Amazon control the price so unlikely to get anything discounted more than a pound or 2. USA is the best place if you happen to be going - other than that go for a refurb

Main advantage is if you travel a lot that:

a) you can get books without paying extra for local wifi

b) Kindle includes basic browser so you can do things like check email, confirm flights from it at no extra cost (most of the extra you pay for the 3g is so you can have worldwide 3g access without paying more than the purchase price).

Never really understood it on a Kindle.

 

My missus, the bookworm, thanks me everyday for buying her the 3G version. No matter where she is when she finishes a book, or wants to download a newspaper, she just goes on there and downloads. She loves it. The 3G is paid for by Amazon, and really, it's not too much more than the Wifi only version. The only moan she has, is that it's costing her a small fortune because she reads so much!
