I have emailed Saints but I've received nothing yet. A little frustrated because I know my football.

is there not a description of the procedure for obtaining a trial in the U21 squad section on the OS?

yep looked at that, basically it says if you're good enough we'll know about it.

I would have thought the first thing to do would be get him an agent sorted, though they are bottom feeding pond life they are very handy, If he has one already get him to do his job and put together some footage of the youngster and get that to the clubs scouts. To be honest I have no real Idea how it works in football, but in media most companies publishers wont touch scripts or manuscripts that are just sent in. If this player is attached to some other club could cause issues.

If he wants an agent, then I'm up for a career change!

If for real he should have a agent if not get him one who can offer him a chance if not get him over here play for a non league team and work his way up, i would suggest a VCS team and then if hes good enough he would stand out at that level, and within 2/3 training sessions would get a game then email saying this players playing this day come have a look.

My mate plays non league and had a piece about him in the pink other day, hes only 21 and has been looked at by brighton and bmouth before.

Look Andy, rest assured EVERY kid in Europe who can kick a ball who is over the age of 4 has been scouted and re-scouted, trialed and re-trialed.

Your mate would not have been missed, just tell him he's no good and put him out of his flippin' misery. The big scouts scene of Europe would have found the last drop of juice in every lemon.

Straight from the mouth of Arsene Wenger :-)

I have become friends with a top young prospect from Austria. He wants to sign for Saints. Who can I speak to or make contact with at Saints to see if Saints might want to take him. Believe me this attacker will make a big impact

Funniest posts ever.

There are always late developers coming through - look at Smalling about to become an England international.

Get him on the next series of Wayne Rooney Street Striker. If he does well on that and wears an "I love Nicola Cortese" T-shirt, I can't see how he would fail to get picked up. Make sure you have signed him up to a contract so that you receive your fair share of the spoils as he inevitably rises to stardom to become the next Messi.

Smalling was with Millwall at a young age, they turfed him out because they didn't think he'd make the grade I guess, then he got better in the lower leagues. Wasn't missed at the start, scouting did it's job,I guess Millwall's youth coaches didn't though. Saints have turfed plenty out at academy or youth level that we now wish they hadn't.

Aye, like that aspiring right back Keving Phillips - whatever happened to him?

Funny that, I was thinking about posting something similar to this on the pompey forum.

Many many yrs ago my Grandfather told Saints of a young scottish prospect he heard when on holiday "back home" called Ray Stewart. Lawrie wrote back saying get him here and we'll give him a trial but he wasn't in a position to do that. Ray went on to play 345 times for West Ham.

Drive him to the St Mary's doorstep with a football and do some keepy uppy's until someone spots him!

If that fails then write to the club with the title attn: Youth coaches.

Good luck & well done for doing this.

Does anyone know how many keepie uppies are required to secure a contract? I did 40 odd the other week, although the ball was a bit flat. I also have an austrian mate who can do about 35.

Dunno, if you can travel a full pitch length, turn and come all the way back without the ball

touching the ground you might get on the bench for the second team for my local U13s though, provided of course you're under 13.:smug:

I know a life long Saints fan whose son was very promising. Trials for two top five clubs and eventually signed to a lower prem side. She tried to him a trial at Saints but was always told, "if we are interested our scouts will pick him up". Maybe they were right, he never did make it.
