stevegrant Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 I've been contacted by the manager of the Watford internet supporters' team asking if we can raise a team to play them in the morning before the Saints v Watford game on Saturday 1st October. No venue has been arranged yet (although most likely to be Fleming Park in Eastleigh) but will be done as soon as I get confirmation that we've got enough players. The cost will be £5 per player to cover pitch fees and washing the kit. Likely to be a 10.30 or 11.00 kick-off, if you fancy playing (it'll be rolling subs, so you won't necessarily need to be able to last a full 90 minutes!), please let me know.
Colinjb Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 Wash the kit? You mean that Saintsweb has a kit? I may be available... but honestly, you should only field me as a last resort, I'm genuinely sh!te!!
stevegrant Posted 20 September, 2011 Author Posted 20 September, 2011 SaintsWeb doesn't have a kit, the long-standing Southampton IFC team has a kit, which I have possession of.
B Rabbit Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 Me Stu and Scott all say yes....although i haven't spoken to the other 2 yet..
Raging Bull Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 Will try to make it, haven't played for a while though, also quite left footed so anywhere down the left pls.
locksheathsaint101 Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 May come to play. No way am I giving my username out though. Bunch of loons on here.
Dr Who? Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 I will ref if the toe has not got any better, if I can kick a ball I will play, as I should be down that weekend.
Dazza82 Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 Count me in mate, havent played for you lot for a while lol!
SaintAndy14 Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 Am happy to play if needed! My brother is pretty decent and probably would too (he's a user on here)
bowers-sfc Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 count me in! leftback or centre back or centre mid.
forever a red and white Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 i might be up for this but am a liability
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 I'll play Striker CM RM in that order lol
The9 Posted 22 September, 2011 Posted 22 September, 2011 I'll take the number 9 shirt. I believe seniority rules are in effect.
stevegrant Posted 23 September, 2011 Author Posted 23 September, 2011 Could those who I don't know (probably most of those who have posted!) let me know what position(s) they play in and to what sort of standard?
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 23 September, 2011 Posted 23 September, 2011 Ill be up for this center mid sat/sun league 2-3
B Rabbit Posted 23 September, 2011 Posted 23 September, 2011 I believe seniority rules are in effect. Yes, you probably are the most senior player in the squad.....
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2011 Posted 23 September, 2011 I can play anywhere down the right. Only throw me in if there is no other option though.
Dazza82 Posted 23 September, 2011 Posted 23 September, 2011 Could those who I don't know (probably most of those who have posted!) let me know what position(s) they play in and to what sort of standard? Do you remember my positions?
bpsaint Posted 24 September, 2011 Posted 24 September, 2011 Steve is it on grass or astro turf? If it's grass count me in too, preferably at CB or RB.
The9 Posted 25 September, 2011 Posted 25 September, 2011 Yes, you probably are the most senior player in the squad..... In many ways... standard, experience, age, knowledge of injuries you can get playing football, I bet I've scored more goals than anyone else in the squad too (but then I've had 30 years to do it)!
stevegrant Posted 26 September, 2011 Author Posted 26 September, 2011 Steve is it on grass or astro turf? If it's grass count me in too, preferably at CB or RB. It'll be grass. Should have confirmed details this evening, so will post a full squad list then.

I dont know if your being serious or not but incase you are (I apologise if your not) I doubt it.
stevegrant Posted 26 September, 2011 Author Posted 26 September, 2011 [/b] I dont know if your being serious or not but incase you are (I apologise if your not) I doubt it. To be fair, he's probably right, and I expect myself and a few of the team regulars have heard about every single one at some point over the years

Ekelund24 Posted 26 September, 2011 Posted 26 September, 2011 Shin Great, now that bloody link will appear again ;-)
Raging Bull Posted 26 September, 2011 Posted 26 September, 2011 To be fair, he's probably right, and I expect myself and a few of the team regulars have heard about every single one at some point over the years Who's The9 ? The reason I ask is because I played at quite a high level & am only a couple of years older.
stevegrant Posted 26 September, 2011 Author Posted 26 September, 2011 OK, squad list as far as I can tell, comprising those who gave me positions. Real names where known, much easier for me to do it that way. GK: Scott Barnard DF: Andy Porter, Darren Cave, Scott Phillips, Adam Moore, Kev Thornton, bowers-sfc, Carl Noyce MF: Chris Knight, Stu Holloway, Ben Coombes, Ash Drouet, Pete Stephens ST: Steve Grant, Scott Griffin, Brad Smirk, Barrie Jarman This squad is not closed, so if anybody else wants to be added, please let me know. That includes those who have identified themselves on this thread without telling me where you play. Kick-off will be 10.30am at Fleming Park Leisure Centre in Eastleigh, please be there by 10am at the latest. For those who don't know the venue, the football changing rooms are in the old hut-like building to the left-hand side of the main leisure centre building, opposite the tennis courts. You will need shin pads and boots, probably worth bringing some white socks as well if you've got some, not entirely sure I've got enough of those in the kitbag. It would be helpful if everyone could PM me a contact email (if your email gets sent to your phone) or mobile number so I can keep you informed if there are any problems on the day etc. I can then also give you my details so you can let me know if you're running late, etc. If you can't PM, my Hotmail address is on my profile.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 26 September, 2011 Posted 26 September, 2011 Nice one. Have you got a keeper kit or do I need to bring my own?

stevegrant Posted 27 September, 2011 Author Posted 27 September, 2011 Nice one. Have you got a keeper kit or do I need to bring my own? I've got one, but it's fair to say the shirt is proper fat bastard size, so probably worth bringing your own if you've got one
stevegrant Posted 27 September, 2011 Author Posted 27 September, 2011 Defender..... He told me he wanted to play in midfield, which, given the number of defenders already in the squad, I'm fine with.
The9 Posted 27 September, 2011 Posted 27 September, 2011 (edited) Who's The9 ? The reason I ask is because I played at quite a high level & am only a couple of years older. I'm nobody, but if you're even older than me and you're in the squad, then maybe you have scored more. I was going on the balance of probability, given that I'm 38 and have played against a lot of crap defences in rubbish local leagues. Unfortunately most of the nine goals in one game at County level stuff is well in the past and I'm an injury-prone never-was now... but I have scored against Watford fans home and away before. I like this little sequence though (from 18 Oct 2008, we lost 5-4 at Fleming Park ): Edited 27 September, 2011 by The9
The9 Posted 27 September, 2011 Posted 27 September, 2011 (edited) I also like this one : and this one. Who are ya ?! Edited 27 September, 2011 by The9
The9 Posted 27 September, 2011 Posted 27 September, 2011 The pics I have from the 2007 match in Bushey (the game we played up there despite not actually playing Watford that day) are not as good, but here's one for LOLz. I didn't actually note the score of this one, so we must have got stuffed, but it was 15th September 2007.

The9 Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 An easy pass to bansai chap but you decide to hog the ball as always! I noticed his shorts were not of regulation style and refused to pass it. Whatever happened to that set of blue kit anyway ? I used to quite enjoy wearing James Beattie's shorts - though possibly not as much as you and Kev liked wearing Crouch's.
B Rabbit Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 His name is Ben. Has he agreed to play, paid the match fee and then pulled out? WN09 WN10
The9 Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 (edited) Has he agreed to play, paid the match fee and then pulled out? WN09 WN10 You also missed Saints Forever v Pompey Online at Moneyfields, when he had a squad number allocated and shirt printed with his name on it and still didn't turn up. Wasn't he living in Spain for WN09, and claiming to be coming until the day before ? Edited 29 September, 2011 by The9

Steve, I have a full set of plain red Umbro socks with white feet (about 20 pairs) if you'd like to "refresh" the kit a little - I'm not giving them away, but they're an extremely reasonable price if you want them, considering they're England socks and were £10 a pair when launched.
saint_stevo Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I will limp, moan and kick some people. Probaby also get cramp. Last time i wore the IFC kit, Mr Cruciate took a turn for the worst. Also, if we have The9 up front we better lump it. Not sure even he remembers the last goal he got with his feet.....
