spyinthesky Posted 16 September, 2011 Share Posted 16 September, 2011 Can any old timers remember CPC who were a local 'feeder' club before the Youth teams started Seem to recollect they were about in the 50's and 60's and were possibly a Transport related team based in Rownhams

um pahars Posted 17 September, 2011 Share Posted 17 September, 2011 If I'm allowed to give some more of the game away (sorry Duncan if you're on a hard sell for David Bull LOL), but the link with Rownhams was that the pitch that the CPC team played on was in the grounds of Rownhams House and that John Barber, the Saints Director/Chairman owned Rownhams House and the land surrounding it. My first house was in the new estate they built in the grounds of Rownhams House (a villa??? in Balmoral Way, just up past the Horns Inn) and can remember playing in its grounds in the 70's when there was still some reminders of the old ground. spyinthesky Posted 17 September, 2011 Author Share Posted 17 September, 2011 I think Saints still used the pitch in Rownhams House up until the mid 60's Interesting to see that CPC sponsored the Saints Youth team kit when they reached the Final of the FA Youth Cup in the early 60's
Give it to Ron Posted 17 September, 2011 Share Posted 17 September, 2011 My dad played for them and played with John Sydenham in that side. I can remember he had this really big picture of Ted presenting him with a cup.
