hamster Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 We are staying a few days in Brighton soon. Want to take the car as we will be then off to Kent for a further break.I want to drop off our cases and mrs h then leave the car away from the city centre, thus not paying silly money to park. Anyone know a safe area please not too far out?Cheers in advance.

andysstuff Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 You'll probably be OK anywhere off Preston Road - try around Surrenden Road - you can walk to London Road station and get the train back to the centre, about 2 minutes or get a bus from Preston Road. buctootim Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 Andy's right. Thats a good area to park. Near London road station and Preston Park. Its free (no residents parking permits or meters) but usually busy so you'll have to drive around a bit to find a space. I used to live in Florence road, you could try there. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&safe=off&q=brighton&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1315l3052l0l3352l8l8l0l2l2l0l234l1175l0.2.4l6l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1440&bih=775&wrapid=tlif131560397177210&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
Dr Who? Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 Many of the estates on the outskirts of the city have normal road parking. Just park and get the many buses on the way in. It is ONLY the town centre and the inner city that charge for parking.
Dr Who? Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 Hollingbury, that is it looked at a few houses there. It is a huge estate and loads of road parking going. Also you could try Moulsecombe, but you might not have a car when you get back, but it is near a station.
Verbal Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 I think the streets in the Hanover area are still permit-free (there's been talk of starting a permit scheme) - reasonable walking distance to the seafront and most things in the centre of Brighton.
