Nathaniel Clyne

Tac-tics

Where did you see this?

Popped up on twitter, Palace fans ''hearing'' that bids have gone in for a few of their players, and they also say they've heard rumours of Clyne to us - and also on football-forums. (which i guess is just a rehash of what was on twitter)

Let's hope there's something it in then!

Seems like the Palace fans are getting the news via a locked twitter feed, have tried to see if I can follow them to get a bit of the gossip. Interestingly the description of the feed is:

Aspiring Football Writer/Reporter - Wycombe Wanderers Correspondent for PFA (ON HOLD). Crystal Palace Fanzone writer 'Life's a Pitch'..Big Film and Music fan. Avid CPFC

Which would suggest they have some connections to the club/football in general if true.

This appears to have some legs tac-tics, just looked through your post history and I see you have been first with news on numerous occasions such as Jack Cork, Rickie Lambert and Martin Hunter amongst others!

Keeps us posted!

I take my post back!

Butterfield or frazer to move to CB if this is true, otherwise one of them will go.

If we want a CB (which we do) we'll sign a CB, we're not going to move a RB to cover that position.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we used Butterfield as part of the deal for Clyne, seeing as he's a bit of a cult figure for them.

That is a terrible idea. Neither of them are suited for that. A specialist, ball winning, hulk of a centre back is needed, allowing Fonte to cover.

If Clyne were to come, it would more likely see Butterfield leaving or further sidelined (perhaps even returning to Palace) and Clyne at right back with Richardson giving him competition and cover.

Are these credible sources? Or more cancer spread by twitter and transfer rumours?

@jezbutter is the official twitter of a football journalist from the north west - a saints fan randomly asked him if he'd heard anything, and he came back with this.

Tac tics has been spot on in the past and has got a significant amount right. I believe this has legs and if we can strengthen rb then I think it's a great idea. Get a quality cb in and we will have a remodelled and solid defence, a top class midfield and with a new striker a fantastic strike force too with quality backup.

We would have no weakness and I would look for the playoffs.

If we get top quality RB/CB and a ST before deadline day I'd be hoping for top 2 if I'm honest!

Cheers, sounds promising. Surprised he would be privy to Clyne-related info but Beckford is interesting. Just can't see him being happy to drop down a division and take a pay cut.

I think we would challenge but I wouldn't be disappointed with the playoffs really in our first season. I have been most encouraged by our performances so far more than the results. I moaned last year agendas got results but played poorly on the whole so credit where it is due, we have been playing really well.

I think west ham have an automatic spot sewn up but the other spot is up for grabs.

You serious? We'd be breaking 100 points if these results were extended over the season.

What I mean is that last year we got

Some good results but were playing poorly which did lose us sone points in some games. This season we are playing really well so despite the Leicester result it still feels like a win.

According to Wiki he signed a 3 year contract in Oct 2008 - so due to end shortly. Surely this would reduce is value if the end of his contract is imminent?

Depends on how in demand he is. If it's only us in for him then we could get a real bargin!

I haven't looked into his contract status but might it have been an extension? MLG?
