That Twitter is absolute cobblers regarding salaries etc.... unless cortese is lying

I listened to an interview with Eddie Howe saying Cork left because there was no way they could match our personal terms which were way above burnleys ceiling cap.

Awww I wanna update all my chums about all this info and show how cool I am and how much inside information I have, but as interesting as it all is, it is hard to believe it is actually a reliable source!

There is no doubt that it is all made up... a chairman talking about salaries of players, gossip and bids.

I am not saying they are but Lambert/Lallana would more than likely have a clause in their contracts giving them automatic wage rises due to promotion, also a wage reduction if relegated, and as they have both recently signed new contracts I would imagine that they have stipulations that they are the always the highest paid players at the club,so ifwe sign someone and pay them 30k a week they also rise to that,so for them to be on £25k a week is possible

Posted

Lambert signed on £10k per week when he joined from Bristol Rovers. Source is another player wanted by Saints and offered parity with top earner at SFC (RL). £25k is bulls*** and there's no way NC would allude to that anyway.

Posted
It shouldn't surprise anyone that Lambert and AL are on £25,000 a week. But there is no way that NC would give out this information at a Q&A session,IMO.............

I was going to type the exact same thing.

Lallana wouldn't have signed a 5 year deal unless we offered him a lowish Premiership size wage. The fact the first year's accounts showed a £7m loss just shows how much wages we are spending - lots. Players may like the stadium, but the likes of Cork came here simply because we could afford the transfer fee and because we offer big wages.

Can someone remind me what Warnock got fined for regarding the Cork comment or whatever?

Really?? :?

Seems an odd excuse to give for plain slow service. Hire people who can count change for a start...

I hardly think chucking up some temporary rope barriers to control the queue would be expensive or limited by the structure of the concourse either...

I'm his bum chum :(

ha, vindication! Thanks actual chum

So no one actually knows anyway whether this is true or not until we get confirmation from man-who-was-there (sorry, forgot the name and can't go back a page now typing! or can I?)

I don't believe it is all true, but there is obviously a lot of stuff in there that is correct and its not all made up! £25k wages sound about right to me for top earners at our club, as we would have wanted to keep Lallana happy for example.

I am less inclined to believe Kelly Smunt (from above) who was invited but forgot to go than the stuff from random person on twitter!!!

Exactly, well said. And introduce payment cards which work a bit like an Oyster card in London. We charge them up either online or at a machine outside the ground and then just swipe it to pay. Works wonders at keeping the queues moving.

And get some additional people pouring, it's not rocket science, there's actually many ways they could make it better!

There would be no need if more fans took their seats before 2.59pm.

I am already seated, waiting patiently for the kick off next Saturday.

I am in stasis, my hands placed equidistantly upon my thighs, my feet parallel and touching, my back supported correctly by my seat.

My head is level and I am looking STRAIGHT AHEAD.

Apart from the Saints Ale (which I actually quite like) there is no pouring to do this season! Only unscrewing caps. How long would it take to complete the following transaction:

"Next please.."

"Awwight! Two lagers, ta"

[unscrew, unscrew, place on counter]

"Twenty nine quid plus parking is four hundred and sixty eight quid please"

"Bargain!"

[swipe...beep]

"ta..."

"ta...enjoy the game"

"next please..."

I was invited but forgot to go. Didn't remember until about 11.30 last night. Oh well.

This does not surprise me, I bet you were laid on the sofa with your hands down your pants at the time. I don't think they serve brown sauce sandwiches either, so you may have dodged a bullet there nips.

Charging up payment cards which you can't use elsewhere, can't check the balance of, and can't get any credit back from, is just another way to get hugely ripped off by the club without knowing. Quite a few German clubs have tried it to various complaints.

To be honest I wouldn't want to present such an easy opportunity for our non-fan focused money-making machine to exploit me further, so that would probably just lead to me stopping buying stuff at matches altogether, just like the car park charge has stopped me popping into the club shop to see if there's anything decent in.

Nonsense, nonsense, nonsense!

You could easily check the balance in the same machine you put credit on, or online. Anyway, do you use a debit card linked to your bank account? How do you check that balance?

And it is very possible to get money back off them, so long as you paid money in on a credit card it just gets reversed back. The tech is all proven. It could be used at the ticket office and megastore as well.

Really can't see the problem.

sounds a very good solution, but if there is money to be made you can bet we'll go for the stick you fiver and lose any credit remaining after 6 days.

Had experience of this at St Gallen at the preseason game. Works OK for regular home supporters, can be used next game, but as an away supporter NO. Minimum topup 10 franks and a huge palava to get any unspent funds back. Ended up buying stuff I didn't want.

Would like to see this sort of card replace STs, installment plan would work like it used to as card can be banned at the electronic turnstile if payment in arrears.

Well it doesn't need to be a carpet ban on regular cash! Have one line for 'swipe-n-go' and another for regular cash....

I have probably missed, but was there actually one of Corteses dinners or is the o.p made up. Have scanned but cant see the usual update on the evening. Surely the original poster would have done this by now?

Jordan Sibley mentioned it on twitter so I'd imagine there was one.

Thanks. So is there any one out there who can give us an update. Surely there would be a lot to tell us, transfers must have been mentioned?

Posted

Probably sat at home trying to to recall all the details!

When we went, Cortese said players were on contracts that changed to pre-determined wages depending on what league they were playing in. E.G some players were willing to sign their contract which stated if the team dropped into league two, their salaries would decrease CONSIDERABLY. I'm not going to say how much he mentioned because this forum has alot of old farts and sceptics who wouldn't believe it anyway.

Therefore, as we have just been promoted, i'm sure many of the players will be on more than they were last year.

P.S 'urry up facup76!!
