FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Hello, I've been invited to one of these question and answer evenings with Nicola Cortese tonight. As I've not been before, just wondering from those that have already how many people are invited to these types of events and what is the format? I have lots of questions to ask but wondering how many I'd be likely to be given the chance to ask. Thank you
Thedelldays Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 What are our aims for this season? do we have good money to strengthen in january When did you know Chamberlain was going to go
FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Author Posted 1 September, 2011 Yep, they're on the list as are many others....

Is this an invite to random season ticket holders?
FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Author Posted 1 September, 2011 Yes, it appears to be. Came out of the blue through the post on Monday.
Saintandy666 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Excuse me being naive, but why have you been invited? Is this an invite to random season ticket holders? Cortese has a dinner which a bunch of random season ticket holders every few months. I think it is his way of keeping an ear to the thoughts of the fans. It's a nice touch actually.
The9 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 What are our aims for this season? do we have good money to strengthen in january When did you know Chamberlain was going to go You didn't read the OP then ? It didn't ask for your questions. It asked what the format was and how likely he would be to get to ask the questions he already has.
Thedelldays Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 You didn't read the OP then ? It didn't ask for your questions. It asked what the format was and how likely he would be to get to ask the questions he already has. thanks, I can read....no harm in throwing some out there......
Saintandy666 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Also, ask him where he wants us to be in 5 years time!
SaintRobbie Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 I guess the key question is why no signings? (Although I have to say that as long as we have reinforcement at the back (and we have) I don't think there is any urgency yet) Many people seem to think that our reputation in the transfer market is not good. Can NC reassure us that he is able to support Nigel Adkins when he requests the player he wants. With Neil Warnocks comments about Saints fannying around over transfers, are we regarded as a little amateurish in our transfer dealings? Has it cost us or not?

In fairness... there was de Ridder and Cork as well as this new guy.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 In fairness... there was de Ridder and Cork as well as this new guy. And Fox
Saint_Ash Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Good ol Nick. He knows he's going to be swamped with questions about transfers from people who are bitter about a "poor" transfer window where we've kept all our quality players and brought in 4 players who can play at this level but he's going to take it all on the chin. Be nice to hear him say that our goal is promotion as well. Going to be interesting to hear the reports on this one.
Saintandy666 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 And Fox Yep... and him! Bad transfer window my arse!
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 I'm guessing there will be no BBC fans forum again this year, as the dates for Bornemouth & The Skates were announced on Solent at the weekend.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 "Nicola, would you see it as a failure if we don't get promoted to the Premier League this season?"
hypochondriac Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 What has happened to the Markus flag? Why do the club not feel that the fans forum is beneficial? Is there any chance of the club and mlt putting the past behind them and making amends? Were there plans to improve our squad more this window? If there was, what went wrong?
Scummer Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 we've kept all our quality players. To be fair, we did lose Chamberlain. Which is why I guess people were expecting a big signing or two with the money that transfer brought in.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 FACUP1976 - Would you be happy to provide us with a summary of the Q&A from this dinner? Would be very interested to hear what Mr Cortese has to say.
Alucard Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Excuse me being naive, but why have you been invited? Is this an invite to random season ticket holders? 12 disciples are chosen, invited to eat at Nicolas table and then go forth and spread the gospel according to St Nicola.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Yes... ask about the flag! The answer to that one will be something like: "We would like to use it more often but we have to apply for a licence every time we want to use it and that is time consuming and/or costly". So, if 'we' ask that question then the follow up question up 'our' sleeve should be: "Ok, understand that, but other clubs seem to do it without any perceivable problems so surely this isn't an insurmountable issue?"
Nutwood2 Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 When are you and LeTiss going to have a round of golf together?

Also would it be possible that hose who paid for it were kept more informed? Mike has been ignored.
Thedelldays Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 hypo...any positive questions for the club...???
iansums Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him if he thinks the club could be run better by a committee made up of members of this forum.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 "Nicola, when we were in League One we kept hearing from Nigel and yourself that we were buying players who could not only get us out of League One, but who could compete in the Championship. On the surface, we have not seen or heard the same 'mantra' ahead of, or during, this season (thus far). Do we have the same 'good enough to compete in the league above' philosophy in place this season? If not, why not?"
trousers Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him if he thinks the club could be run better by a committee made up of members of this forum. Shouldn't we first have a vote on whether to submit that question....? ;-)
pangy Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him if any offers came in for any of our players on deadline day i.e Lallana,Lambert,Fonte etc
Benj Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 "Nicola, when we were in League One we kept hearing from Nigel and yourself that we were buying players who could not only get us out of League One, but who could compete in the Championship. Danny Fox - 29 top flight appearances Steve de Ridder - 60 top flight appearances Jack Cork - 11 top flight appearances Jos Hooiveld - 118 top flight appearances Ask him if he ever reads this forum and if so is he embarrassed by the ignorance of a lot of the people on here.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him if any offers came in for any of our players on deadline day i.e Lallana,Lambert,Fonte etc Good question....maybe ask about the Ipswich Lambert bid.
aintforever Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him how having spats with popular club legends helps the club?
FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Author Posted 1 September, 2011 Thanks for the questions, I had most of them..... Any chance of an answer to the original questions from anybody who has been before??
Mouldy Coat Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 the main question has to be: Were we targetting a cb and cf? if so, what has impacted us from signing players on permanent contracts for these positions? Is any AOC money going to be made avaialble in the transfer window in January?
buctootim Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Thanks for the questions, I had most of them..... Any chance of an answer to the original questions from anybody who has been before?? I havent been, but going on reports here from people who have AFAIK its a three course sit down dinner for 12 fans plus Cortese and a couple of Saints staff. Informal and friendly. As in most dinners some speak more than others and get more of their questions asked.
Saint_clark Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him how having spats with popular club legends helps the club? Considering all the public abuse has been in the other direction, that question would likely be ignored.

Enjoy the evening and I hope you are able to report back on what was issues were raised and discussed.
saintmatt Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Ask him how having spats with popular club legends helps the club? Could equally ask the club legends if having spats with the club helps..
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Have you thought about letting Hypo take over the transfer side of things?
FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Author Posted 1 September, 2011 Thanks for the reply to the questions asked. Yes, will happily let you know all I can remember anyway!
Chez Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 the first set of accounts showed £20m of debt to the current owner(s). Is there any chance whatsoever that the club could be saddled with that debt should perhaps the current owners sell the club?
manji Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Most important questions 1.When will we have fanontheboard ? 2.Immediate implementation of Club Historian. 3.Making Club Carpark a Peoples Collective. 4.Having a vote on which well known local comedian we could use as half time entertainment. The clubs future stands and falls on these questions.
FACUP76 Posted 1 September, 2011 Author Posted 1 September, 2011 I will keep all sensible questions in mind. Though I have more than enough now. Wopper, I'll let you ask that one if you ever get the invite....

JRM Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 (edited) I will keep all sensible questions in mind. Though I have more than enough now. Wopper, I'll let you ask that one if you ever get the invite.... Can you ask him why on the first day of season ticket renewals the free parking lasted for 30 mins, but on the 2nd day it was reduced to 15 just to get a few more pounds from loyal supporters / customers? In fact, if it is at the stadium tonight, have you been issued with a parking permit? Edited 1 September, 2011 by JRM
dune Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Please ask him if he realises how much the booking tax, stadium ticket tax and parking tax p/ss people off. Also ask him why the club regularly hold back selling away tickets until the monday after a match day.
