Very very early I know, but if you book now then you can £34 return cross country direct from Southampton Central. Booked ours, arrive early doors half 9ish. Ground is miles from the city centre so allowed plenty of time to make the most of it!

If you have a network card you can get return train ticket Banbury on network card and then return from Banbury to Coventry as standard return fare £11.80 which I think is about the same fare.

Unlike the £34 fare, this will not change however late you book it, from Salisbury it works out about £36 return

NB make sure when getting tickets you book seats (this is free) as these trains get really crowded

Out of interest Chap, what are you planning to do in Cov? It's not that stimulating here....... unless you are a fan of concrete or late 70's/early 80's ska.

Agree with Andy, Coventry away is just awful... as I'm back I'll still end up going mind. Taxi to ground from the city centre and back I suppose.

Posted
not another colchester?? New ground away rom anywhere, sod it i'm driving then.
I'd actually say it was worse than Colchester, utterly s**t place to visit. Still booked up for it for some reason....................

It really is worse then Colchester. It's just an appalling away day in an appalling city. I stood at the top last time there and I swear I was getting a sense of vertigo, it's a very strange stadium.

Best thing to do, find a pub in Longford called 'JK English.' It is a pub and curry house, is relaxed and about ten minutes walk from the town, or park in Exhall/Bedworth and go to one of the pubs there. No point really in trying the city centre.... it's just too far.

How much roughly would a taxi be from the city centre to the ground?

Always gone by car but this will be the first time getting the train.

Set aside a tenner to be safe. There are buses from Pool meadow station to the ground that are a bit more reasonable.

We were in there last few times pretty decent pub quite small tho

Going to do this one. Never been to the new ground.

I guess there is a bus service to the stadium?

last time i went there the bus ran from the station, but the traffic was awful, don't know what was going on but it took 40 mins to get to the ground from the city centre, bear in mind if you have been in the pub for a bit there are no toilets on board, so not a pleasant journey. For those going by car the ground is just off the motorway, so might be worth stopping somewhere like Leamington Spa on the way for a drink then parking up near the ground.

Make sure you don't bottle it again.

As we discussed last week, i am still coming to terms with being around people without my lap top for protection.

Going to start off at the spoons on the high street, 'The Earl of Mercia' and then move onto the pub Colinjb has recommended above I think.

If you want a Wetherspoons I would recommend 'The Flying Standard' over 'The Earl or Mercia.' It is closer to the bus station/taxi ranks then The Earl and offers a better range of drinks and more standing room/seating options.

Sounds good, cheers.

I haven't done this ground yet but planning to this time round. I've heard it's a bit barren where pubs are concerned but had a chat with a Leeds fan recently who was there on their last visit and said they didn't stop any Leeds fans from going into the casino and drinking before the game. He said it was down some escalators, if anyone is familiar with it, and was rammed with their lot. Possibilty for a drink?

Anyone interested in getting the train to this one, and travelling from London, you can get London Midland services from Euston to Coventry. They are slower than the virgin trains, but London Midland are doing a £10 unlimited travel offer for that weekend so a cheap way of doing it http://www.londonmidland.com/tickets-and-fares/great-escape/

if going by train from Southampton obviously better just going direct on cross country trains.

Posted
When do the tickets go on sale for this dump?
Saints will leave it as late as possible to put them on sale as usual. The more I think about htis game, the more I realise what an utterly s**t away day it actually is.

F**ks sake, thought I'd got a bargain booking well in advance for £12. Great deal that though.

Agreed. By far one of the dullest. I'd need to develop a skag habit to cope with the sheer depression if I lived there.

West Ham have just been given an initial allocation of 4000 but could get more tickets once sold. Only £22 adult, easy to get to, can see another big away day coming up.

Then on to Brizzol..........

Well, speaking as a resident the fortnightly trips to St Mary's help.

I have to agree with the consensus view of Coventry. Bombed to f/ck during the war so no character and full of chavs and irish immigrants.

Not making the trip then Dune?

Shame, maybe next (?) time.

Might go to this one if we're still on fire as i'd take a days holiday. I'll give you a shout Col.

Train is 8 quid from London. Not particularly looking forward to it because it's a sh*t away day but I can't complain with the price of travel. If we've taken 2,500 to Leicester and 2,700 to Derby I'd expect over 2,000 for Coventry.

I'd expect around 3,000. It's closer than Leicester and Derby as well... just.

Allocation of 1,024 and no mention of more being available if required. Surely that can't be it? Last time I went was on a Tuesday night and we took 1800 up there.

There must be more available as Coventry get atrocious crowds. I don't believe they even have any fans in the stand that houses the away fans, so in theory we should be able to have the whole stand if we wanted.

Posted

I hate it when they put misleading information on the website, despite Cov sening us just over 1k tickets the end holds over 6000 and away teams can have it all if needed.

Leicester filled the whole end first game of the season, http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10269~58432,00.html

and had 6,264 fans there, the ticket news confirms it is cash turnstiles on the day costing more.

there are direct trains from southampton to coventry and easy one to drive to with the ground being just off the motorway, would be good to take 4000 up there.
