As a Ravens fan, hoping the Texans win. Rather face the Steelers later on at MT Bank than face a potential trip to NE.

Am I the only one who thinks that a financial institution called MT Bank is not somewhere I would be depositing my hard earned in any hurry ...:shakey:

The Texans have had a decent season, Is Schaub in the running for the play-offs or is he on IR for the season,a very unsung quarterback.

Definitely out. One player who I'm glad is on the Ravens rather than Texans side is Vonta Leach. Worked wonders for Foster, now doing the same for Rice. Probably my favourite unsung player, a proper, old-fashioned fullback who rarely carries the ball or complains but gets a buzz from hitting people and clearing blockers. An absolute beast.

Why do you say that? I'm really looking forward to seeing that game. The Bengals were in a right state at the start of the season - 'will they win a game' was pretty much all anyone could say about them. 16 games later and they are in the post-season. Dalton -> Green has become a killer play. Fair play to them.

Texans are banged up but with Foster fit & raring to go you can't write them off.

With AFC looking a bit weak this is the best chance either team has had for ages to make a decent post-season run. I hope Cincinnati win. Good city & good fans.

Sorry I missed this earlier.

I think of the teams that are remaining these two are among the least interesting. Yes, when you put it the way you do it sounds better, but the Bengals had plenty of chances to prove themselves worthy this year and blew them all. They only beat one team that was over .500 this year, and that was a team that finished 9-7. They just can't beat the good teams. Dalton to Green is an exciting play in the future, but Dalton faded terribly down the stretch so I'm thinking that his play in this game will be more reminiscent of his performances 'down the stretch' rather than at the beginning of the season when he was a rookie-of-the-year contender.

As for the Texans - they were doing great until injuries hit them, and IMHO they are in the playoffs because of the pre-injury performance. The players that will be playing this weekend are the reservists so I don't think they will look particularly good.

While everything I've said here translates into a close game, which will be fun, I don't think the football will be particularly pretty. That's why I'm not into that game so much.

Of course, you're right about the Bengals coming out of nowhere to surprise folks. It's been a nice story for the league and the city. I lived there for 5 years and watched the fans suffer year in and year out - I hope they do well, but I say that as a Browns fan and therefore rival so it is a little bittersweet.

Please say someone on here saw Tebow Time vs Pittsburgh last night?

Umm - yeah.

Plus just watched a couple of hours post-game talk about the game.

As a Broncos fan and a 100% Steeler hater then it was bliss :-)

I've seen the game, Broncs should have wrapped it up in the first half,if the #88 hadn't dropped that dollydrop on the 2yd line.

Still a great game, good to see the dirty Steelers get their come-uppance. No wild cards left after the WC round, does that happen often?

Yeh watched it - strange game after such a one-sided first quarter. Didn't think Denver or Tebow had it in their locker to the air ball out and thought Pittsburgh would have learned, having barely survived the second quarter, not to keep committing so many to stopping run or blitzing. But fair play to the Broncos - they have an awesome offensive line. Mixed feelings that the Steelers have gone out - no love lost for them but think they would have given NE a tougher job. Can't see the freak show rolling past next week. When was the last time I said that? ;)

Some fun football this weekend. The Broncos comeback against the Steelers is obviously the highlight of the weekend but I enjoyed all 4 games to various extents. I don't think I can say much about Tebow and the Broncos that hasn't been said before, but I will say that on the final play it wasn't Tebow or anyone on Denver that won that game. It was the Steelers' defensive coordinator who called a play in which there were no safeties. There was no one deep! In Overtime! How do you even call that? I don't care about who was lined up where, or what had happened up until that point, or what your best plan was going to be. You can't leave NO ONE deep! Yes, the Broncos made a nice play and especially a nice read and Demaryius Thomas of course earns cudos for that stiff-arm on #24 and outrunning everyone else, but still - I think that loss goes on the defensive coordinator more than anything.

Otherwise - the Texans thoroughly took out Cincinnati. I wasn't too surprised about this as I mentioned a few posts ago, but I was surprised at how effectively they pulled this off. They do have a legit running game over there and perhaps they can give Baltimore a run for it.

The Giants destroyed the Falcons. I couldn't even watch this game it was so lopsided. I hate the Giants because I live here and root against them just so I don't have to hear their fans anymore, but this was the one time I could root for them: the Cleveland Browns (my team) have the Falcons' #1 pick in the upcoming draft so I was pleased to see them lose.

My favorite game of the weekend was the Saints - Lions matchup. I really like the way the Saints play and of course Drew Brees is a likeable guy. I like how Sean Payton calls the game - he makes smart decisions rather than "safe" decisions. He'll go for it on 4th down or he will do a crazy kickoff or something. He gives his players legit chances to win games. So seeing the Saints advance is pleasing, even if they do have a weak defense which I think will be exploited at some point. I don't know if Alex Smith and the 49ers are the team to do it, but someone will. As for the Lions - my Browns have a similarly tortured history and in fact aren't even that far away from Detroit physically (it's what...a 3 hour drive?) that I was kind of rooting for them, too. So it was fun overall.

Good times and looking forward to next week.

Comeback!! what comeback? The Broncs could have been leading 24-6 at half-time,as it was they were 20-6 up.Steelers got back into it at 23 all and then Demarius Thomas made up for the dolly he dropped late in the second quarter when all he need was to catch a screen, turn and run 2 yds for the Broncs to have the game sewn up. There was no Broncos comeback really.

Wooops! Hah. Sorry - yes, you're right and I ended up with a sentence that makes no sense because I started writing about one thing and changed my mind halfway through it. Then I forgot to edit. D'oh!

I meant to say that the Broncos squashed the Steelers comeback when often in that situation the team with the lead starts crumbling because they see the world collapsing around them. The Broncos withstood that charge and to do so is certainly a worthwhile achievement.

With all the injuries etc, the Steelers last drive showed how they huffed and puffed all game. Any other season, they would have driven the ball to FG range and killed the Broncos off rather than end up losing yards. 50+ yards is nothing up there.

Well down the final 8 now:

AFC:

DEN @ NE - look I'm a Broncos fan - I can't predict anything else bar another win. No - I wouldn't put my life on it but they do have a chance. Don't totally write them off (like some people did v the Steelers).

HOU @ BAL - I think the Ravens will nail this one quite easily. I'd love to see Houston do 'em though.

NFC:

NO @ SF - Come on you Saints! Won't be a walk-over but I think Saints will score heavily again & march on. I'm really interested in this game though - mainly to see just how good SF are. They've been well under the radar all season.

NYG @ GB - If the Giants can do just half as good-a job on defense v GB as they did v ATL then they have a chance here. GB would probably still score quite well but I can see the Giants putting quite a few on the board. I'm going for GB - but not in a walk-over - they'll be made to earn it.

Forest v SFC live and then the NFL quarter finals. A good weekend of sport is lined up.

Just add that you won't get rich on backing the favs this weekend. This is what oddschecker currently has:

NO 4/9 @ SF 17/10

DEN 11/2 @ NE 1/6

HOU 14/5 @ BAL 3/10

NYG 29/10 @ GB 3/10

A accy on the 4 favs is under 2/1 (a tenner would get you back about 28.50).

Almost seems like easy money though ey?

If I had to pick one of the outsiders it would be the Giants.

Harbaugh Superbowl anyone?

AAAAC7ZQdjsAAAAAAC00fQ.jpg?v=1233260066000

Repeat of 2007 Pats-Giants.

When the Giants start rolling in post-season they're unstoppable.Mind you the refs tried yesterday, even turned down a perfectly good challenge on a Packers fumble, ball was out and the runner wasn't down, don't know what they look at sometimes, especially when the Packers are playing.

Now I still think that the 49ers were worth a punt, and I am glad I did not listen.... that £10 bet at the start of the season could pay for my summer holiday!! £610 please please please!! I know the wheels will come off!

Still alive and kicking, and glad I showed faith in the team I support.

Saturday's games sucked.

BAL struggled by HOU

... but then the last game was excellent. The refs did their usual job of attempting to hand GB a victory but it didn't work. I can't remember the last time I cheered so many dropped passes. A great game.

Of the 4 left I now want SF to win it. Any team who names themselves after Suburban Filth has gotta be good in my eyes.

Potentially we have

The Harbaugh Super Bowl (SF-Bal)

or

Rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl (NYG - NE)

or

Rematch of the 2001 Super Bowl (or was it 2000?) (NYG - Bal)

So the only one without a story line is SF vs NE... and I guess if that happens the media will say that NE will have to beat both Harbaugh's to win the title. Weird final 4 in my mind. Was really looking forward to having the Saints or the Packers still in it (maybe both) but alas it wasn't meant to be. The Giants played incredibly well, as did the Patriots, and with those two teams one has to say that if they play that well again it'll be them in the Big Game.

As a long time 49er fan is it wrong to laugh at this video??? (I thought GB would beat the Giants but pleased they didn't.)

:lol::lol:

Mind you now karma will come back to bite me and SF will lose and not go to the SB :(:(

.

Not at all, as a sports fan it is 100% right to laugh at that and any other video of a losing fan crying..... Unless it is your own.

I have been a SF fan since back in the 80's and my best mate was a dolphins fan. We both used to play for Britannia royals, back in the boom years of American football, when it was on channell 4!

Could go either way now, but when the giants are on a role they are a tough team to stop!

What a gutting loss - first Lee Evans who had looked so good earlier and then Billy Cundiff, a pro-bowler last year. Up to that point, the defense had contained Brady, Welker, the TEs to FGS and Flacco (once again) proved the critics wrong. Those two plays are going to haunt the Ravens for ages while everyone else revels in the NE love-in. Absolutely gutted.

Just booked 6th February off work so I can watch the Superbowl guilt-free. Without Sky it's the only time I get to see it live on TV.

I 'support' NYG and so I am particularly looking forward to this year. Watched the Superbowl a few years back in the Carribean with lots of Americans in a sports bar - an Irish New Yorker who reminded me of Brad Pitt's Pikey character (in that I hardly understood a word he said) and I were pretty much the only ones rooting for NYG and he kept telling me how people hated us and Eli Manning. It was a good night and we got thoroughly drunk and then ate lots of hotdogs out of a self-serving machine. Happy days.

As foreseen Pats-Giants then.

When those steamrollers get going they're hard to stop, just like Citeh and Utd yesterday really.

Bad coaching from both 49ers and Ravens though.

I wouldn't have used a rookie punt receiver and I'd have let the kicker try his luck from 51 yds as well.

Might have helped if Baltimore had kicked on 3rd down as well.

Cundiff has an atrocious record from 50+ yards hell he can't even convert from 32 yards. Question mark whether they should have gone for a 4th down and inches early in the game but I thought the FG, at such an early point in the game, was the right decision. In general, I thought the Ravens game plan worked perfectly -even Cam Cameron wasn't a liability. The Ravens were the better team - NE were nothing like a steamroller- the Ravens just couldn't execute when they needed to.

I have always hated the Patriots because of what Belichek did during his tenure with the Cleveland Browns, so I naturally root against them. However, I live in NYC and find that Giants fans are insufferable, so I am in a lose-lose situation. I don't really care who wins the Big Game this year - but it should be a good one and fun to watch if nothing else.

In fact, both games yesterday were very good games to watch. I feel for Cundiff and Williams, but it was otherwise some great football.

I used to like the Pats, even forked out huge sums to go to Foxboro(well when I was at M.I.T anyway) a couple of times but they've got kinda boring,so now I just watch games on ESPN usually with a preference for the underdogs.Gone back to my original faves ..Broncos..plastic fan me?? I guess so.
