Getting back to the 10 day window (8th December - 18th December) for non season ticket holders to hand collect their travel passes, can anyone explain this decision?

For fans that don't live in the area it's going to a real inconvenience and a huge expense.

Where have you seen this window??? Not seen anything about non season ticket holders?

I rang up the ticket office and ST holders will discover on or before 1st December whether they have been sucessful. Therefore the next phase of sales will commence after the 1st. That leaves 18 days for a second general balot, and I think it's reasonable to guestimate that the subsequent window for collection will be about 10 days prior to the game.

Even without a balot for non ST holders it's leave 18 days and people outside of the area would still have the problem of having to travel down to pick up their coach pass in a short window just before Christmas. It'd cost me 60 quid to drive down and back and that is crazy when it could be posted out.

Note how the club are talking a booking fee for this game, so 3 quid and they're not even paying for any postage.

I'd even be willing to pay more on top of the swindling booking fee for special delivery/recorded delivery to save on diesel.

You assume any remaining tickets will go on sale; has there been anything to confirm this? I haven't seen in anywhere, and perhaps wouldn't be surprised if it was season-ticket holders only for this game.

Usually Dune is just on a bit of a wind up, but this time I completely agree. I live about £40 worth of petrol away and feel like we are already being punished for not living in Southampton by having to get the coach from there. Not posting the tickets really is inexplicable.

I was told that any remaining after the first balot will then be made available to non st holders.

Might be worth you ringing the club up to. I rang the booking line and got the number for the proper ticket office. Ask to speak with a supervisor and let him know that you too think it's a huge inconvenience and a big expense.

I'm in a similar position but if you're a season ticket holder you'll be down for the Blackpool game anyway?

Given the competence (or lack of) of the majority of the SFC TO staff, I'm going to trust the skates OS on this one regarding the allocation. 3200 must be the whole end, which would make sense as splitting the stand would be more difficult to police than if we just had the whole stand with the corners to keep us separate from the skates.

9 UNTIL 4 for restrictions warned my 2 sons in advance it would be a long day

As the game will finish around 3.00pm and if the road will be reopened by 4 it suggests the OB intend to get us out of there pretty smartish. By the time they've marched us all back to the buses and then shifted all 60 out of the place says they're not hanging about. And they're not going to shut the road at the last minute, 9 o'clock just gives them plenty of time to get things organised properly. I can't see any buses pulling up before 11.00am at the earliest.

The Pompey OS says turnstiles open at 11.30am, so I'll be very surprised if any away coaches turn up before then.

Been told we are going in double decked Blue Star like Buses so that we can get by with approx 45 because they do not have room for 60 single deck coaches.

That would be taking hte p**s! Got to put us in actual proper coaches as a minimum?

it sure would, £12 per passenger on a double decker which holders 80 people at least they would be raking it in!!!

plus no toilets on board.

I've heard the same as 70's Mike. No idea if it's true, but it would be a right **** take.

That would be a joke if bus with no toilets...I plan on getting piszed at home before geting on coach/bus and a toilet will be a necessity.

only good thing about buses is prob get away with smoking upstairs.

Anything would be preferable to driving a diesel.

It'll be like Cliff Richard's Summer Holiday.

Has anyone asked the TO if tickets are transferable? My wife isn't sure if she wants to go or not but we're thinking she might as well apply still as a mate could use the ticket.

Its 40 mins on a bus or a coach ffs, the way some of you lot are crying about it you would think they are going via Carlisle or something

travel time but last time we sat on the thing for 30mins at sms,20mins when we arrived at fratton, and another 30 after being let out of ground.plus lack of facilities at fratton , weak bladders need not apply for tickets

That thing they call a toilet in the left hand corner as you look towards the pitch is worse than the one that was in The Milton - West Stand corner at The Dell back in the day, correction their ground is worse than that toilet.

sorry if this has already been posted, but any official indication of time coaches will leave SMS. I need to plan getting down from LOndon that day and want to make sure it is possible

I phoned up the ticket office a while ago to check, because my first train of the day doesn't get into Central until 11:0.

The coaches definately leave before then, I think its 10:30, but may be a bit later. Anyway, it rules me out

How many applications have there been so far? I'd be amazed if it's over 1000.

I reckon there will be 1500 + tickets available in the 18 day window when they go on general sale and I don't think we'll shift them all.

Around provisionally 11am I've heard

Im not sure if I can be bothered at all anymore... leaving home at 9am to train it to soton, to get on a bus at 11, to get off the bus about 4, to get back home for a beer for 6pm!.. oh and theres 90 minutes of footy in between!

Think I will just go find a decent large pub in southampton city centre, enjoy some good beers, watch the game in HD, celebrate my freedom of movement etc... Does anyone know of any 'restrictions' on Southampton pubs... or are they all open as usual?

Sigh

That sounds a better day than the school trip to Pompey. However for me having to drive down to pick up the coach pass is the deal breaker. With regret I won't be bothering.

having experienced the last two nightmare trips there is no way I'm gonna miss out on this one. Nothing is quite like celebrating an away win at **** park surely?

Does anybody know if they're going to want to see ID for the 17-22 tickets? Two of my lot fall in that category and was going to take the ballot down later but don't want to go down then be turned away.

I doubt it, they can check on the turnstile still.

I didn't get asked when I put the forms in for me and my nipper. I know the ticket office is a bit of a joke lately but as they've already asked everyone for id when renewing their seaso tickets I guess they will just check it against the customer number.

I rang the TO in the end and they don't want to see it. One of them is 21, so doesn't fall into any of the Saints concessions and never had to give ID, was just wondering if they would query that really.

Here's hoping 2 aways is enough.

You'll be fine mate. I reckon all season ticket holders who apply will get a ticket. There will probably even be a couple of hundred left for members to fight over. The whole situation has been dealt by the police like an absolute circus and i know of plenty of season ticket holders who now aren't bothering to go. I haven't yet decided whether a day relaxing down the pub is my preferred option. The more i hear (the double-decker bus thing - you gotta be kidding me???), the more i think i'll jus stay in Southampton and not be pushed around unnecessarily by police.

"The disorder in 2010 outside St Mary’s Stadium did not occur because Portsmouth fans were let out in to the north car park. It occurred because a number of fans tried to breach the sterile area in Britannia Road to get to the Pompey fans."

Just a small selection of the nonsense in the Hampshire OB article.

I'm going to put my ballot in, but still undecided whether to go or not.

The alternative is a day in the pub, £42 richer, with no OB, coaches, or skates in sight, the freedom to move, and plenty of beer at hand. Unfortunately, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to not go.
