Kissing the badge!?

May well have this wrong!? On the sky sports app Alex is pictured kissing the Arsenal badge!?

Fair play he's got his big move and cash etc.. But a bit early for that isn't it???

I went to the game last night and my reaction to that was simply "hmmmm". Very strange.

He played a slightly odd role last night, almost as a defensive right-midfielder, allowing Carl Dickinson to overlap on a regular basis and slotting in at right-back to cover for him, when his strength would be playing high up the pitch and attacking the opposing full-back. When he got on the ball he did look dangerous, as you'd expect against a League Two side, but that didn't really happen enough.

First they take Stevie Williams, then Theo, then Oxo and now Granty.

Enjoy the prawn sandwiches you ******* turncoat ;)

would a photo show me ramming my tongue down his throat?

:)

Wouldn't be the first time.

As for kissing the badge I always think that's a bit weird anyway. A thumping of the left chest with right hand, maybe with an additional thumbs up, would to me indicate that you are proud to be wearing the shirt / proud of the club. But kissing a badge - unless you are a one club wonder like MLT - just makes a player look like a slapper who'll **** anyone for the right money.

Personally I'm a big fan of Lamberts fist pumping celebration. Though for pure crowd pleasing you can't beat a bit of Papa Wagio styleee (though TBF he's problably the only person who could get away with that)

Dickinson? Is that Jenkinson's new name? ;)

Heard about this on twitter last night. Its disappointing. I'd put it down to being young and naive. But who can say they weren't a naive knob at 18? I certainly was. and I wasn't earning 10s of thousands of pounds a week at the time. Good luck to you Chambo, but please remember that legendary status isn't earned over night. Kissing a badge means nothing to fans if he leaves Arsenal after getting a better offer in a short space of time, as we all know.

Haha what a complete jerk!

When we next get Arsenal to SMS, I reckon Theo will get warm applause and Chamberlain will get booed

He will deserve it too

Why? What has Theo done that Alex hasn't, other than p*ss off to warm Arsenal's bench 6 months earlier?

I really don't get all the hate for AOC. He hasn't slagged the club off and always played to the best of his considerable tallent when he was here. I don't think he should have left, but if anything it will hinder him, not Saints. We have a fantastic squad and an extra £12m in our pockets, why so bitter?

As for badge kissing, it's arse gravy. Alan Smith wandered around Elland Road kissing the badge after his last ever Leeds game. 2 weeks later he was at Man Utd.

Just up on the Gunner's website:

“I owe them massively - I’d been at Southampton since I was seven,” he said. “They put so much hard work into me and the fans down there welcomed me into the first team so warmly.

“I couldn’t have asked for more, so I’ve got a lot of time for them and I hope to be able to play there again one day and show my appreciation. I’ll always have a place in my heart for them.”

Southampton have enjoyed a flying start to their Championship campaign after going up from League One last season and are already being tipped for a second consecutive promotion. Oxlade-Chamberlain would love to see his old friends in the top flight.

“One major factor down there is that it’s such a great group of lads - one of the hardest things about leaving was the boys,” he said. “Whoever comes in is welcomed straightaway, much like here at Arsenal.

“Everyone down there has been going for the same thing, and they’ve had that continuity - they haven’t had many players leaving or coming in, it’s still the tight group that was promoted last season, and I think the lift promotion gave them was massive.

“Things are looking good down at Southampton.”

didn't Leo signed a contract when he didn't need to ensure Saints got a transfer fee. Not sure Alex signed his Saints contract for those reasons.

Sorry, but the situation with Theo and AOC was very different. AOC couldn't wait to get away and his old man was a total dickhead and was engineering the move for a while. Fortunately we have a shrewd chairman who got a massive payment for such an inexperienced player, a player leaving a club on the up but with no compunction about going. Theo's situation was very very different, but to be fair to Lowe who I usually hate, he was also very shrewd and did a good deal when it was needed, Theo's departure was inevitable given our precarious financial state at the time, and Theo acted with good grace and ensured together with Lowe that we got a tremendous deal given we were only assured of a tribunal fee. Alos, Theo's father was not a **** like Oxo's. Personally I have no bad feeling against Oxo, but I sure do against his skate father.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I've read people on here saying things of a new signing for us like "..and it was great to see him kiss the badge today.. he'll be a fan's favourite.." or words to that effect.

As to the "thumping the left chest with a thumbs up" I thought that all started with Jimmy Dickinson still playing for the Skates at 47 or whatever, conveying to the Pompey manager after an attack that "it's ok, the ticker has restarted".
