The reaction in some quarters to our failure to make some big signings really got to me yesterday, so I thought I'd pull up the last thread when I "lost it" with some of those who IMO are needlessly and/or excessively and/or perpetually negative.

If you want a chuckle, take a run through this thread from last March with the hindsight of how that season turned out, and where we sit today:

Completely agree with you Canada Saint. We do seem to have more than our fair share of spoilt little brats on this site who want everything on a plate now no matter what the cost or de-stabilising of the squad it may cause.

Haha!!!

At least my own post was consistent. "I can handle freak results like this. I CANNOT handle the service I got from Saints Player."

Saints Player is also consistently crap. ;)

Excellent read Canada, even after the Leicester game, there were one or two suggesting we sharpen the axe and prepare ourselves for mid-table oblivion...we have one of the best squads in this division and still they're not satisfied.

One or two seemed to think we should have played a weaker side v.Swindon, yet have won by a bigger score !

No team is going to lay down and think of England when they play us. Many " less ambitious sides " lose every other week, yet treat games with us like a Cup Final..and raise their game.

We still have too many fans who are disappointed when we "only win 1-0" - but it's still 3 points all the same.

They look at the "last game " and don't assess the bigger picture.

What is fundamentally the same side has lost only TWICE in the last 20 competitive matches !

We have no " Divine Right" to win every game - even if Nigel wants us to, and the occasional "hiccup " brings it home more than ever.

To be honest after that result i didn't think we'd go up.

I was worried but looking back we tore them a new one but just could not score..didnt we have something like 30+ chances..?..

would have been worse if we struggled to have more than a few..........

however, some of the feet stamping is funny as fuk

The funniest part was the hysterical girly fit from the resident drama queen.

"It is crystal clear that, on the strength of this result and the post-Oldham era, there are either some serious f**king attitude problems in the squad, or the manager is utterly incapable of lifting the players to the right state of mind for the games."

Cue Saints losing one match in 4 months. :D

Hmm, not quite. We played well in the first half, the second half and especially after they scored we just pumped it into the box, looked clueless. It was that sort of lack of guile and panicking when we couldn't steam roller a team which led me to think we'd bottle it in the play offs.

F*ck you overpaid players who last gave a cr*p against Man United and never take their chances.

F*ck you Solent which forces me to listen to Skates winning and possibly making the playoffs.

F*ck you."

Do you think he's still got it in for the Forum ?

11 shots on target and 9 off, first page of that thread.

We did play really well first half against Wallsall, their keeper had a worldy and we should have won it comfortably really. Just one of those games.

But those with perspective would have seen it was just one of those games, and we were still very well positioned to go up. Which we did in the end. People focus too much on single results.

We lost. Big deal.

We might win next week.

Get grip the tw4ts who are thinking the end is nigh.

now some of the hysterical tarts..

Adkins has always been out of his depth, he is apoor mans version of luggy in 2004 !

Adkins has to go, we need an experienced manager, if mot Hoddle or Strachan, then who ?

We need Glenn Hoddle back in charge NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ADKINS OUT!!!!

I imagine this will be the end of the Adkins regime. Mr Cortese will not be a happy man, he wants promotion this year and Adkins seems ever more incapable of delivering it.

No Adkins it isn't a freak result, this is typical of our performances since Adkins came in

It is typical. Adkins is a sh*te manager, many half decent managers could do well with a team of players who are by far the most talented in the division yet we have ZERO consistency. NO ONE can defend this. It is utterly pathetic how we can get sh*te results like this.

all from Hypo (bar the hoddle quote, which is from you know who)

such a pleasent chap is our hypo

So many knee-jerk reactions.

What we did after that result was extraordinary and record breaking, to me that shows that Adkins knew exactly what he had to do to get out of this league. If he'd have had a strop about that result, like some of our fans, we'd have struggled - but he's clever enough to see the bigger picture, and to see that we actually had lots and lots of games in front of us.

Draw a line under it etc, don't get too down after a loss, or too elated after a win. Good management.

lol @ my post though. What a pleb.

Yes lets go back months to a reaction thread where views were aired immediately after a game where I was p*ssed off that saints lost (and incidentally I did not feel the same way the next day and I believe I posted to that effect at the time.) Great thread, Canada saint is a genius.

No difference. I was livid because I hate to see saints lose because I love my team. I did not feel the same way the next day and posted to that effect AND we then went on a record breaking run (something we had to do to secure second and which was not obvious immediately after a cr*p result.)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

so is not demanding the manager out after one freak result

Yes I reacted in the heat of the moment after being really p*ssed off at a cr*p performance which left us lagging behind for promotion. I'm sure everyone on here is saintly and has never reacted rashly in the immediate aftermath of something (especially to do with saints where passions run high.) The next day I felt I had reacted too harshly and posted as much at the time.

Feel free to continue the w*nksesh over the fact that the subsequent record breaking run made me look foolish if you wish. What you fail to realise is that I am actually immensely pleased that I looked stupid because it means the team has done well and I support southampton football club, go to as many games as I can and sing as loud as I can.

It was a comment expressed in the heat of the moment and before our record breaking winning run which secured us second. I realised I had been hasty in reacting so soon after a rubbish performance and posted as much the following day.

Shocking result really when the opportunity to make up ground was there for the taking!!.......as with most clubs nowadays, full of overpaid journeymen who frankly will play for anyone who pays the most cash.

Play offs are , I believe, unlikely now. Too many other teams are picking up points.......7th place is my prediction, but hey at least Bournemouth and Brighton are on an upward trend , so good for south coast footy in general

Which players were considered journeymen back then? Amazing how nearly all the team now feel like our own.

All I can say is I am happy that the subsequent winning run meant that my initial extremely rash initial comments immediately following a defeat were incorrect. I'm really pleased that saints did well and also Adkins who has proven himself a decent manager thus far. I'm actually more pleased that he is doing well at the start of this campaign since I always said that the NPC would be the real test.

Fantastic! I want SFC to do well. I'm a supporter. In fact I wanted them to do well soo much that it actually p*ssed me off that we had a cr*p few results and with automatic promotion hopes seemingly fading, I made a some rash comments and let my emotion get the better of me. I'm sure that is something you have never done in your life.

Wow that is interesting, some of us need to remember it is only a game with the most important things such as family, health and work coming way way way ahead of over paid footballers

My intention (whether he believes it or not - and he won't) wasn't to humiliate Hypo (because he's certainly not the only one) but to highlight the stupidity of the over-the-top, knee-jerk negativity that infests this forum.

At least Hypo has the balls to visit the thread and stand up for himself.

It's only by revisiting the past that we can improve the future, and I - for one - would like to see less of the negativity on here.

We don't all have to be happy-clappy all the time, but FFS let's enjoy being fans a bit more, with all the ups and downs that it entails.

Hypo. 100% wrong, 100% of the time.

Why he is now on ignore.

Nail on the head. Although, i don't hate him, i just feel really sorry for him. He clearly has no life or friends. Must admit though, sometimes it is good to laugh at the boring, negative, computer-geek, virgin.

I have loads of fun being a fan but I reserve the right to feel disappointed and p*ssed off with the club too. Many are disappointed with last nights lack of activity in the transfer market. Is that a bad thing? Should they be hung drawn and quatered simply because you don't share that opinion?

What am I meant to do, supress my feelings of disappointment along with quite a number of others on here? Are we only allowed to talk about theories and speculation which paint the club in a positive light? Of course there are going to be knee jerk negative comments after a crushing loss which made it look like the automatic promotion places were slipping away.

still think we should have signed Messi and my whippet.

We were absolutely taken apart by Leicester. Crazy for NC not to get the cheque book out and get some quality in. Our mid-field especially needs strengthening. Very weak, and you can see how easily they are being pushed off the ball. If my whippet was in the mix she wouldn't let the opposition control the game like the present lot do.

Oh well. Better prepare ourselves for another stint in league one next season because that's about the level of our current squad. Only 12 points from the first 15 - and those were against some of the weaker sides in this division. Really poor. Lowe out.

That particular defeat left me very angry because of its importance and our lack of a performance it's not after any old defeat. I was actually very positive after the recent Leicester loss and on numerous ocassions last year. I wasn't more than p*ssed off, I was perfectly fine the next day and posted on here saying I had been rash.
