The Majestic Channon Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 At last, not seen anymore than the goals since the day, been hoping for highlights for ages. Although we lost i loved every ( almost) minute , was 11 and fully kitted out in yellow and blue. Also we see martin tyler 32 years ago, genoe's near disaster when the ball somehow slid under his body, interviews with lawrie and clough. Windmill Arm 2 Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Forest were freakin awesome during that 79/80 era, back to back European Cups etc. On the flip side Terry Gennoe was an absolutley shyte goalkeeper !!!

Kenilworthy Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 You could always watch the film 'Yesterday's Hero' where the match footage was used to show the FA Cup final between Windsor and Leicester Forest.

Golden Balls Posted 12 September, 2011 Share Posted 12 September, 2011 Brilliant to watch. Football seems a lot better to watch back then. Not in quality, but in entertainment.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 12 September, 2011 Share Posted 12 September, 2011 Is there any footage of what went on in the Car Park and down Wembley Way after the game?
saint1977 Posted 12 September, 2011 Share Posted 12 September, 2011 My old man put a few quid on David Peach for the first goal as he took our penalties and got offered a daft odd of something like 16/1. Back in 1979, that was a very handy winning.

I remember Lawrie talking about that, Freddie starr was at the players hotel and invited himself onto the coach to wembley and somehow managed to get a seat with the saints party. Miffy Posted 12 September, 2011 Share Posted 12 September, 2011 I was 12 at the time and my dad (who isn't into football) took me up on the train. We were in a large section of Saints fans that were in the middle of the Forest end. It must have been a section they couldn't sell and gave back ( or there was a ticketing cock-up). The forest fans behind us starting spitting down on us and then climbed into our section. It got a bit scary. We left just before the final goal if I remember correctly, got accosted by some drunk forest fans who were trying to be friendly but were really p!ssed and they nicked my hat. The journey back on the tube was all Saints, but the doors kept opening as we were going through the tunnels, stopping the train. The whole experience was a bit full-on for my dad who hasn't been to a game since, I loved it and have been going for the last 32 years.

saintbag Posted 14 September, 2011 Share Posted 14 September, 2011 Anyone remember the Saints fans who climbed out on the roof supports high above the crowd ? I remember one climbing back in and being pulled down by his legs by a policeman and cracking his face on a barrier, knocked him right out. Any sympathy we felt for him went right out the window when they gave him medical treatment right in front of us blocking our view for a few minutes. I remember my dad saying it served him right. Harder times !
alpine_saint Posted 14 September, 2011 Share Posted 14 September, 2011 9 years old and the first time football broke my heart. Listening on the radio to the commentators w*nk over Forest. I'm glad we beat the c*nts 3-2 last Saturday.
