Huffton Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Got my Cardiff tickets today. Inside there is a letter from Cardiff saying they have a limited number of FREE parking spaces available at the ground for families. These will be available through your own ticket office. So I phone up the TO, after much umming and ahhing the girl finally finds the parking vouchers, which are FREE, then tries to sting me for a £3 booking fee!

I can understand how that could greatly cripple your financial condition. Best to avoid paying that at all costs mate.
Colinjb Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 That is ever so slightly tight..... ....Did they relent?

Redondo Saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 If the 3 pound is to recoup the cost of sending you the voucher I don't see a problem. If they want to charge and you are collecting it from the TO then that is a bit harsh.
manji Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Man desperate attempt to find something to moan about pleased at finding something to moan about.
swannymere Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Man desperate attempt to find something to moan about pleased at finding something to moan about. Too True.

So you want the club, who make zero from away ticket sales, to send you something at their own cost rather than you go down there and pick them up?
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Did he mention that it was £3?!?! How will he feed himself this week?
Fan The Flames Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Annoyingly I can understand both sides.
bristolsaint29 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Well drive more economically on the way up and you can get your £3 back in fuel consumption
Benali Saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Pick it up at either the Brum or PNE game
aintforever Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 The team are playing well so you're not allowed to moan. You should pay your £3 tax and skip down the road clapping your hands thanking god you still have a football team to watch.

If you want something for free, at least be prepared to get off your arse and actually go and get it.

Nowhere does he state that he is not willing to collect the vouchers ! Why then are you slagging him off ??
saintmatt Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Man desperate attempt to find something to moan about pleased at finding something to moan about. This. Good to see so many people shoot him down as well
beatlesaint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Annoyingly I can understand both sides. yeah so can I to be honest. £3 to park at the ground ? Bargain. £3 for something thats supposed to be free ? umm, yeah.
Ziggy Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 I would be more worried about the queue to get out of the car park if I was you. I am a ST holder at the Cardiff rugby and park at the stadium. I deliberately have an aisle seat so I can leg it out and get away before the rush at the end and would suggest you might consider making your way towards the entrance in the final seconds. It gets very congested and the rugby crowds are much smaller than the football ones.
CanadaSaint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Easy for me to say from such a distance but I think things like this will pale into insignificance (if they weren't there already) when we reach the Premiership. Cortese has always said that we would be anchored to financial reality (sustainability), and that likelihood only increased with Markus's passing. If some people are p*ssed off now about ticket taxes and parking charges and booking fees and increasing season ticket prices they'll go nuts when they see what's down the road. I said some time back that some great fans won't be able to afford to actively support the Club if we get where we're aiming to go.
doughnutman Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Just as a side note are the tickets for Cardiff on general sale? Im a bit lost the OS!
Huffton Posted 14 September, 2011 Author Posted 14 September, 2011 And where exactly have I stated I want something for free? I would be more than happy to pay the postage costs, but what ****es me off is having to pay this again after already paying it when buying the tickets. On which planet does a stamp and envelope cost £3?
St_Tel49 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 The team are playing well so you're not allowed to moan. Big Bad Bob Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 f' me, can't believe the cost of posting a letter these days. talk about inflation..... That's alright, Ticketmaster charge you (near) £6 handling fee per *TICKET* (not transaction) and then another (near) £7 to post the tickets to you.....
Cascadia Saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Wow. That is a new low. Not the old low. Worse than the old low? Who knows anymore?
Asaint4ever Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 This forum is full of 1st class idiots!
Quickfire Double Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 This forum is full of 1st class idiots! I think we need to stamp out this sort of abuse!

Quickfire Double Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Nah, much more fun going postal on people I suppose it is, if you're a red-blooded mail...!
JRM Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Surely the point here is once again the clubs communication has not been up to scratch, if they had informed those buying family tickets in ticket news that limited free parking was available then the gentleman could have requested that at the same time as buying his tickets. I wonder if those of you slagging him off actually go that much and pay these fees themselves? Because leaving your customer feeling like they have been ripped off is not good customer service. I've stopped buying other things at the club like programmes, food etc as I'm fed up with the way they try and milk every penny from loyal fans, parking reduced to 15 mins to catch more people out, I can understand why people get ****ed off with it.
InvictaSaint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 High is the new low; I read it in Vogue.
Chez Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 So you want the club, who make zero from away ticket sales, not true, the club makes 5% of all away tickets sold (excluding VAT) as laid out by Football league rules. About £40,000 last year. So they make more than enough income from away fans already. But how do they encourage away support - they charge for parking if you get the coach, charge a tax to buy tickets and now attempt to charge for free parking vouchers. If true its disgusting.

Whitey Grandad Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 That's like, an infinity percent mark-up?
CFSFC Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Just collect the tickets and stop moaning. Fair play to Cardiff for putting this on and so what if we choose to charge £3 that's now how we do things.
The Mac Attack Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 not true, the club makes 5% of all away tickets sold (excluding VAT) as laid out by Football league rules. About £40,000 last year. Good point well made. The fact that its only £3 quid is irrelevant, its the principle of charging for a free parking ticket to accompany a ticket that the club will have taken money from in the first place. There's a lot of people in this list who apparently like to give their hard earned money away for free, even if it is £3 it all adds up and its yours so why give it away!
stockportsaint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 That's alright, Ticketmaster charge you (near) £6 handling fee per *TICKET* (not transaction) and then another (near) £7 to post the tickets to you..... ticketmaster = bunch of ****s

SuperMikey Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Club in recouping administration fees shocker.
dubai_phil Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Never mind, we'll soon be like Chelsea. 40 quid for the cheapest tickets for the CL this year. Fans up in arms. Good old Platini's fault for making clubs become financially viable. (Oh and have Saints replaced their Sales Manager yet? These sorts of snafu's about communication indicate probably not)
Daren W Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 So let me get this straight, the club are charging for something given away free? And people don't think this is wrong? Forget the prices, that just muddies the waters, does anyone think the club should charge money for something that is free? If, say, the tickets themselves were free and you were charged money for them would you be unhappy? If the answer is yes, then the original poster has a point...

egg Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 So let me get this straight, the club are charging for something given away free? And people don't think this is wrong? You forget about the admin cost, heat and light etc. Bits of paper do not push themselves around. Staff and bills have to be paid and any sensible business passes the cost to the customer.

No, the free parking ticket remains free. If you want to go and pick it up from the stadium, it is free. If you want it sent to you- which the club has to pay for- you need to pay the charge. At no point are the club selling something that's free, the money is for postage.
emerson massey Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Exactly, i really dont see much of a problem - if you want it posted it to you for free then the club loses out surely.
adrian lord Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 It is sharp practice by the club, and wrong, it must be a bloody heavy big voucher to cost £3 postage. The absolute cost, however small, is irrelevant. I sympathise with the OP on this one.
niceandfriendly Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 There really is no point in supporting a football club if there's nothing to moan about.

The absolute cost, however small, is irrelevant. I sympathise with the OP on this one. Yep, so the club don't have to send an email or similar to Cardiff to ask for one, that happens automatically, no need to pay someone to do that or to pay for the overheads of the Internet connectivity etc. Or maybe they can print it straight from the internet site, which will take no time, won't cost anything in consumables for printers etc. Oh and has anyone checked to see whether Cardiff will mail them free of charge? Do they send them first class or via courier? How many passes are they sending down? Then of course, no time at all to find an envelope to put it in. Look I don't CONDONE or defend the Ticket Tax OR the Parking Fees, and I think the Comms by the club are appalling (sorry Jordan Sibley, but Marketing and Communications is a hell of a lot more than being about Twitter & an OS and it is fecked up at the moment) BUT to post inane "I don't understand how things work" doesn't help either side in the argument.
