Jack Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Somewhere between 3rd and 10th. This poll needs more options IMO
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 2 September, 2011 Posted 2 September, 2011 I think play offs. But based on the games I've seen we've a real chance of automatic promotion barring a spate of injuries all occurring in the same perod.
1976_Child Posted 2 September, 2011 Posted 2 September, 2011 I think play offs. But based on the games I've seen we've a real chance of automatic promotion barring a spate of injuries all occurring in the same perod. you are kidding, right? Automatic promotion? That is the funniest thing I've ever heard! We are going to struggle to stay in the top half of the table. 5 games gone and a lucky start is all. May I remind you all that Blackpool were in the top 4 of the Prem after their first 5 games last season. And now where are they? All this hubris about having a good squad. Yes, fine, they are better than most div 3 sides. But please, get grounded. This is not a Championship winning team, as exciting and thrilling as they are to watch. Get grounded. Mid table is a good result, fighting to stay up is highly probable.
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 2 September, 2011 Posted 2 September, 2011 Nope, not kidding. Just an opinion based on what I've seen of Saints (90 minutes) against Leeds, Torquay, Millwall, and what I've seen of Leicester, Blackpool and the other challengers (granted it's only been TV highlights). Enjoy your season.
A Saint Abroad Posted 2 September, 2011 Posted 2 September, 2011 I think a successful season will see us make the playoffs
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 2 September, 2011 Posted 2 September, 2011 7th to 12th but opinion trending upwards rather than downwards. If we go injury free all season, should make the top 6, so that might be a good target.
St Chalet Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Poll added. It's a public one by the way so expect this to be reviewed at end of season.
CWD Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 I've said Play-offs since the end of last season and have seen nothing to change my view. COYR
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 I feel we are capable of making the playoffs. Although pleased, and excited, at our current showing I have to temper that with a modicum of realism hence my poll choice.
View From The Top Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Before the 1st ball of last season was kicked I knew we'd go up. I had the same feeling this year. My nipper made me vote play offs though.
scotty Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Playoffs, but with a last ditch stab at automatic.
John B Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 I have no idea some anywhere in the top half I would have thought
Dalek2003 Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 I have it on good authority that we are going to finish 17th. So I've put my house on it. Wow, great minds think alike ! We have had a good start and I think that this will help but we will gradually slip down the table towards the end of the season. 17th, but comfortable, in that we will not be flirting with relegation.
The Kraken Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Without signing a dominant centre half and top centre forward, I think we'll finish 7th or 8th. I have doubts Connolly can carry on with his scoring, and still not sure about Barnard at this level. But with Lallana, Guly and our other attacking options I think we'll do ok. But in defence I think we could get found out a bit, and if we're without Fonte for any significant stretch we could get properly undone.

Can't remember any point last season where he was actually out injured?
The Kraken Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 This is the massive unknown really. Can't remember any point last season where he was actually out injured? Exactly, and now with Seaborne out for goodness knows how long and a complete unknown of a signing (who, lets be honest, isn't setting pulses racing) it could be our problem area.
Charlie Wayman Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Sorry mods I clicked the wrong button accidentally! I'm sure we'll finish Upper Table not Lower Table as recorded. If you can change it please do.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing Barnard having a crack at the champ. Is he good enough who knows? but he deserves his chance IMO. Then again plenty of players are coming up from the lower leagues and seem to be doing alright at this level I'm starting to think the step up from league 1 to championship isn't as big as I thought it was going to be.
corsacar saint Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 8th,without decent cover for Rickie and another top [Fonte] like centre half.
ottery st mary Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 wum ! ok ......Runners Up if not champions:) A tip off from a mate in a pub... Always thought we be in there with a shout.. WIFM

Gingeletiss Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 Playoffs, but should we get another, quality centrehalf, then perhaps automatic, but playoffs are achievable.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 17th, but comfortable, in that we will not be flirting with relegation. - Last season the team that finished 17th (Barnsley) had 56 points after 46 games. - Currently Saints have 12 from 5 games. So you think Saints will only pick up roughly 44 points from the remaining 41 games? Based on last seasons 17th placed team's record, that would be something like... Play 41 Win 10 Draw 14 Lose 17 I think you are being extremely pessimistic if you think that is how the next 41 League games will go for Saints!
scotty Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 My entrails say 5th. Where did you scatter them? My dog needs feeding.
SNSUN Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 Dan Seaborne WILL be a loss, I hope our new loanee can settle straight into his position until January when we can reassess our position and squad. We have the quality, we have the team spirit, steer clear of injurys and we can be flying by Christmas.
Aardvark Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 Wow, great minds think alike ! Good grief..........
Dalek2003 Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 Can't believe the % for lower mid table is so low all things considered.
S-Clarke Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 sainttomski - why do you think we'll get relegated??
SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 5 September, 2011 Posted 5 September, 2011 I think we will finish somewhere in the top half and have the potential to finish in the automatic places if we can remain largely injury-free, especially if Hooiveld turns out to be a class signing or Aaron Martin develops another notch and forms a great relationship with Fonte. However, should Fonte get injured we could struggle defensively. I think, however, that we will continue to create and score a lot of goals and cannot see that being a problem. So, even if Fonte gets injured we could always do a 'Peterborough' by outscoring our opponents! Consequently I have voted 'play-offs'.

I know you're just being a WUM but who are the 16 teams who'll finish above us then?
Wade Garrett Posted 6 September, 2011 Posted 6 September, 2011 I hope I'm wrong, but our failure to land a front man in the window could come back and haunt us. I think we could challenge for a play-off spot but it depends on injuries.
Ohio Saint Posted 8 September, 2011 Posted 8 September, 2011 I voted auto promotion. Having said that, I do realise that I had my happy hat on at the time. I think promotion is a realistic option IF NA can maintain the terrific team spirit we seem to have at the moment. I believe he can maintain it based on the slow, steady rise in team confidence that he achieved last year. Sure, we have a couple of gaps in the squad, but I think a good spirit can overcome that problem for a good many of the games.
