International Breaks - Like them or hate them?

Don't have the passion for England that I have for Saint's, only get the proper thingamiwhatzit in the final part of the competition be it euro or world cup (gives me an inklining into the world of the glory hunter). Saint's got me all thingamiwhatzit even in admin.

So in reply to the OP. All for it every other summer but gets in the way of the real thing when it's in season.

Absolutely Loathe it. Hope England never Qualify for another European champ/world cup. Players like cole and Terry inspire no desire to get involved, and almost as bad as the dire level of football, is the 'England on the TELLY! fan.'

You've seen them, around qualifying matches and World cups, usually types from work who have never shown any interest in the game, suddenly appear to stand in your local watering hole and say how much they love 'the footy', how good the 'goalie' is, or how amazing the 'headered strike' was. Oh, and will try and break out a chorus of 'its's coming home' (their idea of the title, not mine), after any hint of a goal. It soon becomes clear they are trying to pass in a world that they have no place in whilst intruding into your social time. See also: Waiting at the bar 15 minutes around the christmas period, because some 35 year old plain jane office dullard and her 'mad girlies' are doing Screaming orgasm shots OMG LOL!

Aww, who am i kidding, bring on the face paint, st george wigs, crusader outfits, and 'Hilarious' James cordon videos.

the only positive is that your players get a rest for a week (not always a good thing if it breaks continuity), but tougher on teams with many internationals who end up playing more games anyway.

Your regular players can train and recover, but your best players (internationals) end up kn*ackered by the time they're back !

Especially when they have to fly to the other side of the world!

I feel differently than most of you because this is only our second World Cup campaign in a proper FIFA confederation where we actually play real World Cup qualifiers. Before that we'd just beat up on the small Pacific Islands 15-0 and then get eliminated in a two leg WC playoff against a battle hardened South American or Asian team. Our current group love representing their country and often return against the wishes of their British managers. (ie David Moyes).

Having said that, I'd prefer it wasn't at a time when Saints have so much momentum!
