Lazlo78 Posted 27 December, 2011 Share Posted 27 December, 2011 This lad will be a premiership player sooner than later Come back from an injury lay off and is running our midfield. First touch is immense and he played what was probably the best pass i've ever seen watching town in yesterdays game Has everything you need to be a classy central midfielder and is only going to improve That tribunal could be a bargain for us Great to hear! Would certainly like to hear updates about "The Ninja" every now and then...
Leicestersaint Posted 27 December, 2011 Share Posted 27 December, 2011 I think he will be yet another very good player to have slipped through our net - in a few years we may see him in the PL.
Lighthouse Posted 27 December, 2011 Share Posted 27 December, 2011 I think he will be yet another very good player to have slipped through our net - in a few years we may see him in the PL. That is the nature of accademies and indeed football. It's nothing we should really regret, players who slipped through the net and ended up in the Premier League are rare. Leon Best has shown a few glimmers of potential for the Barcodes, but has yet to trouble double figures in the scoring charts. Scott McDonald was pretty good in Scotland. Other than that I'm really struggling to think of players we've let go, who then set the world alight. For every player there are several dosen Craig Richards, Leandre Griffits and Simon Gilletts who drift off into obscurity.

Simon Gillet has played Championship football for the last 2 seasons- more than he would have done if he had stayed with us so I hardly think that he has drifted off into obscurity. Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 We should resign him now? 2m should do it?
St_Tel49 Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Good to hear he's doing well. He wouldn't have got near our team this season with our midfield options, so this was a great move for him. I think that he might well have been a regular on the bench. NA was bitterly disappointed that he chose to go rather than fight for a place here. He clearly wanted to be playing and thought that more likely with Huddersfield. Matthew Le God Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 I think that he might well have been a regular on the bench. Ahead of one or two of Chaplow, Schniederlin, Hammond, Cork? If he were still here, he'd be 5th choice central midfielder and rarely even get on the bench.

Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2011 Share Posted 28 December, 2011 Would we have still signed Cork if Gobern stayed with us? Of course, Gobern was periphery to the first team squad anyway, better off out of it,wouldn't have had much future with us.
saintmatt Posted 6 January, 2012 Share Posted 6 January, 2012 Just scored - Friday night in watching Wycombe vs. Huddersfield for me, sure! Bloody love a bit of League One football! Can't believe Huddersfield left Jordan Rhodes out of their side for periods last season (I am right in thinking they did aren't I??), pretty happy they did though! There was a rumour the other day the Fulham loanee at Wycombe Trotta may be on our radar. Had a couple of good touches so far good left foot. saintmatt Posted 6 January, 2012 Share Posted 6 January, 2012 They dropped him for the playoff final. Managers are odd sometimes. Madness! I know Wycombe aren't exactly top opposition, but Rhodes has looked absolutely awesome tonight, even if his 3 goals are disregarded!

S-Clarke Posted 6 January, 2012 Share Posted 6 January, 2012 (Gobern's still playing well by the way) Gobern has been great for them in all the games he's played to be honest, they really really rate him up there. Pleased for him.

Yeah pleased for him too, I always rated him when he was with us, just a shame he never got a proper run in the team. Understandable with our midfield options though

Understandable with our midfield options though Maybe he'd have got more of a run in the team if he hadn't picked up that crazy dismissal at Bournemouth. Adkins seemed quite annoyed when Gobern left as he felt they'd made it clear he had a future here.
Monk Posted 6 January, 2012 Share Posted 6 January, 2012 Lee Clark really rates Gobern. One that got away? Then again he would'nt of had the game time like he has had at Udders so would'nt have progressed so well.

It's good that he's getting the games and has progressed, you could see he had talent when he made his debut against PNE years ago. He has a real presence about him.
