Dr Who? Posted 9 September, 2011 Posted 9 September, 2011 As we are talking sports at the moment and your best score, I used to be really good at Pool and used to play in a pool team. Cleared the table on a regular basis. When it came to snooker it was a different ball game (pardon the pun). I know that it is a bigger table, but you would really think it would not be that much harder than Pool, but I always though it was really much harder. My highest break was Red - 1 Black - 7 Red - 1 Black - 7 Yellow - 2 Green - 3 Brown - 4 Blue - 5 Pink - 6 Black - 7 43 - perfectic!!! This is with all the colours on their spots. What is your highest score. Total
Mark Posted 9 September, 2011 Posted 9 September, 2011 57. I made a few 50+ breaks but got sweaty palms around 40. Snookers one of the games that you have to play regularly. I used to play pool for the Elephant & castle (sholing) and The Ark (townhill park).
revolution saint Posted 9 September, 2011 Posted 9 September, 2011 46. Trouble is getting the balance between potting and position. These days I try too hard for position and end up missing the pot but console myself with the fact that if I want to improve then that's the way it's got to be.
Al de Man Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 Got a 32 off four reds and four blacks when I used to play regularly. Now I'd be lucky to pot two consecutive balls on a 12' table, although I'm a dab hand at pool winning 12 out of 13 frames last season.
skintsaint Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 think 9 is about mine...red, black, red. Really **** at pool/snooker.
Hatch Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 35 , when i was about 16. so a long time ago.
Dr Who? Posted 10 September, 2011 Author Posted 10 September, 2011 I find it one of the most frustrating sports, as I think it should be easier than it is, and some pots you think, well I have got this one, and you are thinking about the next only to miss a sitter!! This sitter is normally a straight shot to the middle pocket!! I found playing snooker directly before a pool match always helped. I played for the Winston pub in the early 90's opporsite The Dell.
PaulSaint Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 Question fir you snooker players: If player one starts and goes in off the black first shot and then player 2 plays a perfect game - is his break 154 or 147 ?
Trader Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 147 - your opponent's foul is not part of your break.
SaintBobby Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 It is, however, technically possible to get a 155 break (although, I suspect Gemmel may be exaggerating his best ever score....) If you're awarded a free ball before any reds have been potted, you could sink a colour and then the black for 8 points before going on to clear the table for a further 147. Does anyone know if a break in excess of 147 has ever been achieved? My own best is a dismal 26...
Trader Posted 10 September, 2011 Posted 10 September, 2011 Yep http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A30766025
