Gorgiesaint Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 As its says, looks like he's been sacked, but maybe just asked to leave to avoid any further payout... http://www.pafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10364~2454878,00.html Seems they might have a better chance of improving performances by getting the takeover done and ensuring the players are sold. Let's hope Clotterill doesn't fancy a fresh challenge...
farawaysaint Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 The poor buggers are so very very screwed, they're like a how to guide of non-league at the moment. Had something like 4000 for their last home match and I don't imagine crowds improving the way things are going. Reid had the respect of the fan base as well for sticking around so considering he was sacked this won't be a popular decision.
Mattio Posted 18 September, 2011 Posted 18 September, 2011 Used to work there and spoke to the men at the top quite a lot, they were very optimistic all the way up to the season before last, from there you could see the cracks appearing and I knew something was up, then the players spirit seemed to drop and its all been downhill from there, basically they have very poor support in the best of times and now they're screwed everyone jumping ship which means no money. I reckon they'll be in the conference next season and won't be back for a while (probably will sell the ground to developers which is sad as the plans for the WC looked amazing and the ground is in the middle of Plymouths version of the Common too)
stkev7 Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 There are too many sh*thouse tiny clubs in the Football League that have won their place through financial backing. Sadly non-league football these days has no end of decent 'league standard' sides, Plymouth are likely to be the next decent football club to go that way.
SuperMikey Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Get Reidy on board, he'd be a quality defensive coach.
dingbattigger Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 While the Riddler is there they are totally screwed
Dr Who? Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 What did they expect him to do? No money, uncertain future, of course they are blinking bottom. Who is going to do any better?
Jonnyboy Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Mad they were pushing for a playoff place for the prem when holloway deserted.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 This just in from an Argylle mate: Hi Andy It's another sad blow for every Argyle fan, we have become one big joke. Peter Reid carried on when everything was against him, he had to sell or release anyone who was half decent, has players who haven't been paid in full for well over six months, has a team of youngsters who aren't up to it and he never complained or made excuses. Last season he paid the heating bill & has been helping out the players himself & he even auctioned off his F.A. Cup runners up medal to raise cash last season. Just a couple of weeks ago the players threatened strike action as they weren't going to be paid at all. He's been dignified to the end but we are still in administration and are going down, i'm sad to say. Thanks for your concerns Steve P.S. Nice to see The Saints are flying. Sounds like Reid was more than honourable with the Club.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 20 September, 2011 Posted 20 September, 2011 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/sep/18/tiki-taka-peter-reid-sacked Reid pays club staff out of his own pocket and is sacked after losing up to 40 players. How is Risdale allowed anywhere near any football club????
