1976_Child Posted 18 September, 2011 Share Posted 18 September, 2011 Do girls have prostates? And more to the point what is a prostate? Is it like an appendix or does it actually do anything useful? Was scratching my ring and started thinking about them. I know it is up there somewhere and that sometime it gets cancerous but I have no idea what it is let alone if girls have them. Also, what the fek is 'spleen'. Heard it mentioned on Holby City and it sounded nasty. Is it infectious?
SuperMikey Posted 18 September, 2011 Share Posted 18 September, 2011 No, the prostate is a male-only thing. It's something to do with producing semen.
Saint in Paradise Posted 18 September, 2011 Share Posted 18 September, 2011 Ref "spleen" everyone who has one of these will die in due course. However if it has been removed by surgery you will also die in time.
Ohio Saint Posted 18 September, 2011 Share Posted 18 September, 2011 My doctor showed me his finger and said "Look, I have small fingers" This was AFTER I yelped like a raped puppy.

bridge too far Posted 18 September, 2011 Share Posted 18 September, 2011 The spleen is necessary to fight off infection. When people have a splenectomy, they can't fight off infection so well. Some diseases, such as leukaemia, cause the spleen to enlarge. This is because people with leukaemia have an increased white cell count.
