as they hurled themselves in on top of us from the Fratton end, across the pitch and into where we were under Main Stand.

Ended up going home via the Gosport Ferry and Bus to Town

jumped in the back of a meatwagon(voluntarily) after being chased all round fratton, then in the train guards wagon until we got past fareham. Happy days

There isn't an away season ticket holder scheme this season, is there?

I joined as an away season ticket holder a few years ago. It's definitely still running. There is no financial benefit from joining but, as an earlier poster suggested, it takes all of the hassle out of buying tickets individually if you're going to go to all the away games anyway.

Is anyone on here a season ticket holder that won't be going to Pompey away? The likelihood is that there is a good few thousand. If you're not going to Pompey and would like to let a well behaved young gentleman who has gone to pretty much every game this season use their season ticket in order to go to Pompey, it would be much appreciated.

Was going to ask the same thing, BUT how will that work around collecting your ticket on the coach ??

I assume everyone will be issued with a SFC "match" ticket which will let you board the coach, with match tickets handed out by the steward once the coaches have left SMS.

I totally agree with you. It appears that criminals in the nick have more notice taken of their human rights than football fans. What it needs is somebody to mount a legal challenge.

It'll be interesting to see whether the Pompey fans who travel to Southampton in April will be subjected to the same restraints. If not, I for one will be kicking up a fuss.

Going by coach from SMS is a massive inconvenience for me and will also cost me more money, my original plan was to get a train direct from Croydon into Fratton. As I don't wear colours to games anyway, it would have been relatively straightforward to keep my head down and get from the station to the ground.

If the club want to insist I get the bingo bus that's fine but I will have to insist on decorating it with a dirty great big F*CK OFF SKATES banner. If the driver doesn't like it he can do one, that's a more than fair compromise.

you should grow up - coach drivers have regulations that they must abide by and allowing you to behave like a twelve year old tw*t is not one of them. Coach drivers have a tough job to do at the best of times.

Coach drivers were on treble time last time at Fratton. They know exactly what they are in for.

I hope I never have to be in your company at football. Talk about miserable, the bloke was only having a laugh and a joke.

I am fully behind a big '**** off Skates' banner

Got to say this is health and safety gone mad! Football is probably as safe as it has ever been nowadays. I really want to go, but for the sake of saving myself the expense and time, I think I'll watch this one at home. No doubt Saints fans will be kept in for atleast 30 mins after the game so it's a long day out.

I would have felt safer taking the train. My neighbour went via coach in the 2004 game and got pelted with ashtrays as they went past the pubs. If all the local scrotes know we will be arriving in a big convoy it wont be hard for them to use us as target practice and there wont be much the rozzers can do to stop them.

out of interest do you also have to pay the £3 booking fee for each game?

You just know that the buses will turn up 2 mins before kick off & then kept in for 60 more after the game. Think i will watch on TV ... to much hassle.

certainly a lot of hassle, but the chance to witness us beating them at their place has to be worth it surely?

+ at least £5 for parking at SMS or Bursledon, I reckon this is why they haven't let us get on at our usual stop at Eastleigh. This is annoying as I live a 5 min walk from the Eastleigh pick up and get the bingo bus from there when not driving to away games.

I reckon there will be empty seats.
Not in our end.

As much of a pain in the arse as this is. It's still the first time we've been to Fratton in over 6 years, and we have a big chance of getting a result there.

We'll sell those tickets.

I'll have 4 aways so I'm safe as houses for tickets but what a ball ache. Might have to stay in Soton overnight beforehand.

Said to my 9yo nipper that we may have to miss it but when he burst into tears and told me that it was the 1 away game that really mattered and he knew we were going to beat them and wanted to be there to see it and didn't care if he didn't go to another away game this season, I knew that we'd be there.

The f*ckers have killed this game off 2 months before kick off. Next it will be a DNA sample and retina scan. Total madness and as some people have already pointed out the coaches will be targets all the way from the Fareham junction on the M27. The only consolation being that the vermin will also be similarly treated in the return game.

Maybe, but it will go to general sale as it always has done and that is without having to jump through hoops. It's because of the restrictions and the ballot process that I think it won't sell out because despite the hype we've always struggled to shift tickets for derby games.

With our continueing success, surely it's time for the club to implement some sort of loyalty point system? All this "average away game" stuff must be a logistical nightmare for them. How much easier would it be to say all those STH's with x amount of points are entitled to a ticket. Job done.

The biggest annoyance for me is having to use the specialised f*cking ballot form - the link to which, by the way, doesn't work for me - as I don't have a printer.

And as has been said above, i'd have felt much safer on the train with no colours on.

They give out forms at the ticket office, at least they did last season when we had a ballot.

The travel arrangements do seem over the top. Guess I'll be losing the deposit on the Red Funnel ferry I'd hired out.

Hope so, it's not mentioned anywhere in the article. Cheers for the heads up.
