angelman Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMTktrNz_LI Saw a bit on the news this morning......After being ordered to play 2 games behind closed doors, fernebache came to an arrangement to allow only women and kids in. Apparently they gave out some free tickets, but still got just shy of 42,000 who seemed to give it a good go. Wonder how many would turn up for a UK team if that was the condition and whether they would go for it with the same vigour. Impressive.
stu0x Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 I understood that all the tickets were free, on the basis that the penalty is supposed to be partly financial. Also Fenerbahce are one of the 'big three' Istanbul clubs that account for the vast majority of fans in Turkey, and they are, like Barcelona (and arguably more successfully than Barca,) a sports club that competes in many fields, and very successful in most. All that being said, it's not that much of a surprise they managed to attract so many. The closest equivalent would be to ask if United would manage to attract 40,000 women and children to Old Trafford for free - I'd suggest they would.
Essruu Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 Wonder how many would turn up for a UK team if that was the condition and whether they would go for it with the same vigour. Impressive. Unlikely. The annoying idiot woman behind us on Saturday screamed "20 MINUTES?" when Lallana was substituted, thinking that was how much injury time had been declared.
skintsaint Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 too high pitched when that goal went in...wasnt right.
angelman Posted 22 September, 2011 Author Posted 22 September, 2011 Maybe but I wonder if they would be as animated. And there are some really tasty birds there
dubai_phil Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/columnists/oliver-brown/8779971/Turkish-women-lead-the-way-in-the-feminisation-of-football.html OK so well done to Fernebache for coming up with the idea to get around the sanctions So many women, so little time....
Golden Balls Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 Impressive atmosphere from 40,000 women to be fair. I would assume in England it would be like an England U20s atmosphere, or worse.
JRM Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 No, in England we'd still get loads of lads in the ground, turning up at the game in cunning disguises of dresses and wigs.
Golden Balls Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 They said on TalkSport yesterday that exactly what happened there but they were turned away. Maybe a few would get through, not many though.
Dog Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 Don't worry scotty, I've just posted your ex-misses on the muppet thread.
Dr Who? Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 Unlikely. The annoying idiot woman behind us on Saturday screamed "20 MINUTES?" when Lallana was substituted, thinking that was how much injury time had been declared. Ha ha ha ha DUMB IDIOT!!
Wurzel Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 too high pitched when that goal went in...wasnt right. You obviously never went to an England Schoolboys game at the old Wembley
1976_Child Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 women have no place in football. End of story.
