The ladies were loving Jack Cork !!

After last nights anticlimax I think the whole open training session backfired a little. I'm sure they would have got a hell of a lot more turnout had we signed some exciting players. Dont get me wrong, Im sure the few that went enjoyed themselves but Im guessing the main aim of it was to get the feel good factor up with the new stiker that never was....

I agree. I can't help thinking that this was supposed to be an 'event' to announce a couple of signings. A record breaking signing would've been worthy of an 'event' I think, but as you say, it didn't come off did it? I was still kinda hoping that they were gonna do something Steve Jobs like at the end and say "oh, one more thing........, here's JRod/Maynard!"

I get the feeling it's more aimed at the the younger fans than anything HTBH.

I'm sure that's the case I took my three kids who thoroughly enjoyed it all must have been just over 1000 there

, players were brilliant signing Autographs and having photos taken afterwards

Made a change form seeing all the Chav fans of Spurs/ Arsenal / Liverpool at training grounds on SKY yesterday

My kids went with their mum had a great time, funnily enough they weren't to bothered by a lack of new signings...

Just watched the video on Saints player - Forecast is back again then......he is such a waste of time, he can't even get a game at Thurrock for christ sake.

Nonsense - he played at least once for Thurrock, against Dover. It will come as a surprise to no one on here that he let four past him.

Some of the rubbish written on here is unbelievable. The morning was excellent, the team looked very together and everyone there had a great time. Barnard said he was a few weeks away yet, Jos seemed to be really enjoying himself hope he does the business!

Just got in from work, mate told me he went and was talking to Fox, nice guy and when asked about J Rod he said he also did want to come but didnt want to hand in a transfer request because he is from the area, apperently we did have an offer accepted but a quarter to it was to late but we can expect some top loans after the prem teams sort out their squads so that they know who they can loan as loans cant go to other prem club.

Love my football but dont know how true anything maybe, just letting you know what I was told.

FWIW I love the squad we have and well excited about the rest of the season COYS

bloody hell............he really is poor isn't he. It might be better to register Nigel as a player, if it gets so desperate we need tommy fourpast in goal I'd rather stick Nigel between the sticks.

ROFPML! Was there today and the GKs were setting up when a lady sat behind me started explaining who was who to her very young daughters. She asked, loudly, "Who is the person who is not Bart or Kelvin". I turned and told her it was Tommy Forecast A.K.A. Fourpast. After watching him for a while, spilling shots and not handling at all well, she said "Oh I can see why he's called that!"

Glad this snippet backs me up!

FFS get over your self. Why bring in players for the sake of it? There is a fantastic TEAM spirit at the club at the moment so why spoil it just to sign a Beckford, Maynard, Gorkass et al. Just because we have money to spend does not mean we have to spend it on a deal that may not be for the good of the TEAM. I would rather keep what we have at the moment then jeopardize it just to sign a so called marquee signing. The TEAM spirit/winning mentality means far more than signing some one for £4.5m. COYRs

Totally agree

I was quite shocked when I started reading this thread... full of negativity from people who didn't go.

It was actually a great morning. I was surprised how many people went tbh. Really good turn out. Players were excellent with the kids and young fans at the end. They all took a long time signing autographs, posing for photos and chatting. Really good to see.

If people want to slag this sort of thing off they should go first and then judge what they see

As I read this thread I am looking at a picture of my son with Jimmy Case at an open training session about 25 years ago ! (It is on the wall in my study!).

It meant a lot to him at the time and I also remember it as a great day, meeting all the players of that time !

I'm afraid that fan websites seem to bring out the worst in some people who always tend to look for a 'hidden agenda' !

I'm delighted that those who attended enjoyed it and hope that 25 years down the line they still have something to proudly look back upon !

This, by far and away, this. Currently I believe we have something in the squad that money just can't buy.

My little nephews went along and they had a great time with their grandad (I was up the cricket ground painting the pavillion!!!).

Always thought the Club should be doing these type of days, so fair play to them. Minimal expenditure and a great way for some youngsters to see the players close up (and also good for the players to socialise with the fans).
