whelk Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I'm relatively new to the forum, not new to Saints. Seems like a bit of history between some posters and much point scoring off each other. Lots of very intelligent knowledgeable posters although many arrogant aggressive disrespectful types as well. I'd probably put myself more towards the latter mind. With so many 'you clearly know nothing about football........' responses as would expect on a forum but football being what it is no one gets it right everytime and even top managers make clangers. Anyone remember Mourinho - "why would we ned to sign Wayne Rooney wwhen we have declining to make a move for around £25mill when he left Everton. Was wondering if anyone want to remind us of their own posts that in hindsight have turned out stupid.
whelk Posted 12 September, 2011 Author Posted 12 September, 2011 Ahh Kezman - 7 goals for Chelsea in total
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Holmes looks a good player, going past people and getting decent crosses in. More of the same please saintsQUOTE]

You freely admit you feel you're an "arrogant, aggressive, disrespectful" type? lol I said at the start of the season Andy Carroll would be top scorer in the Premiership.
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I said kenwyne could be as good as drogba if he put his mind to it... Not 100% sure whether I was wrong or he just can't be arsed
scotty Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 You freely admit you feel you're an "arrogant, aggressive, disrespectful" type? lol I said at the start of the season Andy Carroll would be top scorer in the Premiership. While we're in confession mode, I remember telling a mate "no, we've been in the top flight 27 years. We always scrape out of these relegation fights and this seasons no different...." ffs
DT Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I once said we should go after Roy Kinnear for the role as our new manager. Think I probably meant Joe Kinnear...
suspect everyone Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 When debate was raging on the forum over who should be our new manager (that ended up being Pardew): Me: "What about Boothroyd?" Tool.
Raging Bull Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 When debate was raging on the forum over who should be our new manager (that ended up being Pardew): Me: "What about Boothroyd?" Tool. What, when he's finished playing for QPR?!
The Kraken Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 You freely admit you feel you're an "arrogant, aggressive, disrespectful" type? lol I said at the start of the season Andy Carroll would be top scorer in the Premiership. I got into a drunken bet with my Liverpool-supporting mate just before the start of the season; I told him that Kevin Doyle would score more league goals than Caroll and bet him £50 To be fair, I'm winning 1-0 at the moment
Micky Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Dead easy, just read any of mine - they're all bloody dross...!!!
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 there was quite a heated discussion a while back in which someone opined that Torres wouldn't be a success in League 1. He was rediculed but now I'm not so sure
um pahars Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Not a forum post, but a continual moan that I thought Shearer missed too many one on ones and was overrated :blush: (My defence was in his earlier years he didn't score that regularly!!!!!!!!!).
Brussels Saint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 In our Champ relegation season, I saw a photo of Michael Svensson winning a towering header in a pre season warm-up (against Celtic I think) and wisely commented "don't worry we'll be alright". Just call me the Oracle. Btw bit disappointed this thread has only 14 replies. Come on TSW regulars you ALL have made yourself look an arse at some point. Fess up, its carthartic!
Thedelldays Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 there are ooodles of utterly daft posts over the years.. players dont play for adkins adkins out (after 1 defeat) we will finish 17th this season we are the best club outside of the top 4 we should expand the stadium now to 45k....as man got to the top of everest
davefoggy Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I once posted, "Burley Out, Chris Coleman In" !!!!
beatlesaint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Before Pardew was appointed I suggested Steve Cotterill as our next manager !
S-Clarke Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Before Pardew was appointed I suggested Steve Cotterill as our next manager ! Wash your mouth out!
Thedelldays Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 another cracker was when someone claimed martin o'neil was just waiting for the call to be our manager..and had a flat in winchester or something
beatlesaint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Wash your mouth out! yeah exactly, and after listening to him with full violin backing on Solent every other Saturday thank God I got that one very very wrong.
cellone Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Saying there is no need for violence between football fans. Luckily I was corrected by a tory and a hardman.
St Chalet Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I personally thought bring in Clive Woodward to develop our sport science was a good idea.
Daren W Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Watching Saints rip Birmingahm apart early season whilst under Portvielt and saying we could be an outside bet for promotion...
Saints67 Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I thought George Burley was the man for Saints. I actually punched the air when it was announced on SSN.
S-Clarke Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Watching Saints rip Birmingahm apart early season whilst under Portvielt and saying we could be an outside bet for promotion... I remember that game, I also saw the Derby game and said after that we'd be no where near relegation, so ''no worries'' Whops.
Thedelldays Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I remember that game, I also saw the Derby game and said after that we'd be no where near relegation, so ''no worries'' Whops.was that we looked brilliant against west ham in the pre season friendly..?
krissyboy31 Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Not a forum post, but a continual moan that I thought Shearer missed too many one on ones and was overrated :blush: (My defence was in his earlier years he didn't score that regularly!!!!!!!!!). Did you predict that Speedie and Dixon would score more than him?
krissyboy31 Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 The No 7 shirt is in good hands with Kanchelskis!
S-Clarke Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 was that we looked brilliant against west ham in the pre season friendly..? Yeah and that game. We made a good start and I think we all felt kind of refreshed that our ''Kids'' looked like the real deal. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly they needed a bit of help as we got into the nitty-gritty of the season, but it didn't come.
suewhistle Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I once posted, "Burley Out, Chris Coleman In" !!!! Half right then.
SNSUN Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 League One, first season - "As much as you ridicule him, I reckon Pulis will play at least 20 games this season. " I'm not going through my post history but it's in there. Think I said it just before the takeover.
Saint_lambden Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I remember saying Adkins was tactically inept after the Walsall 1-0 defeat
Smirking_Saint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I have a feeling Lambert won't cut it in the NPC And (WC 2010) This is Englands year, I feel it.
doddisalegend Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 APs first season we had a midfield crisis (injury, suspension etc) I made a post suggesting playing Mills at LB and moving Harding into Midfield (as a temperory solution). Got chewed out by the forum experts that no manager worth his salt would play a defender in mid field or vice-verse they had a point......
The Kraken Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 not really...able to laugh at myself.. A shame others aren't really. I'm all for putting my neck on the line and making a prediction; I'm also more than willing to have it rubbed in my face if I get it hopelessly wrong. I'm with Saints67 above, when Burley was appointed manager I was absolutely delighted. That worked out well....
farawaysaint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Didn't have to look too far back in my own.... Scared to delve deeper now "Fully expect Brum to win the league, as they have a Europa place they're unlikely to lose any apart form their best 2 or 3 players and that money coupled with the parachutes I expect to be invested immediately to achieve promotion to the prem. If they don't go up this season however they won't be nearly as intimidating next year."
Mowgli Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 To be honest I have far more confidence in the future of Saints since Lowe returned and I suspect that the banks have a similar view. I also have a lot more confidence in JP who I find inspirational... ." Oh sh*t.....
ibizasaint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I remember thinking RedKrapp was going to be great for us...... ****.
Colinjb Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Me confidently declaring that Neil McCann was the final 'piece in the puzzle.' Oh lord.
Raging Bull Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Oh sh*t..... And the rest is history mate
RonManager Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 That Mick Channon will never amount to anyhting, not in football or any other sport. Luckily there was no interweb back in 1966 so I think I got away with it.
suspect everyone Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 What, when he's finished playing for QPR?! Thats Jay Bothroyd, I was suggesting we appoint Aidy Boothroyd (ex Watford manager). My comment was dumb but not that dumb!
Jimmy_D Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 Not sure I ever posted it on here, but I remember being gutted when SISU fell through and they ended up going for Coventry instead... I also remember confidently predicting to a mate that the Dutch Experiment playing the kids would see us playing like Arsenal and being a joy to watch
Fan The Flames Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I thought Burley was a good coup, but I was also excited about the double dutch that almost happened at the same time. I thought Woodward was a good idea and I backed the Wilde chairmanship. I thought Scott MacDonald was going to be a big goal scorer for us and I also told my mate that Peter Taylor will be the next Man U manager (I still could be right on that one I guess).
CanadaSaint Posted 12 September, 2011 Posted 12 September, 2011 I don't even want to say what it was exactly, but it involved Wigley, younger players and success. I think I was wrong about four times in the one sentence.
