Tony10 Posted 7 September, 2011 Share Posted 7 September, 2011 Hi there, Sorry to bother you but I live outside of Southampton and am obviously a lifelong Saints fan. I'm taking my grandad to the Forrest game on Saturday for the Corp Hospitality in the Terry Paine suite and the match. This will be a really special occasion as I haven't seen him in years and then I'm emigrating to Australia soon so I want to make sure I get it right. Does anyone know of a good taxi firm to go from Totton to Saints return? I guess it would be nice to get a half decent car as well - I'm guessing it will be about £30 - £40 for the return trip - does this sound about right? Thanks alot for any help you can give me and sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. COYR Tony
sambosa75 Posted 7 September, 2011 Share Posted 7 September, 2011 Price sounds about right. Just don't keep the meter running outside the ground during the game! Have a great day!

Tony10 Posted 7 September, 2011 Author Share Posted 7 September, 2011 Just wanted to say thanks very much for your very kind replies. We're not a bad bunch us Saints, are we. I'm all sorted now. I really appreciate it and rest assured I'll make sure that whilst we'll be smartly attired and on best behaviour, I'll do my best to get the prawn sarnie munchers cheering us on. I might just sneak the Saints shirt on under the whistle as well. Cheers and here's to a cracking result. As a little thankyou here's a clip of the "Wally with the Brolly Ssshteeve McLaren ya" which I'm sure you've all seen but never fails to give a right old giggle. Essruu Posted 8 September, 2011 Share Posted 8 September, 2011 If you pay more than £12-14 (depending on which part of Totton it's to/from) each way then you're being mugged off. Radio Taxis, on the meter, no Boundary Charges: 02380 666666.

I didn't say "Go out on the street and wait until Southampton-plated hackney carriage passes by, then flag it down." A pre-booked private hire vehicle can pick up and drop off in any area. Hackneys also effectively become PHVs when out of their licensing area: so by phoning (for instance) Radio Taxis (Southampton) Ltd on the above number, any Hackney or PHV that is dispatched is able to pick up that fare - whether it originates or ends in the Southampton City boundary or not. Huffton Posted 8 September, 2011 Share Posted 8 September, 2011 Cabs in Southampton are a f//king rip-off IMO. Look at the overheads, then you'll see that your not really paying over the odds. Then compare that with Eastleigh and New Forest, who both charge more, but their cars can be any age, whereas Soton cabs all have to be under 7 years old. sotonjoe Posted 8 September, 2011 Share Posted 8 September, 2011 I'd steer clear of Radio Taxis tbh. Used to opt for them but had too many drivers I wasn't that keen on.

Kaiser Soze Posted 9 September, 2011 Share Posted 9 September, 2011 Salisbury cabs are the worst. Paid £45 from Swindon to Salisbury using a Swindon cab, from Salisbury to Swindon using a Salisbury cab it was £110!
