SuperMikey Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Anyone got a home studio hooked up at their gaff? Looking at getting a really basic one set up just so I can p!ss about with some sounds. Used a MIDI set-up quite extensively when I did A-level Music Tech, so know a fair bit about the whole recording/mixing process, i'm just after some suggestions for programs, audio interfaces etc. We used an Edirol UA-25 for the Audio Interface, and Cubase as the editing suite and that worked pretty well, although having looked into prices etc. it seems that would set me back a fair wedge! All I would want is basically a MIDI keyboard, a sound bank (Reason by Propellorhead is pretty good) and some kind of editing software to piece it all together with.
Baj Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 Yeah, the core of my set up is an Alesis multimix 8, Cubase 5 and a Rode NT1-A mic. You know what guitars and amps I have so I wont bore you with those. I have a fairly simple amp and monitor set up, but also some really good behringer headphones for mixing.
SuperMikey Posted 5 September, 2011 Author Posted 5 September, 2011 How much did your Cubase suite set you back? It's probably out of my price range but Cubase is very good.
SuperMikey Posted 5 September, 2011 Author Posted 5 September, 2011 I have a free version of Fruity Loops - not a huge fan tbh. The premium one will have more features etc but I don't find it too easy to use.
