modern matron Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 So many of our players look better in the championship than they did last season - Deano, Morgan, Rickie, Connelly, Chappers - to name a few. I think the little bit more time they are getting is really letting them strut their stuff. Long may it continue!!
LeBenali Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Guly definitely fits into this category, as I feel he's playing with slightly better team mates who can read quicker/better what he wants to do.
saintmatt Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Probably more motivated when playing in the Championship

Golden Balls Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Not sure about Chaplow as he's hardly played, but with you on the rest
Crazy Diamond Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 I have to say I didn't really enjoy last season, looking back on it. I didn't go mental when we went up either. This feels so much different though and yes I believe we've stepped up a gear. So far so good, but there is a long, long way to go.
eurosaint Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Adkins said all along that he was preparing a team which would be of 'championship standard' and not just to get us out of the 3rd division ! Looks like he was true to his word !

Crazy Diamond Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 What would it have taken for you to enjoy it? Honestly I just think it was the fact we were in League One, without wishing to sound like a Johnny Come Lately, and I was also living in Bournemouth at the time which had an impact. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy some bits. Like beating the Franchise, that was lovely. It just always felt like with the football we were playing, the players we had, the attendances we got, all of that kind of thing, we shouldn't have been playing down there. Two years of trips to places like Rochdale and Wycombe took their toll and I can't look back with an awful lot of fondness. I'm not stupid though, we've no divine right to be in any league but I really didn't like League One.
Bourno Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 I spoke to Dean Wilkins before the barnsley match (my son was the mascot) we both agreed that with more footballing teams in the championship Saints would do better as teams won't come to park the bus they will come to play football and this would suit us, and it's working a treat. Saint_lambden Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 Hammond has been better full stop since Adkins came in. Guly in the first half yesterday was a joy to watch.
doddisalegend Posted 11 September, 2011 Share Posted 11 September, 2011 I've been looking at it another way. I knew we had good players, we've a good team spirit, a winnning mentality and I was certain they'd do ok (in fact they're doing much better than that) at this level . What has surprised me is how poor most of the champ sides are I expected them to be much better than they have been if I'm honest.
