It is still summer after all, the snow line is up at 1700m now. Pretty warm now so it will mostly be gone by tomorrow evening.

Any tips on how to ski for total novice?

Just got back from Scheffau, first ever skiing trip, first two days were bloody hell, then it all came natural to me and it was brilliant, apart from the sauna experience with the hairy arsed German bird.

You picked a fantastic week to be out here, the snow has been incredible. I was stuck in traffic near Scheffau for over an hour the other day, I should have ditched the transport and found you for a pint!

Just got back from Meribel. Couldn't have asked for better conditions last week. A massive dump of snow the week before, then clear skies and calm winds the whole time we were out there. Could do with a bit of a fresh dusting now I expect.

I'm out in Meribel for the season. Could do with a bit more on the lower slopes and obviously off-piste. Looks like we're scheduled for a heavy snow fall from Thursday onwards. Happy days.

Yes the snow was outstanding, some jock called Mark taught me how to ski in 2 hours, and to be honest I was rubbish, and then it all clicked into place and I went everywhere flat out.

 

PS. you wouldn't have found me, I was in the naked sauna.

Yeah, it was getting a bit scraped down the bottom of the slopes leading into Mottaret, although that was probably down to the large number of skiers. Off to Val D'Isere in a couple of weeks, can't wait.

The slopes into Mottaret are always icy; even when the snow elsewhere is really good.

 

I want to get over to VdI at some point this season; love the Espace Killy.

I'm really busy teaching English this week but as the snow's hard that's no worry, but looking ahead to next week there's a depression coming in ffrom the West and cold air from the east, so this side of Mt Blanc a dump also expected. Forecast for La Thuile, for example:

Snow forecast for the Innsbruck area from Thursday as well and Sunday, all be it a long way off, looks very good indeed.
