Brighton Lost to Leicester....But still proves a better team than Saints

Just Listening to the Leicester v Brighton game and the fans follow up, etc.

One comment is that they lost to only one goal so it proves they are a better team than us as we let in 3 goals.

BUT, we did score two past them.

Can't personally see the correleation, but which theory do you think has legs?

Taking this a bit further, which is the decideder if not the above?

Who finishes higher?

Who beats who in a head-to-head?

Are Leicester the bench mark team? Or should it be Middlesborough?

Am I bored with no football today?Should I just carry on replacing the floorboards in my toilet and shut the fark up?

Red or Black, You decide.

TBH, would have preferred a draw.

Listened to the Leicester commentary -and brighton didn't have nearly the same amount of possession or pressure we had but that, in part, is because they are more a cautious and cynical team.

DOn't think Leicester were anything special either- Ankergren had very few saves to make and they'll blow hot and cold like all of Sven's flatter-to-deceive teams.

Really, why do people care about what Brighton fans think about us? Every time a fans post something on an internet forum or a radio phone in show, people seem to get upset about it. Last season we were rivals, now not really the case. Let's just leave it be, threads like this just make us look sad and obsessed.

FWIW I think we will both be fairly evenly match over the season. Like it or not, they've got a decent manager, decent stadium and decent crowds.

I am starting to hate the very sight of Brighton. Their fans are arrogant and think they are better than most clubs in England and their manager Gus Poyet is an absolute twwat and is never gracious in defeat. Last season thought we were a long ball side who didn't deserve to go up because we had a easy run in (a lot of matches at the end of the season that advantaged us over Hudders and PeterB).

This Hasn't really got anything to do with Brighton, but asks the question if there is a yard stick to measure teams, and if so, what is it.

At least you answered, gave you opinion, job done.

League position is decided by points then goal difference then goals scored.

So losing 3-2 is more advantageous than losing 1-0.

I was at the home match against Brighton last season and was very frustrated by their (almost) cheating tactics. I was extremely overjoyed when we beat them at theirs, giving us the edge over them in head to heads.

We will better them again this season, both in the head to heads and final league position.

How two teams do against a third is no guide, but its still worth remembering that Leicester were only credited with 3 goals against Saints because one goal was awarded despite the foul on Lambert that resulted in the ball hitting him and bouncing into the net. And that Saints were only kept to 2 goals because Leicester were very lucky. At least 2 shots hit their GK and bounced off without him knowing about it and another hit the post. It was a game that could just as easily have been won by Saints and it was luck that decided it, especially over the goal that should have been disallowed.

All my family and a lot of my friends support Brighton. Theyre in a place theyve never been before - they have money and a nice ground. They seriously need knocking down to size though. I went to their new stad the other week when they beat posh at home and they think theyre f*cking Brazil. Looking forward to going above them today and sending a few texts.

As for yesterdays game, it seemed pretty similar to ours. Leicester game out and bossed the 1st half, and then they really should have got something out of it in the 2nd.

On our day we are a much fluent team than Brighton. We seem to have more attacking flair than them but I think theyre a more solid passing team and probably have more consistency over 90 mins that we do. Whats more, we would be lost without AL and they dont seem to rely on one player as much. If we played them and both teams played the best they could, I reckon we'd win.

Dunno what all the fuss is about really. I remember them getting thumped in a cup final replay with ManU in the 80's and that's about it... they mean absolutely nothing to me. I don't care who their manager is, what their new stadium is called. how many fans they get each week. Nothing. I couldn't give a rats ar*e where they finish this season either, top, middle or bottom. Only one team I care about and those boys play in the red 'n' white stripes! Up the Saints.

By my reckoning using this method of assessing how good a team is...

We're as good as Chelsea, and we're better than Arsenal, because we only lost 2-1 to Man U in the Cup last year. Probably better than Man city as well after the Community Shield.

Daft isn't it. I thought this type of thing only existing in Junior School.

There is. The table at the end of the season. Any one match before then is irrelevant in isolation.

This. They won't hack it for long and will soon be drifting down to mid-table. Middlesborough and Leicester look favourites at the moment and Forest aren't that far away either.

Nottingham Forest are in the bottom three, so not far away from what? Relegation? New Manager?

This thread prompted me to go take a look at their forum. There is one guy on there STILL insisting that NA is useless, and just sitting back taking all the credit for the team that Pardew put together.!!!

Ignore him, complete WUM who no-one takes seriously. I'm not quite sure what he's going on about with regards to Adkins, tbh. He has done fantastic job, anyone with half a brain can see that.
