Colinjb Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Who is it then? I am awaiting a verdict for my match report. The options: Davis Richardson Fox Hooiveld Fonte Lallana Guly Hammond Cork Lambert Connolly Chaplow De Ridder Schneiderlin If a mod could make this a poll I would be very grateful. Many thanks.
The9 Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 From my viewpoint sat next to a swimming pool in Andalucia, having not seen or heard a second of it, I'm going for Richardson, as it gives me the chance to point out I said he was ace pre-season.
Saint dyer Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 everyone was very good today. but has to be lallana. took the p1ss at times. different class
Jack Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Connolly, just ahead of Lallana. Not on the scoresheet but was heavily involved in nearly everything we did well today. Praying he stays fit and in this sort of form. Very clever player.
S-Clarke Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 So many choices today, it was a great team performance in all honestly - but I chose Cork because I believe he gives us that platform to play as we do. It was a close run thing with Lallana who was great again, and he seems to have a thing about scoring against Birmingham doesn't he? 3rd goal in the last 3 games against them IIRC.
colehillsaint Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 David Connolly made so much space and held possession so well today. Cork was very good as well.
NickG Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 probably hardest choice so far, all starting 11 were very good - chaplow and morgan also did well when came on.
The9 Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Oh yeah, and having a right back meant we didn't waste Cork there... I jest, I didn't see or hear any of it, I have no right to vote and won't be.
Colinjb Posted 18 September, 2011 Author Posted 18 September, 2011 I voted for Kelvin. He was outstanding in goal today.... but so was Connolly, and Cork, and Lallana...... and Richardson! He really took it to the bluenoses today. I love it being so difficult to do these, every player is really giving it a go
saint_jas Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Sounded like Kelv on radio esp the save that kept it 0-0.
Saint Fen Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Lallana or Connolly, both were superb and some great touches
Hurricane163 Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 I am supprised that there are no votes for Lambert yet. I was very impressed with his hold up play. When not rugby tackled he held the ball up well and distributed the the ball to great effect. Seriously it is very hard to pick a clear winner. It was a great team performance.
SparkySaint Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Lallana or Connolly, both were superb and some great touches They linked up very well today
eelpie Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Since everyone performed equally brilliantly, I am going for the guvnor, one year in charge and he has made the team what it is today. Why not include Adkins in the polls in future? Could be interesting.

St Chalet Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 A good shout to be fair...... I wonder if it would take off? Max amount of options in a poll is 14, so not possible right now. If he only uses 2 subs and we have a poll I will add him.

Benali Saint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Cork for me. Another very good solid game
sandwichsaint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Davis 9 FR 9 (best game in a Saints shirt) JF 8 Hoov 8 Fox 7 Gully 8 Hammond 8.5 Cork 8.5 Lallana 9 Connolly 9 RL 9 Take your pick really, I've gone for Connolly but when you've got this level of consistency you are going to win a lot of games of football!
stevegrant Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Lallana seems to be just in front, but I didn't think he did an awful lot yesterday, especially in the first half where everything went through Guly and Richardson. Rather than that be a criticism of him, I think it's a compliment to how key he's been that Birmingham saw nullifying him as their most important tactic, and it also shows that we can still play in the way we want without him being the focal point. Of course, we won't be fortunate enough to come up against a left-back as crap as Liam Ridgwell every week, but you can only beat what's in front of you.
LostBoys Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Connolly was superb and only just below his performance at Plymouth away when I gave him 10. He was given a poor pass yesterday in front of the Kingsland that was overhit and behind him and he was being closely marked albeit by Carr - he checked back in a split second got his body behind the ball to avoid the tackle and pushed the ball back inside to Hammond leaving Carr for dead and a gap as big as the Solent. I have not seen as good as that since Kanchelskis was with us for a short while.
Blandford saint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Went for Kelvin, but it could so easily have been any one of half a dozen. Yet another great performance. When we started getting a bit cocky and casual, Kelv's concentration didn't drop - cool & calm at the back.
Nutwood2 Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Kelvin was magnificent. Fonte and Hoov were very impressive. Corky was excellent. However, Adam was spine tingling. The whole team were superb. Adam just gets it for me.
Ashley Grute Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Richardson- set up 2 goals, solid throughout and cleared 1 off the line-an unsung hero!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 I think Hammond and Cork together were and always are excellent.
CanadaSaint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 It's extremely disappointing for those of us not at the game that we are not permitted to vote for Ohio Saint as MoM. His ciggy breaks directly lead to two goals and one blinding Kelvin save and yet his name doesn't even appear in the poll. Poor show.
Ohio Saint Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 It's extremely disappointing for those of us not at the game that we are not permitted to vote for Ohio Saint as MoM. His ciggy breaks directly lead to two goals and one blinding Kelvin save and yet his name doesn't even appear in the poll. Poor show. I'm hoping to get on the Saints payroll though! Actually, I'm kinda relieved that I can't vote as I couldn't see the game. It must have been a really tough choice!! That poll looks nothing like they used to with all those votes spread far and wide. Long may it continue like that!
astrasri Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 I think Hammond and Cork together were and always are excellent. Post 27 before Hammond was mentioned - I thought that for a period (after I noticed it!) in the second half that everything in midfield went through him. A very understated superb performance from him
