CFSFC Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 I fancy us in any game at the moment, but we will hit a sticky patch f'sure... Preston next, one game at a time.

saint_jas Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 All 7 are winnable, and losable! Sums up this league. Would be delighted to win the 3 home games and get a draw or 2 away. I don't think the odd away loss is disastrous whatsoever. So long as we keep playing our game and creating lots I'll be happy. 4 very tough away games coming up and we will lose a game or two. Certainly not predicting 6 wins from 7! 6 from 7 I can certainly dream
Micky Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Would be happy with: Burnley v Southampton - win Cardiff v Southampton - draw Southampton v Watford - win Derby v Southampton - loss Southampton v West Ham - draw Reading v Southampton - draw Southampton v Middlesbrough - draw Followed up by 2 wins over Peterborough and Cov. Obviously would like to win them all, but the bubble will burst, form will dip and injuries could play a part. So long as we maintain good momentum, things can only look good. The acid test will come when we loose 2 or 3 games in a row - how will we react, what's our bouncebackability like?
SuperMikey Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Burnley v Southampton - WIN Cardiff v Southampton - DRAW Southampton v Watford - WIN Derby v Southampton - DRAW Southampton v West Ham - LOSE Reading v Southampton - DRAW Southampton v Middlesbrough - LOSE
hypochondriac Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 These will go a long way to determine how our season pans out. I think we have been somewhat fortunate in our last two games that both teams were unable to take their chances. I'm not sure the likes of West Ham and Middlesborough will give us that luxury. Will be an interesting test of our abilities and if we can stay around the top fter these seven then I will be really looking for playoffs at a minimum and hoping for more.

hypochondriac Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 How many points do you think we'll get? Difficult to say but I can certainly see us having a bad result/performance or two. Forest was a very mixed performance (such a shame we were forced to have Cork at RB) and a better team would have finished us off. Luckily our attacking play is so classy that it didn't matter. Burnley v Southampton - DRAW Cardiff v Southampton - LOSS Southampton v Watford - WIN Derby v Southampton - WIN Southampton v West Ham - LOSE Reading v Southampton - WIN Southampton v Middlesbrough - Draw I think which means a dip in form and at least one of those games we will underperform and the likes of west ham will nick a win.

They were also fortunate that the lino got an ofside wrong. In summary we were very fortuante.

Fair enough I wasn't at the game, but I thought that if Forest had been more clinical that they would have scored a load more. There's no doubt in my mind that the next seven will be a sterner test than the seven just gone. Some really difficult teams and tricky away games to negotiate. We will do fantastically well to only lose one or two.

hypochondriac Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 See how real fans look for the positive, then there's you! So you dispute that we have just lost one game in seven and that isn't fantastic? Seriously stop following me around the messageboard. If we only lose one or two of the next seven games, considering how difficult some of them look on paper, that for me will continue to be a fantastic start. In your world that is negative.
Saint Lindford Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 No reason why we cannot get 12 points from the next few games. Burnley v Southampton - Win Cardiff v Southampton - Lose Southampton v Watford - Win Derby v Southampton - Draw Southampton v West Ham - Draw Reading v Southampton - Win Southampton v Middlesbrough - Win

Professor Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Even if we don't do as well as we have in the first 7 games, there is every likelihood that we will averaging 2 points a game - so 14 from the next 7. Can't rule out the possibility that another team could do better, but all things being equal, this should mean still being top at the end of October.

Not unreasonable, esp with the greater number of away games and some tough home games. On its own, its near-playoff form. What with our start, would leave us in or very close to the auto positions.

saints_is_the_south Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Burnley - win Cardiff - draw Watford - win Derby - draw West Ham - win Reading - win Middlesbrough - draw
saintpat Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 I think the first two are quite winnable. Concerned about Watford, I know we have laid many historical issues to rest recently but we haven't had a good record playing Watford in recent years and they will only be looking for a draw. Derby could well be our 2nd loss of the season. West Ham will come to win and that will help us, winnable in a high scoring game. Last two could both end in draws. That's 12 points, although Watford should really be a win, which would gave a very healthy 14 point return.
hutch Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Our excellent start has put us in a very strong position. Anything over 10 points from these 7 games will put us on an average of more that 2 points/game over the first 14 games, with a bunch of winnable games leading up to January. Keep the faith. There's a reason why the bookies have us clear favourites to finish second, and odds-on for a top 6 finish. And Rickie Lambert clear favourite to finish top scorer in the league.
Junior Mullet Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 We should not fear anyone. We have played some good teams already and so far nobody has the same level of quality team play as us. Leicester have good individuals but that does not result in consistency. We are as good as anyone in this league and will be looking to win every game, one way or another. Personally I think the tough games give us the perfect opportunity to play pacy, technical counter-attacking football. The second, third and fourth goals yesterday were perfect examples of what I mean.
Big Ron fan Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 6 wins followed by a 4-4 draw with Boro. We are going to walk this league.
No 2 to Maybush Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 6 wins followed by a 4-4 draw with Boro. We are going to walk this league. Love it!

However if you want to look forward then after those 7 games we have 10 fixtures in November & December as follows :- 6 Home games (where we can beat anyone) & 4 Away games against Coventry, Bristol C, Doncaster & Cheats A case could be made for us to win all 10 games of those games if we are in the same form, playing the same "pass & move" football.

Lets beat Preston first
Danbert Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 The way we play I can't see us drawing many games. I reckon we should win four or five of those.
SNSUN Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 WDWLDDD 10 POINTS imo, but while I'm trying not to wear rose tinted specs, we could have a few more points than that on current form...
Dalek2003 Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 My predictions Burnley v Southampton, Draw Cardiff v Southampton, Lose Southampton v Watford, win Derby v Southampton Lose Southampton v West Ham Draw Reading v Southampton Lose Southampton v Middlesbrough Draw Will be happy with those results as our good start will help us through the tough times ahead.
Dr Who? Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Burnley v Southampton, - WIN Cardiff v Southampton,- WIN Southampton v Watford,- WIN Derby v Southampton - DRAW Southampton v West Ham - DRAW Reading v Southampton - DRAW Southampton v Middlesbrough - WIN IF this does happen then I really will start to think we are going up. I expect we will lose one of these, but could not pick one, but thats football. It it was away to West Ham I would have picked a WIN in that one to, but they seem better away from Upton Park. If I was to pick a defeat it would be Reading, just because one of my friends is a Reading fan!!

Dr Who? Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Personally I think that is an unrealistic point haul. But you could look at things so far, and if I said at the start of the season we would win 6 and lose 1 you would probably said the same thing, and the above is not as good as the start we have had. If some of the games were round the other way. Boro away, Watford away, I would be more worried about these, but Brighton have been to Cardiff and won, and they are a little hit and miss. Burnley are terrible and will be lucky to stay up. Watford are terrible. We can get draws in the other games I have no doubt, and Boro are not playing football anywhere as good as we are at the moment. I do agree though, we will probably lose to Watford at home out of them, because that is football for you. I tell you what I try and keep my feet on the floor, but at the moment I really do not see any of the teams in the Championship being a huge threat to us.

Dalek2003 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 My predictions are spot on so far. So are mine, will be interesting to see what happens next.
NickG Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 So are mine, will be interesting to see what happens next. what was your prediction about now? 16th or something?
Dalek2003 Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 what was your prediction about now? 16th or something? Stop being lazy....I have said it often enough and stand by it. BTW the thread is about the next seven games not where we will finish at the end of the season. Now do keep up, there's a good chap !
red&white56 Posted 1 October, 2011 Posted 1 October, 2011 Right again ! Well done, but did you put a bet on your predictions?
