I guess this is the next 100 page thread in waiting?

 

Who's out there?

 

Liverpool fan told me today that rumour up there that Jay Spearing may be heading our way on a season-long lone.

 

Central midfielder, played a few for their first team last season - do we need a central midfielder?

 

Pinch of salt - but he does come from the Wirrall same as ol' Nige :p

I thought he looked pretty useful for Huddersfield last season.

 

Wouldn't be a bad loan atall, but from what i saw of him last year he has pace in abundance but no goalscoring prowess to back it up.

 

Still wouldn't turn my nose up at him if he arrived here.

Sanchez Watt would be good, Leigh Griffiths from Wolves is also a good shout - reminds me a lot of David Connolly except he's much quicker than DC is now.

 

Basically we should be looking for a pacy striker to come off the bench and scare the defence.

I think Leigh has gone back to Scotland on Loan, not sure about Watt - is he a winger? He didn't do much at Leeds last year tbh. But I agree with the view that we need some pace on the bench, other than De Ridder.

Leigh Griffiths is at Hibs. Sanchez Watt is a left footed winger, currently still at Arsenal. Not sure how we'd use him in the current squad, to be honest. 1 goal in 22 at Leeds last year suggests he's not a striker.

Ah yes, forgot about that Leigh going on loan to Hibs, he's a good player. Watt is a winger but can also play up front. I think he was predominantly used as a winger in his time at Leeds, that explains the lack of goals.

I haven't found one yet, the Wolves one is on Wolves.co.uk though, only looked at it due to the mention of Leigh Griffiths above.

Imagine he may well end up at Peterborough, but I think Sir Alex was complimentary to us after the cup tie in January, so we may well be in with a chance, and if it's true that it is to lead to a permanent transfer in January, then I doubt they would be able to afford him.

 

Also interestingly a couple of decent defenders, Danny Collins of Stoke and Danny ****tu of QPR, have been left out so will be on the move and depending on how Danny progresses, I wonder if we may be in the market for another defender?

 

Finally upfront Patrick Agyemang and Rob Hulse look like decent options and Hogan Ephraim, who I think said some positives things about us on twitter, has also been left out...

 

Then you have the usual young loan options and I think Simon Cox, Benik Afobe and Macheda could be top of our list should we target a striker.

Craig Dawson from West Brom (he is under 21 so probably wouldn't appear on their squad of 24 list)

 

Good shout, he played well for the England Under 21's the other night but not sure whether Hodgson would be willing to let him go.

If we loan someone in from a PL club then he pretty much has to be a starter as no point in them loaning out to be a reserve.

 

Would NA want to bring someone in on that basis, bearing in mind he has just signed JH to cover at the back and we therefore still have four C/backs even allowing for the unfortunate DS (good luck Danny). Also NA may go for a loan at some point with view to buy in January to tie up Fontaine if his injury comes good.

 

Similarly our forwards are sorted really unless injuries strike. If someone comes in he has to sit on the bench or one of our current starters would have to. NA may prefer to wait until an actual need arises.

Came on for Scotland v Czechs on Saturday... Albeit to no great benefit.

This was a rumour I hoped might happen,and spent part of Weds listening re Cahill at Bolton which had implications regarding Wheater.

 

However I can't see this happening as he cost Bolton too much to loan out,and we're probably too far south.Plus, Adkins has now brought Hooiveld in.
