I thought mcgoldrick was an absolute waste of a sub for Forest today. Looked thoroughly clueless.

Yep, that sub took the flow out of their game and allowed us back in it.

Was absolute tosh today when he came on and brought back nightmares of his time in the limelight with us. Still can't believe that he was heralded as our next big thing back in those dark days.

We mugged Forest off massively when we offloaded him (plus he's not a nice piece of work either!!!).

McGoldrick changed the game today, utterly useless. I wasn't annoyed to see the back of Miller that's for sure.

Indeed. Whereas our substitutions were positive in that they addressed our shortcomings, Forest's were terrible. In fact I'd say they actually played right in to our hands.

That was a sub for the sake of using a sub, by a manager who had to make it look like he was looking for a winner......

If I was a Forest fan I would have been livid to see Miller taken off for that useless Billy Big Balls.

Fortunately I am not so was delighted to see him come on and do exactly as i predicted, ie - **** all !

Well done Steve, great substitution !

In fairness on the radio they said miller had picked up a injury

To be fair to DMG I he scored his fair share of goals in a sh!t team, and playing up front on his own most of the time.

Plus he did provide one of the very few high points of that season with his last minute winner at Preston.

But yes, ineffective is the most polite word I can think of to summarise his efforts today.

He did score goals, but I reckon someone like Lambo would have got 20 odd in that team. We were nieve and inexperienced, but we did create a lot of chances and a clinical, consistent finisher was probably the difference from a mid-table finish that season.

But due to our ''log jam'' of strikers, we sold them all.

Just goes to show how far we've come DMG never looked liked he could care less when he played for us. Look at the way Lambert celebrated today he loves it here. It feels like we have players who give a f uck these days.

Why did people boo him? I have no problem with him, he didn't leave in bad spirit, had to be sold to keep us ticking over!

Yeah, didn't agree with the booing myself - but that's what most do when an ex-player comes on, for some reason.

He did say some silly stuff to the press soon after he left though IIRC, along the lines of ''As soon as we were relegated and I asked my agent to push a move through to forest for me''

I didn't - I thought I'm so glad McGoldmiss is on we're going to win this now..............

Don't boo many returning players, but I boo'd McGoldrick. Very much has the big "I am" attitude for me. He's the footballing equivalent of Audley Harrison.

No, no, no, you must be wrong.

Adkins is rubbish and will be outdone tactically by more experienced managers such as McClaren; St Lard told us so!!!

;)

(He also said Lambert wasn't good enough for this division, but I won't mention that.)

He only just got in to double figures (and dont get me on to his penalty taking styleeeee).

Sh1te and a sh1te attitude as well.

that £1m however kept us ticking over though didnt it

Did it??

Liebherr was already sorting stuff out when he thought he was too good for us. I think the slae went through a couple of days after.

Miller was excellent, I thought.

A permament threat and the most likely match winner.

I was stunned when he was subbed and put it down to McLaren being clueless until I noticed Miller was actually hobbling towards the bench.

I still feared it was set up for McGoldrick to win the game, but he was just appalling.

My prediction that Miller would cause us problems was pooh-pooed on here by some, i'm sat here smug in my Nostradamus-like aura now. Think we should've signed him tbh, missed out on that one.

And McGoldrick is pants, was amazed when we got £1m for him! With our awful financial state at that time, i'm surprised we managed to get that much.

TBF he cuased problems against a makeshift back four, against our normal (settled) back four I doubt he'd of done so well. Though still better than Mcgoldmiss.

We should all say a big thank you to David Pleat for wasting £1.25m of their money on McGoaldrought allowing us to by Rickie. He scouted him and he recommended him when there was Surman and Lallana to buy instead.

Cost each club the same amount pretty much

Hmmmm I wonder if we got the better deal

NO CONTEST Dell Days,

like Beattie who cost £1 mill.... and Delgado over £3 million...

Historically, (at Saints) ... big fees guarantee NOTHING, and usually what we get.

How gutted must Huddersfield be, refusing to buy Ricky because he was too old. Ricky is one of the few much hyped players to justify it and his partnership with Connolly is a joy to watch.

Agreed !

.... not bad for two players who some people have already put in the " veteran " class !

Before he starts, **** off MLG you utter mong.

I stick by what I said a while ago. McGoldrick is one of the worst players I have ever seen. No composure when one-on-one, shooting ability of an amputee, all the footballing brain of a wet cabbage. The way he used to **** himself when there was a defender within a mile of him also speaks volumes.

I would like both in the squad to be honest. I don't understand why people called DMG lazy and disinterested, it was his first full season and he played every game. Also, I'm sure it was only him at Kelvin deferred their wages at the end of the season.

Don't be fair to DMG, it's misplaced.

He played about 50 games that season, own main striker. We created quite a lot, he was the penalty taker, but still didn't score many. More than that he didn't put the effort in while we struggled and acted like a spoilt child most the time.

One infuriating game he was asked to play wide right, there was so much space out there, but he just wouldn't, sulking and not bothering. The manager was screaming at him as the space could have been exploited countless times, but he just waved his arms around, shouted and strolled around the centre, not once breaking into a sweat or tracking anyone back. Yesterday again he still had the petulant sulky strolling style.

Fcking dreadful player and pro.

You're spot on with your assessment.

I watched a lot of the Youth Team games around that time and always thought that McGoldrick used to bully his way through games against his peers (and fair enough, you play to your strengths) and would struggle when he stepped up. His poor attitude (really arrogant, Billy big balls, I know best etc) meant that he was poorly equipped when his technique was found wanting.
