Window Cleaner Posted 28 August, 2011 Share Posted 28 August, 2011 what should they do....do a "pompey"...? go into £200m debt to win a piece of metal...? they (and harldy anyone in the WORLD) can compete with man city...and chelsea.....man u are but are near on £750m in debt...that is it.... what can they do..? sure, not sign OxO..but will signing gary cahill win them the league..? absolutely NOT....so for them 4th is NOW success... The Emirates stadium is a millstone, just as SMS was for us in the final "Lowe" years. It cost them 375 million and most of that is debt, true they sold off Highbury under their own steam an whilst there were appartments to sell they've made a profit over the last few years but that's dried up now and the 375 million Emirates debt is mostly still there. Wenger's preference for francophones is beginning to turn against him and it will eventually be his undoing. He's been running after Eden Hazard all summer but he won't get him this time round,Squillaci was a bust,Chamakh looks like he'll go that way as well, Gervinho is a good player if he can stay on the pitch,but..........the list is endless, if the Arse want to profit from their 70 million player sales then they've got to ditch Wenger. Red Posted 28 August, 2011 Share Posted 28 August, 2011 LITTLE BOY LOST more like!! He looked like a spare one at a spare one's convention!!! Hope his dads happy. One league to far at this stage IMHO. On the positive side he played - which I was surpised by. On the negative side I think he looked very average at best, and couldn't have done his confidence much good? Tough one - don't blame him for trying to better himself, but maybe a season or two longer with us would have been better preparation? Can't be easy going from hero to zero in quick time!!! Maybe he should get group therapy with Gaddafi :-)

LostBoys Posted 29 August, 2011 Share Posted 29 August, 2011 We are still tallking about football here aren't we, and not what went on in the dorms at boarding school? Talking of which The Mancs really have ripped North London a new one today haven't they .. 13 - 3 aggregate Obviously my mind does not work along the same lines as yours - I normally post football items on football forums however I am sure you will find other forums to cover your personal tastes
shurlock Posted 29 August, 2011 Share Posted 29 August, 2011 Of the names you quote only Owen could be regarded as world class. Not even Gerrard is world class if his international performances are anything to go by. Who have they brought through recently? Guess it depends on the cut-off age. As I said, Arsenal bought a lot of youngish players who had already played international football - hard to see how they can claim credit for their success. If you believe Arsenal developed Thierry Henry (he joined when he was 22-23), no reason you can't also say the same thing about alonso and mascherano who joined liverpool at a similar age.
