stevegrant Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 As much of an idiot as Eddie Mitchell is, the £1.4m in the bank is utterly unheard of for Bournemouth. Financially, they'll do alright as long as they can keep a side that's moderately competitive together. When the loan window opens next week, I'd expect a host of young players from Premier League clubs to flood in, which will probably be enough to keep them in mid-table this season. Danbert Posted 6 September, 2011 Author Share Posted 6 September, 2011 Given that he's "not an accountant" how much credence do you set by the 1.4 million figure? If they're really sitting on that sort of money how come none got spent in the transfer window?
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 Given that he's "not an accountant" how much credence do you set by the 1.4 million figure? If they're really sitting on that sort of money how come none got spent in the transfer window? Probably because of the fact that they have been 'hit by county court judgements' I would suggest that in reality the target for Bournemouth is survival in league 1, much to the fans displeasure, but then there is nothing new to the fans and the chairman to have vastly differing expectations. Bompy should be ok in league 1 this year, it is a poor poor league, with some very poor teams in it, and as Granty has said, with a few shrewd loans and keeping the spirit and belief up will keep them in the league this year, I can't see them being in as much financial turmoil as pompey were. If however panic sets in or even a few months of no payments (wages) then you may see them plummet.
dubai_phil Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 Noting the cash in the bank figure, has anyone asked what Mitchell's (probable) loans to the club total and how much interest he is charging on that?
rallyboy Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 listening to his horrendous display on Solent I noticed his self-proclaimed position as a sensible financial man was questioned by the guy who pointed out that the state of the accounts had got worse on his watch. If that is so, he's had it. He'll have to fall back on his people skills and earn a living training people in customer care. With his financial acumen and attitude he's starting to sound like a common version of Rupert - he's a ruddy-faced 2nd hand car dealer. Sounds like an ideal future business partner for one of Sandbanks' finest, perhaps when Spurs start flirting with administration.
Crazy Diamond Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 Appointing Lee Bradbury was a bad idea. That is the first article I have seen that supports that opinion. They did well appointing from within with Eddie Howe because he had been at the Club for years and knew it inside out. They should have appointed a proper manager when Howe left and their failure to do so has probably cost them a place in the Championship via the play-offs. It could yet cost them their League One status. What makes it worse is they've rewarded Steve the Ego Fletcher with the assistant manager's job. Some people aren't cut out to be coaches or managers, and he's one of them. It's the blind leading the blind in that management team at the moment. I'm fairly certain they could have attracted a decent manager to succeed Howe, but there is a small Club mentality down at Dean Court. I'm also not sure Eddie Howe will succeed at Burnley to be honest. Whilst it doesn't help they're selling off players against his wishes at Turf Moor but I don't think he has the quality to manage that Club in that division. OldNick Posted 6 September, 2011 Share Posted 6 September, 2011 if you listened to the forum interview, thy haven't got 1.4m in the back but 400k the rest is due in the next year or so from transfers in.
