Wade Garrett Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 Salary, ego, doesn't want drop from Prem, would expect start thereby would not fit with squad ethic, we wouldn't pay the £4-5m for him. Just for starters - is that enough? Of course he would expect to start. I wouldn't expect us to be paying top dollar for a Championship bench warmer. Salary could be a problem, but Everton have strict wage restrictions themselves so we may be able to afford his salary. Ego is down to Adkins to manage.
del boy Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 I'm assuming that this is all in your opinion, and that the above post contains absolutely ZERO fact, so it was a complete waste of your time posting it really wasn't it? TBF if we only allowed facts on here we'd go weeks with nothing to read, in my opinion
bristolsaint29 Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 TBF if we only allowed facts on here we'd go weeks with nothing to read, in my opinion Is this a fact?
Golden Balls Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 What an amazing signing this would be. Him and Lambert would be unstoppable! Seems an unlikely signing but it's clear to see we're interested. I'm not sure about this ego thing. My housemate is a Leeds fan and said he always had a good relationship with fans as well as a great desire to win. Never came across as someone who was disruptive. He had a bit of a strop after our defence kicked him all over the park a couple of seasons ago. So what?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 Ok but how much of this do you know to be true? I am more confident about my comments as the opening poster is about us having a hope in hell's chance of signing Beckford. Pretty solid eh?

More likely him and connolly ! Lambert is a good link up player but i. n my opinion will struggle in this league through lack of pace and mobility Im not saying hes a bad player but we do need a striker whos strong( like Lambert) but has a turn of pace aswell.

If Grant Holt can score 20+ goals in this league, Lambert certinaly can.

hypochondriac Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 4.5 million for someone with no resale value in a year or two is not how I see us doing business.
Saint Charlie Posted 30 August, 2011 Posted 30 August, 2011 Yeah he isn't worth that. Crazy offer if true (I don't think the Mirror journalists know any more than their readers!)
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2011 Author Posted 30 August, 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Leicester-Everton-Jermaine-Beckford-4-5million-bid-article793384.html They're panicking and desperate.
JustMike Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 4.5 million for someone with no resale value in a year or two is not how I see us doing business. Assuming its all about the resale, which I doubt it is for every player we sign.
The9 Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 He had a bit of a strop after our defence kicked him all over the park a couple of seasons ago. So what? Had our defence actually fouled him in that match as opposed to him just diving every time the ball went near him you'd probably be hearing quite a few different opinions of him on here. But based on his one appearance at St Mary's he was a worthless primadonna with ideas above his station who looked like he couldn't be bothered.
modern matron Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 Bid turned down http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2011/08/31/everton-fc-reject-southampton-bid-for-striker-jermaine-beckford-92534-29333534/
weaver girl Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 I don't know if anyone already mentioned this but I thought Adkin's post match comments about Beckford were interesting. To me they gave the impression that Adkin's felt he knew how to get the best out of him. Or maybe Adkin's was just teasing.
DT Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 Good. Would be bad decision. Clearly thinks too much of himself.
weaver girl Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 Ah seeing MM's thread I now think we will get him.

Jaidi left him on his arse the entire game without fouling him once - I thought he was lightweight despite his supposed star billing!

SuperSAINT Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 My guess - Going on loan to leicester Doesn't benefit Everton unless they pay a big loan fee up front. 4.5m is quite high for him in my view when an extra 1m could land J-rod.

SuperSAINT Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 4.5 for a proven player in the premier league or 5.5 for a championship striker who is overhyped... I've also taken into account mood swings, tantrums & future sell on fees.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 My guess - Going on loan to leicester What position are you going to play for them ?
Doctoroncall Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 It's being reported Beckford is going to Leicester for £4m.
TopGun Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 It's being reported Beckford is going to Leicester for £4m. Deal is done.
Doctoroncall Posted 31 August, 2011 Posted 31 August, 2011 Deal is done. Maybe not? 1.48pm: This just in from Andy Hunter in Liverpool: "Everton have not broken the mould by signing Denis Stracqualuisi just yet. They have received a £2.5m bid for Jermaine Beckford from Leicester but whether the suddenly coveted striker wants to drop down a division is another matter. They still need some money in, and several clubs are interested in Yakubu, before Everton's club secretary can blow the dust off a transfer form and invite Stracqualuisi to sign. With his own pen."

dubai_phil Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 Telegraph reporting today that the fee for Beckford with add-ons is 13million. That is insane
