Saint_clark Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Let's tear them...to pieces? Richardson back in if fit I would hope, with Cork back in midfield and Morgan dropping out. Everyone else staying the same. I don't actually rate Birmingham that highly, so going for a 2-0 win with Saints not needing to get out of second gear and Birmingham chasing shadows due to a busy week for them.
Hatch Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Lock up your daughters. Marlon King plays for them.
paris Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 All being well should be my first match this year so be nice to me please .....
a1ex2001 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Going to be a tough game I'm sure but I'd like to think we can turn them over at home going for a 1-0 win. Hopefully Richardson will be back and the defence with an extra weeks training together and a game in the dutch lads legs will be more together.
Saint_John Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 The Ref is due to be Dean Whitestone from Northampton. Last Season H v Bristol Rovers W 1-0 a v walsall L 0-1 2009/10 H v Wycombe W 1-0 2006/7 a v colchester L 0-2
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Hoping for a close victory, but in reality I can see our first home defeat with this game, we are a bit leaky at the back and Brum could be one of our toughest games yet. Hopefully Cork will return to midfield and Richardson will slot back in. COYR !
Mowgli Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Each home win brings additional pressure to keep the record going. Who would you want to lose that record to? A biggish ex EPL team like Birmingham or a Doncaster type side. Personally I think we can keep going for now. The confidence is there, as is the fitness, as is the skill. Just not quite sure who it is that will shine from week to week. Last week it was Guly and Lambert. Other days it could be any from Lallana, Davis, Scheiderlin, Cork, Hammond, Fonte, Connolly. We really do have a good team. Assuming the back four are over their injuries, I will go for 3-1.
shirleysfc Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 I think this will be a close one, the sort of match I don't want to get my hopes up over. Having said that we have shown this season we have the ability to create and score at will, an early goal in this game could be crucial. Another 3-2 please. COYR!
doddisalegend Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Brum have started slow (no surprise) but they just hammered Millwall so I don't think they'll be a push over. Mind you at home I fancy us to win. I'd like to see Martin in for Hayfield and Richardson/Butterfield at rightback rather than cork other than that same team as last week (and hope fox has been working on his denfesive duties in trainning). Until Our back four is sorted and settled we are going to leak a few at the back luckily we have the ability to score plenty so I wouldn't be surprised at another 3-2

I agree we need to change RB though, mainly because we need Cork back in midfield alongside Hammond.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Whooooooo!? Hooiveld translates into English as Hayfield.
warsash saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 See the run ending on Sunday ... 2-2
EBS1980 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Birmingham have got off to a slow start away from home so lets hope they go away pointless again on sunday.
sussexsaint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 We are class and have strength in depth. They will not want to come here and we should win. Hopefully we will have Cork back in the middle of the park and that will sure things up even more.
West End Saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Lets hope Cork starts in midfield & Richardson & Harding are back in the team am I right in thinking Brum play in Europe Thursday I hope so we have an extra day to get everyone back fit I hope they have a tough game & we are fresh with everybody back fit. No doubt it will be a tough game but we have the players to cause any team problems we look good going forward we have great confidence & belief even when we go behind I back the boys to keep the run going 3 1 to the Mighty Saints
Hatch Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Our Sunday 3 oclock kick off record is very poor, can't remember a single win.
100%Red&White Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Fingers crossed they'll be a bit jaded after all the excitement of European football. Their fans certainly haven't shown much enthusiasm for the trip, their initial 1000 tickets are still on general sale - that may change if they get a good result tomorrow night. But I'm still feeling confident every game we go into.
Hurricane163 Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 All being well should be my first match this year so be nice to me please ..... Me too. As I work evenings and Saturdays this badly affects me visiting St Marys. I have been so impresed with saints so far this season I hope they do not let me down!!
Appy Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Our Sunday 3 oclock kick off record is very poor, can't remember a single win. Can you remember a single fixture?
toofarnorth Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Why is it Sunday? is it televised? Brum play Thursday
paris Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 So i used to like going in the Itchen North back in the day , is it possible to capture that atmosphere today if so can you advise ...
ericofarabia Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 28 posts in and nobody has asked .... How many tickets we sold then? ...yet. Doh
ericofarabia Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 So i used to like going in the Itchen North back in the day , is it possible to capture that atmosphere today if so can you advise ... Tsk JCL .... SMS didn't exist back in the day!!
Saint 76er Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Brum have the one thing that may worry us at the present time ... two quick and skillful wingers in Burke and Beausejour. Sounds like they carved up Millwall last week and supplied crosses for Wood to nab a hat trick. We really need to tighten up at full back on both flanks and get those guys defending deep and close tracking their winger. The above pair could do some damage otherwise.

Opening day of the season, I thought Richardson (against Gradel) and Harding (against Snodgrass) were absolutely superb, and barely gave them anything. Hopefully Richardon will be back, jury is still out on how good defensively Fox is.
Saint 76er Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 I thought we had some of them as well? Well we do, but it was our defending I was alluding to, not our attack. We may well score more goals than they do, as we did against Forest, but I don't think a tightening up of our flank defending would go astray against dangerous opponents. Let's make things a little easier on ourselves ...
polegategavin Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Our Sunday 3 oclock kick off record is very poor, can't remember a single win. When was the last time we won 12 home games in a row?.................... Records get changed, I don't think the match day and time will have any impact. I also believe that Brum having played in Europe, the travelling etc will mean they are not quite at our pace an we win by the odd goal.

Fair enough but with the decimation of our back four through injuries.....I think we might be best just adopting a style similair to the Posh last season and just go all out attack to score more than the opposition. Until we get some fit defenders
alehouseboys Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 I believe the Brum v Braga match is on ITV4 tomorrow night if anyone is interested in weighing up Sunday's opposition.
whelk Posted 14 September, 2011 Posted 14 September, 2011 Got a bad feeling about this one. Had that about Brighton 2 seasons ago so i am never wrong.

Until we get some fit defenders Given Richardson was almost OK last week, I don't think he will miss this week as well, and Harding's knock was only minor, in any case almost everyone thought Fox was better *****il they saw him play), so defence is hardly decimated. In fact we could be back to our regular defence, except DS on Sunday.
Jack Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 0-0 Sorry folks. Not a chance!! I don't think we'll see a goalless game at SMS all season. Saints 4-3 Brum
Saint Garrett Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Guly Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Connolly

I wouldn't put to much store in Nigels assement of our players fitness I think he likes to be misleading to confuse other teams when Adam was injuried last season he kept saying he was near recovery. Jahidi has been a week away from fitness since pre-season. Someone said they saw Harding last week at SMS hobbling really badly
JRM Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 the game is definitely on itv4 so will have a good watch of that tonight, hopefully some of their key players pick up knocks http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14832918.stm and we can benefit from their tiredness on sunday i'm going with 2-1 home win Braga are 8-5 to win which is tempting odds considering they were finalists last year.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Are they even going to put out their best side ? They've already said that the Waffa cup is a hindrance.
JRM Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Are they even going to put out their best side ? They've already said that the Waffa cup is a hindrance. I don't think they have enough fit players to really leave many out. Zigic is out and Marlon King just come back from injury, their game tonight has to be a good thing for us, especially against such strong opposition.
'00' Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 All the teams Saints have beaten are in the bottom half...............at the moment
SNSUN Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 Tough game this... for Brum. We'll be fresh as daisies. 3-1, our favourite scoreline.
DJ_TOAST Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 anybody got links to the main brum forums ? like to see their predictions before games etc. The ones Ive looked at don't seem to be very up to date.
doddisalegend Posted 15 September, 2011 Posted 15 September, 2011 anybody got links to the main brum forums ? like to see their predictions before games etc. The ones Ive looked at don't seem to be very up to date. They seem to have a few forums but no mention of us that I've found. Either they're not very bothered by us (quite likely) or they are more interested in the match they have to play before us (even more likely)
