Song for Seaborne's return?

Great to hear Danny is expecting out this week, and hopefully can work towards a full recovery.

What will we sing when he gets back then?

"One Danny Seaborne!" or can someone be imaginative.

I've got an idea but it might not be appreciated by some, although it might make others laugh though.

Anyone come up with something really creative.

Someone on here mentioned the song "Ohhh Danny Boy-I Get Knocked Down" song which would be Pretty Good to sing and could catch on!!!

Yep, what I was hinting at. Could be a tad near the knuckle though, "He gets knocked down" "He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a cider drink" etc. and "Ohh Danny Boy".

Certainly fits, just could be deemed insensitive, I find it worth a giggle but hey ho.

Not sure how you could make it into a chant

Ooooh Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boooooy,

He gets knocked down, but he gets up again

You're never gonna keep him down

He gets knocked down, but he gets up again

You're never gonna keep him down

Ooooh Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boooooy

(and repeat)

Quite a simple one that would catch on nicely.

Great idea dannysfc! :)

The lyrics could maybe go something like:

Oh Danny Boy,

The Saints, The Saints are calling,

From stand to stand,

And down the players tunnel.

The scum who attacked yous gone,

And nearly left you dying,

Tis you, tis you we care about.

But come ye back,

When Saints are top o' table,

When Pompey's down and out the race for good,

Tis we'll be there in sunshine or floodlights,

Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, we love you so

He was born in Barnstaple which is approx 10 miles from the coast.

I'm not quite sure what the rules are regarding "Born by the sea" songs and proximity to the coast. Personally I would set the limit at 3 miles.

I think it was irony in the fact his name is Seabourne. Danny was Sea()Bourne (born) I suppose the change should be Danny Seabourne he was born in the sea.

Could be a worth a quick chuckle for stupidities sake but I doubt it will really stick

I do worry about some people on this forum when they don't notice the relation of Sea-borne and born (by the) sea. Bless them going on google to find out where he was ACTUALLY born and then concluding Barnstaple is not close enough to the sea.

I can see the away fans pi$sing themselves now! "Hes from Barnstaples which is 8.6 mies from the see which is not considered close you fools LOL"

I was quite aware of your 'clever' play on words. Just pointing out that the phrase "he's born by the sea" makes no sense.

90% of the songs/chants on this forum are ****ing abominations i sometimes wonder if people here have got any idea of terrace culture at all. I mean it's either soppy ****, chants that don't scan or...... well this

What happened to the days of ****ed up lads in pubs? Or spur of the moment terrace wit? I personally find these threads about as embarrassing for us as arsenal handing out songsheets. Guess it's just the way of the modern internet fan though.
