't NOT sell out down there.

Behave. It wouldn't surprise me if the coaches leave at 9am and depart Fratton at 6pm.

nor me and as for this""Q: I like to enjoy a drink at the match. Will there be drink at the ground? Can I bring it with me?

A: No, I’m afraid you can’t. The logistics of Fratton Park are such that there are no bars at the away supporters end, but there will be plenty of access to soft drink, hot drinks and fast food "

do they mean the one drink place in the away end that ran out of drinks before the start on our last visit

A: No, I’m afraid you can’t. The logistics of Fratton Park are such that there are no bars at the away supporters end, but there will be plenty of access to soft drink, hot drinks and fast food concessions. It is illegal to carry or consume alcohol on a coach to a designated football match. This is prohibited under the terms of the Football Spectators Act 1989.

What a fun packed day the OB and Cortese have in store for everyone. And I deliberately mention Cortese because let us not forget this decision was as a result of talks between the OB and the club.

The best outcome would be for there to be empty seats. That would well and truely p/ss on the fire of the police/Cortese claiming a great success.

Sadly, I don't believe it would. I would actually almost bet on the fact that the police are hoping for lower numbers, as it makes their job easier. And I doubt the clubs are all that bothered either.

It strikes me that the clubs really wouldn't be fussed if the police "instructed" them that all future games had to be home-fans only. It would certainly save spending out on such a mammoth policing effort.

Regarding the mystery over the allocation I have a theory.

It could well be 3200, but if we don't sell enough tickets they'll say it's 2500 and create a "sterile area" just so the poor sales can't be used against the police state tactics.

Well the attitude towards fans from outside the area by not posting out coach passes speaks volumes. It is utterly ludicrous. And this leads me to believe that it's probably Cortese's idea because a) he doesn't care about fans b) he loves the idea of charging a booking fee without having p+p to pay for.

I don't give a f**k about proving a point by not selling out. How any Saints fan can pass at an opportunity to see us win at Fratton is beyond me.

You pay for my diesel to drive down and pick up coach tickets (60 quid will cover it) and i'll hold your hand on the day.

No. You're clearly not interested enough in going if you don't want to pay that.

God knows how though. A potential win at Fratton is priceless.

I've not missed a derby match home or away since 1996. But this time the OB/Cortese (as the whole bubble scheme is as a result of talks between both parties + PFC) have made it too much effort for what will effectively be a police state outing. I guess that this sort of thing is normal in Italy/Spain where they are used to dictatorial rule.

I do agree with this.

The bubble trip; I don't necessarily agree that we've completely bypassed other measures (such as holdback and segregation after the game) to get to where we are, but clearly something had to change from years gone past and while the bubble is draconian, it's a tried and tested procedure for minimising trouble. The sad actions of a number of fans from both sides has therefore unfortunately led to this.

Not mailing out coach tickets though is just unexplainable, at least by any rational logic. And it totally smacks of making attending the match as hard as possible for supporters, IMO.

Apologies if I've missed it, but can you not collect your coach ticket on the morning of the game, would make sense for those that have to travel any distance to SMS?

That would be logical, wouldn't it?

No, the club have said that they will not allow that. The coach ticket has to be collected prior to the day itself.

The ticket office will be closed on the day of the match.

has anyone asked the Club why they insist on making it as hard as possible to get a ticket for this match??

I honestly can't be bothered to jump through all the hoops only to be fccked around on the day of the match. Plus it goes against my better instincts of being told what I can and cannot do.

I predict us not selling out.

Sadly I can see this happening too. In previous years we've had a much lower allocation and it's always gone well beyond the ballot. Add in the travel restrictions, most notably for those who live outside Southampton, plus all the other little bits and pieces (plus that it's on terrestrial TV) and I just wouldn't be surprised if we were well below capacity on the day.

I too agree with this post.

A group of around ten of our regular crowd were up to going to this, but no way are we going to spend our hard earned money to then be treated like children(we are all over forty), by both the clubs and the police.

Think we will all make a trip into town to watch the match in one of the pubs instead.

The FSF made a few suggestions here about what can be done, though even if implemented the impact would be marginal:

http://footballsupportersfederation.org/news/Bubble-trouble-for-Burnley-fans.php

In our experience at the FSF it’s very difficult (if not impossible) to get police to backtrack from a bubble match once they’ve set their sights on it BUT there are a number of things we’ll be asking the police and clubs to promise:

Disabled fans must be exempt from this.

Exiled fans should be picked up en route or have tickets posted upon proof of address – this should be easy to administer as they’ll be season ticket holders anyway.

The police change the timings on this trip – forcing people to wait in an empty stadium for more than two hours is unacceptable.

We’d recommend fans email the above demands to their club and think of ways they can fight these matches happening in future.

Can't see Nicola agreeing to pick me up from my house in London somehow but it might be worth emailing the club to try to get it toconcede on collecting a coach pass in person.

I see also that Wales based Wolves fans managed to get individual concessions allowing independent travel to a match with Cardiff but that was 2008.

Just wondering what is gona happen when I refuse to get on the coach back after ...and say others did too.

Why would you even want to do that? You've paid good money for the coach trip, chances are we will just have torn them a new arshole in their own backyard, and you want to leave the safety of a police escort and take your chances on the streets of the English Baghdad. Good luck!

Have handed in my ballot paper as I've done at least 6-7 away games already and that will more than likely rise to 8 if I include Doncaster-(?!) as Bristol City's Sold Out!

I take it that the OB will be travelling with us there and back on the coaches or what!?!

Also we'l all be F***** if the coaches to get glassed/bricked as I for one won't fancy travelling back by coach with Glass and that but we'l see!

COYR :D!!!

OK we've all had a moan about the situation but now it's time to stop crying and all the soft ***** looking for excuses to melt away from this trip should man up and just tough it out for a couple of hours of inconvenience. Your team could do with you there and if we walk away with 3 points it will stay with all those present for a long time (1984 is still particularly sweet) while all the other lightweights will be forever saying "I wish I was there".

Priority for Brighton away tickets should go to a ballot of attendees on Dec 18th.

Completely agree. It's the first game I looked for on the fixture list. The one away game where you can guarantee the adrenaline will be flowing whatever happens. £42 and a couple of hours fannying around on coaches for the chance of rimming Pompey at Fratton? Yes please.
